But I think there a very pointed writing change in the post Sorkin era where drama was squeezed out of putting all the main characters in conflict with one another, be it Leo against Jed, Will against Josh, Will against Toby, Toby against Josh, Donna against Josh etc... and Will was an unfortunate casualty of that because they used his character as a pawn to have these conflicts which mainly helped to serve the other characters, who were obviously more popular and more central to the show.

Based on your recommendation, I just purchased Season 1 on DVD...there are four but the rest are all over $18.00 (which, once our taxes are added = $20. which is the max I'll spend on old seasons of any show (I must show some restraint or else I'd never afford groceries, LOL).
I fell in love with the show while season 1 was airing new, so I can't criticize your starting point. However, I think it started mid-season to replace a show that bombed too hard to continue for the rest of the season, so I think Season 1 of In Plain Sight is shorter than the rest.
Will gets some of the best lines to say in WW! .... in "Undecideds" he gets rooked into helping plan with the wedding of middle daughter Ellie - he ends up holding 2 wedding dresses given to him awkwardly - in the office of CJ the group conversation goes to why certain foods need to be avoided for the wedding (no one figured out that Ellie is pregnant) - CJ then says that an empire waist wedding dress could be better for Ellie to wear (hiding the pregnant tummy more- which Ellie didn't end up needing after all in the wedding episode...) - and poor befuddled Will just admits, "I have no idea what that means"... and the older war room intelligence family man in the room says to Will " Just do it for your country." 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That is priceless. I want Will as my brother! He gets behind "Bingo Bob" (of all people) and gives it his all - yet doesn't quite get why no one else in the White house isn't behind the VP. Will is super smart - and check his card skills in "Evidence Not Seen" ! 😎 To me, Will is kinda like Donna - innocent - trusting - and fun to watch them grow in their characters. Kate and Will are like two wonderful oddballs - mini golf - just 'looking like we are talking together' - Kate to me, is kinda like a Josh... more dangerous and experienced with their love life's burns. Both don't really trust anyone, (Josh charms his way through better and covers himself with all of his energy) but would be great with a more 'calmer' personality match. ( Josh and Amy - yuck. ) Kate knows her stuff and has a lot of experience - but still seems a little young to hardly ever see Nancy McNally in the SIT room anymore... just MO. I like Kate's honesty. I really enjoyed this couple on WW. Although, I have to admit I don't understand what she sees in him. She's practically a trained assassin and he's more like a little white puppy. BUT, I'm happy for them nevertheless.
He's good at what he does. He's eloquent, a great writer and confident in his ability. Whilst women are of course interested in good looks; she in her thirties. She's been married. She's been a field agent. She's done pretty, she's done exciting bad boys and daredevils. A talented, eloquent and socially responsible man is going to be more attractive to her than when she was a freshman in college.

I'm sometimes imagine a West Wing continuation in the 2020s. With Will Bailey in a high position in the house and Josh as senator from Connecticut during something like the Trump-presidency all working together to find the right person to challenge him in the next election.

I remember there was the scene were she forgot her bra and they were debating whether he should mail it to her and they said "We'll get better at this right?" But I dont remember all these scenes were its out in the open about their relationship.

Episode 22, Exeter-Haverhill Line (Rail): Kate should have pronounced it "Haverill" (no h sound) - that's what locals call the town. The West Wing is good at getting very local terms, but I guess they missed this one!
All I can say is thank God they put them together. That relationship did more to fix Will's character than the previous two seasons combined.

OK.... either Im high or something because I do NOT remember all these scenes. I watch WW like every few months from start to finish and I dont remember these scenes. I remember there was the scene were she forgot her bra and they were debating whether he should mail it to her and they said "We'll get better at this right?" But I dont remember all these scenes were its out in the open about their relationship.

Episode 22, Exeter-Haverhill Line (Rail): Kate should have pronounced it "Haverill" (no h sound) - that's what locals call the town. The West Wing is good at getting very local terms, but I guess they missed this one!
Why would she know that? More likely she would mispronounce it.

And Kate wasn't a local. Perfectly normal for her to mispronounce the name.
