    Just became a new subscriber and excited to be watching. I'm 54 been a climbing arborist since high school. Carving has always been an intrest to me. Would love to dabble some as retirement gets closer. Been making some bowls for fun. Found your channel when looking at the jaw horse.

    Sweet video kyle. Your very generous with yourself wanting to teach art work in wood. Thank u. I like his little beard to fun. I never noticed how detailed the noses were either. It seems we are all always learning something new from one another .

      @@KyleHallwoodworker sorry bud....I carve out back at a renz welding shop and I get all the metal carbide bits I can handle. Somehow I ended up with some pretty spectacular friends that have extended unbelievable opportunity for me to continue on with my passion.

      I mean yea I guess it kind of is if I use a discount. In all fairness they do reach out when they create new burrs . They send them over and have me try them out before they are available to the public. No charge . So I mean I do not make money but I get some awesome burrs every now and then .

    Do you have short carving bars on those battery driven Stihl saws. If so do you have links to where that stuff can be obtained?

    • @KyleHallwoodworker
      @KyleHallwoodworker  3 роки тому +1

      I run a Stihl dime tip bar on my msa160 . The other batterysaws have stock bars on them . I ordered them right from the dealer .

    What kind of wood is good for chainsaw carving items that will stay in weather. In Indiana.

      I mostly carve pine and put an exterior finish on them . Cedar is also a great option. Putting a final finish or clear coat is the best way to keep any carving looking it’s best over the years

    Great video amigo! Kyle, what type of chain saw & bar do you recommend with a budget?

    • @KyleHallwoodworker
      @KyleHallwoodworker  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you ! I think the stock Stihl MS 170 is a good starter saw . It’s on the cheaper end light . Plus with this saw you can swap the sprocket, bar and chain for a detail carving kit . I saw start with the saw and just carve also remember to get some PPE / safety gear
