  • Finally the car is hitting the track at Circuit Zolder!
    After the full rebuild this is the moment that mattered the most, and it paid off. What an incredible car and wow did it live up to what I was expecting.
    The grip levels and balance are just amazing and this is still with the 225 NS2R tire, trying 245 R888 next. That will be even more grip.
    Also the B28 is so much faster compared to the B25 and makes up for all the power the car was lacking before.
    Next part is getting the car ready for the Nurburgring, the place that matters the most. After this good of a shakedown I have a lot of confidence Nurburgring will go well.

    Car sounds great and looks like it drives great. However small observation, through long corners your oil pressure drops pretty significantly better to fill it slightly over full to save the engine from oil starvation. Or maybe even a baffled sump, don't want you to lose the engine so close to it being rebuild!

      Thanks for noticing, I’ll definitely fill up the oil a bit more to prevent this issue

      Thanks man, nothing special at the moment. -3,0 camber front and rear. 0.1 toe out in the front 0.1 toe in in the rear.
      Camber is not ideal, best would be to have more at the front but the camber plates are maxed out

    Great to see the car running in new trim and that it performed well. Nice to have more power I guess, what are you making with the 2.8 and all the other mods? 240 bhp? Small issue @6:37? Your oil lamp is on briefly (red)...

    • @TJS36
      @TJS36  2 роки тому +1

      I can't really tell, if it's between 220-230 I would be really happy. Glad you pointed out the oil light, didn't see that yet. Wonder what causes it because oil level is good and temp/pressure showed no issues

    • @SuperWhiteBarry
      @SuperWhiteBarry 2 роки тому +1

      @@TJS36 You didn't dyno it yet? Still running the OEM mapping on the ECU? I think you can get more out of the engine if you go to a proper tuner considering all the mods, intake/headers/exhaust...
      With only basic knowledge on BMW M52 engines it would be a wild guess, so I reluctantly can only speculate from my point of view. I know the M54's oil pump is a weak point... It still seems to me, assuming the oil pressure switch isn't toast and the oil level is correct like you say, that you're (briefly) losing oil pressure somehow. First I would replace it. If the pesky thing comes back on, - and now you'll have a good reason to watch your videos back to back - 🧐, you can always look further into the matter, 2nd guess would be oil pump. Last thing you want is a blown engine on your hands after all the work you put into the car recently.
      Other than that the car is mint! I watched your last Instagram video and the car sounds absolutely amazing! Great work!

      @@SuperWhiteBarry Thanks a lot, I have a basic tune for the manifold/exhaust and rev limiter raise, didn’t dyno it yet. I’ll fill up the oil a bit above max and see what the oil pressure does maybe we more oil in the system it’s less likely to drop

    • @SuperWhiteBarry
      @SuperWhiteBarry 2 роки тому +1

      @@TJS36 Please don't fill it up above max, NEVER do that, it is also potentially disastrous for your engine. Too much lubricant in the system can cause pressure on the crankshaft to increase. Overflowing engine oil can also lead to bent engine rods and collapsed valve pipes. You don't wanna go there! Check your oil pressure switch first, they are not that expensive, after-market around €25-€30, OEM (my preference) twice as much is my assumption.. 2nd option is the oil pump.
      Maybe you can consider joining "bimmerforums", a shitload of info regarding BMW's. If the UA-cam community has your preference, there's a German guy who was an IT consultant and switched to full-time BMW maintenance/restoration and has a UA-cam channel: "M539 Restorations". His channel is a real gem. I don't know how accessible he is, but he seems a genuine, easygoing person (don't know him personally, just watching his videos), maybe he knows somebody in the BMW community in your area or in Germany that can help you sort the engine out if you can not manage yourself. I think a lot of people would be glad to help you out with your project. His email is in the "about" section of the youtube channel.
      Good luck!

    • @TJS36
      @TJS36  2 роки тому +2

      Dude I love M539 his videos haha. I’ll switch the oil pressure switch and if that doesn’t fix the issue I’ll probably go with a baffled oil pan as you see the pressure drop in the corners. Thanks again for pointing this problem out

    Forgot to add - which return crossover are you running on your fuel tank? External or internal? Reason I ask is that I read that the External (white pump hanger) runs better than the internal (blue pump hanger). I almost changed from internal to external but read somewhere that some road racing school said they had less problems with external. Apparently, you can run the external almost to a quarter tank with out the fueling issues on the long sweepers. The internal was said to have issues below half a tank. Just wanted to share that with you.

    • @TJS36
      @TJS36  2 роки тому +1

      That's definitely something to look into. I'm pretty sure I have the blue one so that can be a good explanation why it starved
