Difficulty in Video Games

- Some video games are not that easy to play. That being said the difficulty level on average for the entire industry has slowly decreased as time has went on. More and more video games in the modern era are accommodating and easier to pick up than in the more primitive arcade era beginnings. But is this change in the recent history of gaming, necessarily a good one? Find out my opinions on that in this video as I explore the difficulty in video games.

One thing that i've started to come around on with Kirby is that it's really a series about making your own challenge as it is one about just breezing through the game. A lot of people complain about the games being too easy (I was one of them for a while myself) but I doubt most of those same people have tried doing things like no damage or limiting the copy abilities you use or even just not using them at all. This goes for most games in general but often I find if i'm not satisfied playing something one way, I try it a different way and that can make all the difference. It's one of the reasons why the classic Sonic games still stand out as exceptional 2D platformers since, much like Kirby, they do a good job of accommodating multiple styles of play.
FAX. This is often an overlooked aspect of playing games that I never see people talk about. There all, "man, the EXP share is so broken, why do they even put it in the game?" And I'm like, "Dude, just turn it off if it hurts your enjoyment so much." Not counting Pokemon Sw/Sh or course.
I love your videos! I definetley agree that Kirby is easier than most of the older games. Also, you're extremely under rated!! I wish this, and a lot of your videos had more likes, and you had more subscribers!

This video has an Eastern bias. That's fine, I have a Western bias myself.
Kirby's extra game sure is a riot, and it's sad the franchise has never really got back to that level. My issue with Nintendo in general is that it's almost always zero or two-hundred. Where is my "normal" difficulty. Even HAL's blobber was a pushover, but it introduced the world to the pink puff, so that's cool. And the music is great, like the final boss theme: "Second Armageddon."
Early home computer RPGs aren't brutal via arcade games. They were largely inspired by the way people played RPGs with pen and paper as well as mainframe games. With Proving Grounds being a large influence on Eastern console RPGs, we could argue their-relative lack of-difficulty also doesn't stem from the arcade. Well, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are rather easy games, at least their NES versions are.
I still find many arcade games playable, and I grew up when consoles, finally, jumped on the early 3-D bandwagon.
The industry could really use more people like Roe R. Adams III.
One of the best indie games of the last half-decade is, arguably, the hardest cRPG ever made: Knights of the Chalice 2.
If I ever made a fan-game it'd be Kirby of the Stars - Copy Master. But I'd probably make it a hardcore resource management blobber. That would be an interesting topic for a video essay: resource management. It could even lead to the, hysterical, question of would removing the oxygen gauge vastly improve Mr. Driller. A large reason I like lives systems is that it's a resource management system and I am a systems-oriented computer game enthusiast. Or, systemsfan for short. I'm the sort of person who enjoys inventory tetris.
