Great review! Have you had a chance to hunt with it yet? If so how did you like it? I keep hearing about a lot of noise from the frame (squeaks). Have you noticed anything like that?

I've hunted with the previous version of the Metcalf and it was fantastic. I think as an all around pack this one will do everything you need. The updates to it just make it even better. I have heard the odd squeak here and there, but nothing I was concerned about. No constant noise that's for sure.

Do you think the new load shelf design makes carrying a heavy load a lot easier or doesn't it make that much difference I have a Beartooth 80 and was thinking of buying the new Metcalf just for the load shelf just wondering if it would be worth it

@larrylatshaw9904 the loadshelf does sit higher on the new Metcalf. I haven't tested both side by side, but I would think the higher the load is on your back the better. At the end of the day it's up to you.

@MrYoshiCrazy you can't go wrong with the Metcalf. It's a great pack and has lots of room for an elk hunt with the 75L size. Just so you know, the Gravelly 18 is a smaller pack that can attach onto the front of the Metcalf 75 if you were needing more space or wanted a smaller day pack to go with you on your elk hunt.

@@cariboumediaoutdoors Thank you for that suggestion. Funny enough I was looking into a good day pack because I think it would benefit the style of hunting me and my father will be doing. I forgot to mention we will be doing a 4 day hunt. I think that combo will work great!
