Roommates get old fast. I don't want to take care of people, their pets or have strangers living in my garage coming in to use bathroom. The only peaceable solution is my own space.
One reason l got my RV is because l can’t do the dorm living so many seasonal jobs offer. No roommates for me and l have a dog
Rent should never be a problem for us and shouldn’t be over 10% of what we make.
Things are getting worse and corporations are getting greedier.
Rent in often 70% and electricity+water another 10-20%. 😥

its called inflation dawg. they printed 1/5th of the total money supply in circulation in the past 3 years and screwed over landlords during the pandemic so people weren't allowed to be evicted even after they stopped paying their bills

Note to the wise: if you wind up living with your parents, please contribute to the household. You can mow the grass, offer to cook for them, help with cleaning the house, take them places, pay the electric, gas and water bill, and just sit with them and talk sometimes.

I contribute to the household
I used to be a property manager at a storage unit facility and we had people living in their units quite frequently. In fact, one guy was situated in the very back of the property and I made sure to treat him properly and with respect. He was my eyes and ears for the real trouble-makers. He rented two units right next to each other and kept his stuff in one and slept in the other.
Is that legal?

$550 /$600 should be the TOP (the most) anyone should pay for a room.
In my area, things have gotten so bad, people are charging between $1,400 and $1,600 just for a single room. My mind is blown.

I pay 550...every year the rent goes up 50 bucks wich sound reasonable. I get 1200 a month..so its doable for right now. Bit if it goes up...I will have to find homes for 2 cats and a bunny. I will be 70 in dec. Have 3 kids none of which have said hey mom we will help. Kids are assholes.

i paid $400 for 2 years for a spot and only had 1 other roomate in a entire house so it didnt feel like i was renting a room

I bought the cheapest house I could find near family last year. I work remotely. It doesn't matter where I live. I don't drink anymore, and I don't date, so living in a large city no longer interests me now that I'm in my mid 30s. I bought in the small city about ten minutes away from where I grew up. I found an old rental. It was $30,000 and I paid cash. It needs work, and I'm doing that as I have time, money, and interest to do so, but it's comfortable and just enough for me. Not lavish by any means.
Once I realized that housing, no matter if you rent or own, is an expense not an investment, my entire mindset shifted and a cheap old rental became a very viable option. I've now eliminated the highest part of most peoples expenses, and a key part of inflation calculators!
Thinking of doing the same, same age too. I live in a big city but the costs are not worth it anymore. I am starting to hate people generally and just need peace. Do you regret leaving the city (boredom)and what work do you do remotely?

I do not regret leaving the big city. I don't date and I don't have friends, but neither of those things are because I do or do not live in a big city. Where I'm at now is about 28k people and my neighbors are on top of me, lol. There is no loneliness out where I am.
Exactly. Housing is a stop loss. An expense. I've always thought that people that said their house was the best investment they could make were nuts.
He could also add Class A truck driving to the list. If you don’t mind driving, its definitely a way to have a career & not pay for a roof over your head.
My son is 25. No wife and no children. I'm trying to convince him to do it.
Truck drivers AR truly the original vehicle nomads and I encourage anybody to try that lifestyle

This might be a bit extreme and hippie like for most people, but If enough like minded people could come together and pool our income we could literally purchase multiple properties together and even live in mansions. Just imagine what kind of property 30 or 40 people could buy together.

I love this idea! Idk why families don’t do this, like some mansions have 6-7 bathrooms , 2 kitchens, & 20 rooms. 10,000 sq ft.. The rent or mortgage is usually like $6000 a month. 15 ppl pay $400 a month for rent, and there is the mortgage. You’re living in luxury for less than what you’d spend on a 1 bed in any city.
The taxes and insurance would be exorbitant.
On some UA-camchannels, I have seen empty mansions that are very cheap due to certain circumstances. Find people to buy with you to help fix up the house.
Thats how the Chinese do it when they come here. No lie. Friends of mine lived in a mansion but a family in each room. Their parents saved and paid their education…I think it’s great.
I bought a beautiful house in Andalucía Spain for $42K AND it comes with a large apartment that I rent out and covers my costs 100%. The USA is unliveable.
My five-year plan is to live in a different country. Working on that, now!

I did it like this. Buy raw land. Pay to get driveway and clearing out in. Build own home. Yes you need $ and tools up front. But now I'm rent/mortgage free and have my own place. Living debt free and owning property is possible it takes sacrifice up front. I live off grid.

my land is in the middle of nowhere so i could just camp until i build an adobe house, my family has mature wooded land. so i have wood if im willing to harvest and cut it
you should make your own video! And on top you can grow easy edible plants that don't take much work.

I live in Orange County, CA. Rent here is outrageous. $2k minimum. I got lucky to find a family that rent me a room for $450/month. I feel seriously blessed. They don't ask me for utilities.

I'm in Orange County, CA as well and I'm about to have to put my stuff in storage and live out of my car for a while because rent is over 2500/month for a 1 Bedroom apartment and the apartments flat out refuse to negotiate at all on rent. Just straight up will not negotiate at all. It's kinda sad because I'm a DOT driver for an Amazon Contractor and I still don't make enough money. I don't have family to move back in with either.

Remove the Section 8 suggestion from your list. People wait up to 10 years to be called up for Section 8 housing and lately a majority of landlords are no longer accepting Section 8 tenants.
The housing for Section 8 is usually in a bad part of town and is not safe. The wait lists are long and there is multiple hoops to jump through to get on it. I would use it as a last resort.
@@Angela_Fleming I actually do live in low income housing and agree there are setbacks. But I also have only been paying 50 dollars a month rent for the last 5 years after spending decades homeless and in difficult living situations to say the least. Having your own place, not having to worry about rent eliminates a lot of the problems so many people face and are stressed by every day. Time is your ultimate resource and is limited. Use it to maximize your own ambitions and interests or at the very least to create some happiness for yourself and if the situation presents itself and you are capable, maybe some other people.
It’s still an option. Nothing is perfect. But it’s better then being homeless.

I lived in my van most of the last 35 years. I finally bought a dirt cheap house in this small town and live in my house for free. Most little towns have condemned abandoned houses and you can stealth camping one as you buy it... And just get one room done. Most people have an eagle that's worth thousands of dollars a month to support

Hey Tim. Get a steam tractor book that lists all the tractor shows in the USA. A vending spot to sell stuff is about 25.oo for a week or more. Shower and electricity usually included. I set up a table and sold potato peelers on open times.
I did the same thing. Paid $33k cash for a completely livable home on 1/2 acre. Costs me less than $300 per month for everything including tax & insurance.

Im fortunate to say I got to WWOOF in Hawaii for 3 months last year! Literally got to live in Hawaii RENT FREE. it was absolutely magical and got to spend my time in nature everyday and only worked 22-25 hours per week, most food staples and private “housing” provided. It honestly felt like a cheat code to life. There are some weird farms out there but I totally recommend it to everyone.

It really was paradise! We had to leave our first farm within 3 weeks for several reasons, a big one being that our host was kind of a creep/perv, let’s just say the outdoor shower situation made a lot of girls uncomfortable. And previous wwoofers on the same island confirmed that. And then there are the “failed cult” and/or plantation farms where it can feel like you’re just slaving away and not being respected and since you live on their land, you have to follow all their rules no matter what. I didn’t end up with that kind of farm but I heard a few stories. This is the only downside to WWOOFING. Also dealt with a minor hostility as a “visitor” on Molokai, the island thats most protective of Hawaii and its culture. Then I went to Maui and felt A LOT more accepted. The Maui farm was beautiful, it was high-production vegetable farm and we could see the entire island at 3500ft up the mountain. And the hosts were so nice 🥲 and we got to use their spare car to explore the island!
I would say MOST of the farms out there are good farms and genuinely good people. It was an unforgettable experience and extremely rewarding. Getting to experience the island like a local. And the fruit in Hawaii is so delicious and unmatched to mainland fruit lol.
The biggest lesson I learned is treat the whole island with respect cause we took the land from them years ago, so it’s very sacred land and come with aloha. Im actually going back later this year!

I have done several of the things you mention. I am currently living in a two room office with powder room. Kitchen is a small refrigerator, induction cooktop, 3 quart Instant Pot, and toaster oven. Rent includes utilities and WiFi plus a parking spot. Landlord is more focused on getting responsible tenants than jacking up rents. Having a smaller place to take care of is an advantage when you are disabled.

I save a lot of money and saving up for a house while getting criticized by people who struggle to pay rent when I love my living situation. Save nearly half my income doing this.

I moved back in with my parents after my Navy duty ended in my mid-20s (military service is another way to live cheap. Free room and board!). Like yourself, I had to endure the social stigma of it and caught flak from others for "failing to launch." But since I wasn't winning any popularity contests anyway, I didn't care one bit. I'm not the least bit ashamed of saving a metric f**kton of money.

I live in my car and get a hostel or cheap Airbnb/hotel every 2-3 days. This brings my daily rent cost to about 15 a night which is about 10-15% of my income at the moment. Far better than the 60-70% most people are paying. Obviously it’s not perfect and not for everyone. But it’s grown on me. I can sleep just about anywhere and it’s always an adventure. I love the flexibility and savings. I finally have the disposable income to live how I want. I can invest. I can probably even start paying off a plot of land this way and work on building a property in my off time. Idk it just works for me. Way better than dealing with roommates and all the drama that comes with. I also love not being stuck on a lease to some big company.

I agree, how sad is this video that the suggestion is even made to live in your car, a tent etc. I own a small rental house and I have a good tenant who causes no problems. Haven't raised the rent in the 3 years she has been there. I don't want to squeeze her budget so that she struggles to pay me another $100 or $150 a month. I am not rich. I strive to provide a decent property at an affordable rate. It is a win-win for both of us. I cant stand greedy landlords who charge the max for the property and do nothing to maintain that property year after year.
@@Lswisdom77 it's also about grown people wanting something for nothing. Wanting other hard workers to take care of them while they chill working part-time or 4 days a week. Opportunity is just that, opportunity. Those who make the most of it are not the ones having any of these issues. They are the ones with multiple homes.
A lot of these are very uncomfortable solutions but housing has become a very uncomfortable situation. I lived with my mother for a while after getting tired of rising rents so I could save up to put down on a house. It wasn’t a good situation for me but it was the smartest thing I have ever done. I advocate always having a plan and being focused on achieving your goal. You may live in your car for a year, but figure out how to move up. Maybe you need to move to a state where it’s cheaper. Maybe you need to take on a hustle. Whatever you do, don’t give up. I promise that while life gets daunting, a good life is possible

That sounds exactly like what I may have to do. I may have to move to a state that is cheaper. I currently live in South Florida, which is one of the most expensive areas in the country. I love it here, especially considering that I am a native here. It's too expensive though, in my opinion. I am tired of the exorbitant rent prices and I have decided that I may live in my car for a few months. This will allow me to save, then move to Georgia.

One thing he didn’t mention was joining the military. You will live rent free on a ship or barracks on a base. It might not be for everyone but you can really save money and don’t need transportation ( no commute)

I tried seasonal work for the 1st time last year thanks to Tim. It wasn't all rainbows and sunshine but let me tell you, I was able to pay off half of my credit card debt over the summer working a seasonal job. I worked my butt off but since housing was deducted from my paycheck, my net pay was all mine so I was just knocking down debt real quick. I could never do that when I was working a regular job and paying rent. You could do this just to save money if you are discipined. I recommend you go for a job as a CDL bus driver. it pays better than most other seasonal gigs. Good look!

How about buying land with close friends or family and putting RVs, Vans or Mobile Homes in a circle for protection if the county allows? Set up separate bathrooms and shower areas in a shed.
You just have to find a spot of land that allows it. There r laws, different everywhere

I’m 38 and I live with my parents and brothers in a 2 story house in California worth over 2 million dollars.
I pay only $1000 a month and I have everything I need. Don’t listen to people who try and shame you for living with your parents. You may be able to even live for free with them. No shame in it at all.

Good for you, man. I never understood why people got butt hurt when someone of mature age still lived with their parents. It's like, how does this person's living arrangement affect your life? They can never answer that question.
Love this. I have people and family members that have shamed me for living with my parents. Dating people feel some type of way. It is sad that we have push the normality of what should happen on today views. But in other countries it is normal to live with family. Now corporation are building multi-family homes. Funny. I don't care what people think I happy to help my family and they help me.

I own a small home and rent out my spare bedroom to traveling nurses. So yes, I am giving up on my privacy and I feel like I am a renter with a roommate rather than a home owner but it’s a small sacrifice in order to save money and have more financial freedom.

Good info. A person has to be resourceful! People have been believing that the only way to live is to be in debt (like the Jone's) with a car payment, a house payment and credit card debt. Get resourceful and "test yourself" to see how frugally you can live -- there is freedom in living more frugally. That said, if you opt to live with parents and you're a grown adult -- pull your weight there -- or contribute so it's WAY MORE valuable to the parents that you are there. There are a lot of deadbeat people who don't work/contribute and these parents are nearing retirement...many parents are trying to think about their own retirement and affording expenses, so if this arrangement is okay with your family, just remember to not be a sponge because an extra person in the house $$$ adds up.
Rent is too expensive
Tim I would absolutely buy a tent from Walmart but I cannot stress enough the lunacy of purchasing a tent from Amazon. I have spent $150 and found a tent of that price leaks on the first rain. Lots of garbage product and phony product flooding Amazon lately.
And they keep increasing their prime membership, now it’s $150! I didn’t renew mine this year and you are right about products, also, their pricing isn’t so great anymore! Plus I was waiting 5 to 10 days to get packages even though I was a prime member 😡
Just about any tent you buy needs to be sprayed and sealed with scotchguard, but I do agree about the quality of the China made products.

To those considering house sitting, you can end up in a really cool destinations. When my parents lived in a condo in Belize, they hired a couple who house sat for a living. It was this couple’s job to travel all around the world and look after people’s belongings and pets with their (tiny) dog in tow. They were booked out for months in advance. Not a bad gig at all!!! 😁🤙
Move overseas. Most countries you can get a normal apartment for $200 per month. Most places in Latin America, Southeast Asia, Africa, South Asia, and Eastern Europe you can live a great life if you have a Social Security check or reliable online income.

Ikr, in my area I can’t even find a room for $500 these days. And the cheaper places out there are not safe, they have bed bugs, etc.
A room in the area I live is around $800-$1,100 insane!!
I have a friend she rent a small room for $800 and she has to pay a part of the electricity bill separate.
$500 is what I pay along with a portion of the utilities. HOWEVER still cheaper than what I use pay which was $1,000 per mth along with other bills.
A room in NJ is well over $1000. It's close to paying actual rent for a real apt. People basically want you to pay their mortgage. The greed is real.
One bedroom apartment is $1200-$1500.

I live in New Jersey and the Rent is absolutely ridiculous, that’s why I plan saving every penny for about year then I’m leaving for Arizona
The costs of living are going up in AZ as well. The wages are low out here compared to other states. I would advise to research things before you move locations. 🌵🌞

Everyone is moving everywhere except CA because everyone is hurting and looking for a way out or a better path. Once AI takes over the job market people are literally going to starve without jobs let alone have housing or be able to retire. The government won’t have a tax base if people can’t work.
I lived for about 4 years in a large 10X40 self-storage unit in Crescent City, California, Illegally of coarse. Finally got busted, but the owners were really nice to me and just told me to sleep outside the unit (motel, apt, anywhere off the property). My rent was $200 a month.

I did the same thing in FL except it was a 10x30. I had it set up like an apt with a kitchen, shower, compost toilet, etc. LoL
I think the office idea is really good. I rented an office a dozen or so years ago for $150 a month. It was small but big enough to have a bed in it. The great thing is people will just assume that you are burning the midnight oil and are a hard worker.

Turns out that they owned the building and converted the fifth floor into their own house. That was their car that I saw all of the time.

But when you are at an exclusive business only low rise building in the suburbs that can be scary for a female who is entering or leaving the office late after hours. It is weird. I understand that in some towns there are communities built with businesses on the bottom and residential on the top. You still don't expect someone to be sleeping or living in the business area. Nor is it sanitary.

The owners explained that the husband had bad asthma and the office building didn't have dust like their previous home did. Of course? I checked out their story with the building management. It was true.
It took me a long time to learn it, but I did learn. Instead of trying to pay for all the things we want, try not wanting everything. A simplistic lifestyle with no material baggage can do wonders for a limited budget, not to mention we really don't need all the stuff. It's liberating to live this way.
My neighbor down the street rents her shed in the backyard to a guy. I used to rent out a room until the tenant robbed me while I was at work. I came home to an empty house. The police said it was a civil matter and I’d have to take them to court. Be careful renting rooms to strangers.
I rented rooms when I was single. Back then I just needed a place to sleep and store my few possessions. I also shared an apartment with my brother. Many years later I got married to my wonderful wife who inherited the house she grew up in.

I had a 3 bedroom house that i lived in all by myself and honestly I loved it. But I became sick with covid when it came to the United States and both my lungs collapsed. I had to have several surgeries and I couldn't work anymore so I lost my job, lost my big ass house and had to move back home to my parents. They are in their mid 70s and I couldn't be happier with how things worked out. My parents are so happy I'm here with them to help them where I can. My mom can barely walk so I'm able to help her do more stuff. There is nothing wrong with moving back home. I'm saving a lot of money too. Lol

Similar situation with myself. I ended up with cancer. Had to quit my job. Sold my home. Used the money to buy a RV. But I also moved back in with my parents and my mom helps take care of me while in treatment. It is nice being back home. I can tell my mom is happy to have me around…even under such circumstances. And I enjoy the company too. And it’s so nice not to have the pressure of bills for once. I can’t wait until I am healthy enough to get on the road to enjoy RV life 😊

On the road in an rv exploring all of the amazing places I've always wanted to see. Here in Colorado alone, there are so many I want to see. Even if your income is really good, 24k a year on rent is too much, just think 4 years of living there is almost 100k!!! If after 4 years if you don’t have 100k for yourself but you gave it to someone else you be mad as hell!

Yes !! and to add to the office (or airbnb) idea! You can always get an air fryer and a crock pot too cook fresh also. I have made amazing seafood and pasta dishes in mine, and you can just have that sitting atop a mini fridge. Same appliances you would find in any office environment. Have a single desk and a chair - with a futon/pull-out couch in the corner. It will easily look like you're just a consultant pulling some long nights. - I used to travel with a small $15 hotpot when i airbnb hopped in LA....i could steam frozen fish fillets or shrimp in the vegetable tray, while i cooked rice or ramen below - in my room....and it easily fit in my suitcase when I get on the go.
I sincerely appreciate all the information you're providing in this video. It's just sad that we're at this point in society now where we have to try and escape having our own places because the cost of living is too high. Ultimately we need systemic changes to address the cause of this imbalance. This cannot go on forever. Here in the USA we are a first-world country. It's about time we start acting like it.

Same here in WA state. Rents have doubled and are even higher in newer apartments. I live with my sister and we share rents and expenses. We are in a two bedroom apartment. Back in 2019 we literally saved an older woman who got evicted when her husband died and she had not received his SSI yet. The landlord didn't't care and it was snowing outside in January. We really didn't know her but helped her out. She had been in the hospital and we helped her get paperwork done and drove her around because her son had taken her truck and left her. After 6 months went by and she was still here I asked her to pay 1/3 of the rent and expenses. She was not happy. I had discovered that she was just staying there and had saved up 10,000 dollars while I was selling items to pay rent. Another three months went by and she just up and moved out which left us in a bind. My sister had slept on the couch for 9 months so she could have her room. Anyhow...sometimes there are just too many people in a small space and it sucks!
I lived in Austin for nine years. And left just before everyone decided to move there. Wonderful city it's way to crowded now.
I paid 1900 for 2 bedrooms in TX. Not including water, trash, internet pest control, deposit, electric, and apt insurance. Total roughly 2600.
Good video Tim. I found a place to live a few months ago. I live in a shared house with one other person. The only thing I "pay" is I work 10 hours a week for their organization. My rent is free and I have my own big room. Internet, Electric and Water are all free. I also got rid of 99 percent of my worldly possessions.

Divorced recently with 3 children. I own multiple rentals but ended up moving into one of my vacant 1 bedrooms because prices are ridiculous where we live😂. If it weren’t for Dad and his job we would leave for a cheaper state . Prayers for us all

I rent a room, work full time and door dash. Saving for a used van. They are so expensive now. Why spend so much for a place to RENT.
I don’t own a house and I haven’t paid any rent for last 4 years. So I don’t spend any money on housing or utilities. I either sleep at my work place in an office, at family houses as their overnight pet sitter, or sometimes in my car. It works for me this way and I am able to save a lot from my income.

You forgot living in an RV.
Many have downsized to this and are quite comfortable.
You have to choose a Good neighborhood.
Test the waters, to see if it's quiet,
if the people are friendly, you know.
They have RV Parks where people live here in CA.
I was going to get a house, but they are overpriced.

WORD OF CAUTION: Keep vigilant if you are going to do one of those woof or work in exchange things. They can turn sour quickly when they realize they got you stuck there and instead of working the agreed upon 3 hours or whatever, over time you are doing more and more work. This can happen in any caretaking, whether its live in motel manager, maid, farm hand, nanny, etc. Been there, got the tshirt. I never really knew it was something that can happen until it was. Always have a backup plan, where you can say, adios!❤
I'm married with 4 kids but my oldest moved out 2 years ago. I still have the 3 kids living with me. I was lucky enough to have a full time job just get us going month after month. 2 bedroom apartment is about $1300, with all other bills we are paying above $1800 each month. It's manageable but it's rough. That means we don't have spare money for small enjoyment. Life is going to be much harder unless I can a better paying job.
Roommate situation is getting crazy too...I'm hearing that a lot of them are basically looking for people to pay most of the rent, so 2 bedroom apt is $1300 pm and they wanted $900/1000 pm 😢 ...not helpful. Be cautious.

You could definitely save up very fast and have a roof over your head. And be paid to see all america. I know a guy who saved up 50,000k his first year.

My husband and I are still homeless and given my husband’s jobs and my declining health, we can’t live out of our vehicle or a tent anymore. We need and want a home. Fun Fact - We found out most people who rent rooms do so to single people more than married couples. Backwards but sadly true. Unfortunately also, in PA, UHaul wouldn’t let us stay in our storage unit and as for families, we were abused, forced to live in a cold basement, denied the use of their showers and bathtubs, and threatened to being kicked out to the point that we are now glad to leave - though it breaks my heart my family have done this. Yet for those who read the Bible, it’s not a surprise.

@@bigguy1403It is touch and go. My health has deteriorated and because of that and being unable to cook or bathe properly, I lost my job and I developed clostridium difficile. Worse, I found out most employers do not let those sick with that condition come back to work until it’s stabilized. (It can never be completely removed from the human body). It’s caused even more massive medical debt as I had to end up going to several different hospitals for appropriate care and they warned that C diff (clostridium difficile) not only can kill but it has a frequency to reoccur. Guess what happened? :(

I lived at flying Jays trucks stop for a year. this is south Carolina I would just come after work I met this young man that worked at the store for the truckers it has showers so I would hit him off $$ and receive the keys to the shower..next door was a old fashion restaurant that made some cook pork chop omg well at night I would go in the TV room for the trucker and chit chat ..if you behave no one will care..

OMG Tim, you have no idea what I've been going thru!!! I live in New Jersey. Since covid, rent has skyrocketed to the f*ckin moon. It has gone up like 40-50% and I'm not exaggerating. I've been looking for a 1 bdrm (or studio) for months. There is nothing affordable. Avg prices are around $1800 to start!! That's in an ok neighborhood. A nice area is $2000+. I feel sick. My last apt in 2021 I was paying $1060 for a studio. That same studio has been remodeled by a new owner and is now marketed as a 1 bdrm (not even close) and renting for $1775!!! Anyways, currently still living with my ex boyfriend until I can find a place that won't take all of my money. Luckily he is a nice guy and still my best friend.
Consider Delaware. I pay $1300 for a two bedroom in a safe neighborhood. For what you pay in Jersey, you could own a house in DE.

I am blessed and pay $525 for a studio apartment everything included in Raleigh NC near NC STATE in a good area.I live in a old complex built in the early 70s so it has seen better days but you can't beat the price.Overall Raleigh is booming and getting very expensive for housing.

Great video Tim. I'm looking at getting a lot and tiny house through Incredible Tiny homes, out of Newport Tennessee. Lot rent is 200 to 300 month on their different communities. They sell homes that are very affordable. The 8 by 16 is 20k, and the 8 by 20 is 25k.
Around 7:40 when he talks about the living room my old landlord made a small room in the corner of the living room which had a closet and dresser along with a bed and rented it out for $110 so it can definitely work out
I was also thinking about living in a tent, now in America you would be considered homeless but let's look at people in Afghanistan living in a cave or people in Africa/ Brazil living in huts or somewhere where it's cold living in igloos are you homeless...... We need to start thinking on a global scale not a local one

6:08 if you’re in college, become a residential hall advisor - most will give you a single room, highest meal plan, and a phone bill stipend to cover your cell phone because you’ll be on call weekly. Not to mention, you’ll get job experience. Some colleges offer these positions during summer and winter breaks as well. If you’re not in college but have this type of experience coming out of college, you could apply to be a residential hall director and have all the same benefits plus a salary. Most of these positions usually also require a masters degree in that field/university leadership, education etc., but always an option to continue getting housing and meal plan in this manner. If you’re going for such a degree, many colleges will provide a tuition waiver or stipend as a grad student to cover your tuition and fees while you are a residential hall deputy director/assistant or associate director.
i wonder if they would consider an older than college aged dorm monitor, a dorm dad if you will. id keep those darn kids in line, but i'd be cool about it too
@@jasonrist6582 good news if you live in Ca. If over 55 you can go to any of the Stare Universities (I think there are 11) free tuition, free fees, you buy books. You could possibly get $6000 FAFSA low interest loan every year which you don’t start repaying until you graduate and then you can pay low payments if your income is low. Minimum credits you must take is 11 i think. Combine that with a residential advisor job could be great ….but sadly I do suspect they want young people for that position though they can’t openly discriminate.

Will be living in my small trailer and work camping in campgrounds. A lot of work camping positions give a free site. Half my pay was going towards rent and l had very little left after my bills were paid.
