When are you planning to do a review on the 2024 North Orbit? Seriously though, North should just give you a sponsorship, or even have you test their pre released kites. Your videos, and unbiased positive feedback of the Orbits in comparison to all the other flagship kites, and interactions with the fellow youtube kiter community have probably contributed to more Orbit sales than any team rider has. You're videos are awesome, I always get super excited anytime you drop a new video or post. Take care sir!
Thanks for that! Hopefully we’ll get them in New Zealand soon, can’t wait to borrow one. Probably going to be the first season I don’t buy a new orbit, as I just bought an 8m Dlab.
Epic review again, bro. Really like these longer in depth style over a period of time spent with so many kites. By the same rider in the same conditions. Hope to see more videos when possible. Thanks
Just a quick fact update... Cabrinha COS control (and actually 02 quickloop) come with 18m lines +2 +4 m extensions. The COS bar in the video has this configuration so any length between 18m and 24m in 2m increments can be ridden with the stock control system.
Great comment, I totally didn't notice because I was told the bar was coming to me with 22m lines and 2m extensions, and the bar arrived with the 18/4 combination already on the bar, and the additional 2m on the side. I'm going to make a note on the video's description to account for that, thanks!
Another excellent review, thanks. You mention the dominance of the Evo DLab in the 10m size with Orbit/Nitro being the best of the rest, but very curious how you feel a 10m Evo SLS might stack up against those kites ..? or if you haven’t ridden one, what’s your hunch given what you know about the Evo shape and SLS materials. Cheers
I would add... I assume the evo sls is a great kite for all around riding, and in smaller sizes certainly for kiteloops... I think if you are already proficient in loops then you probably wouldn't have any issues with it in the 10m size, but that is not the size I would want to be learning them on with any kite, except perhaps the Rise
Saw a Vantage Vulture in background. There was some buzz about this particular kite few years back with the way company designed it using some very advanced software and scientific testing approach. Would be nice to know your opinion about it. Does the approach work or is it another marketing trick? There are very few reviews on it online that mostly come from their team riders that cant really be objective. Other than that, awesome review, as always. Good video footage and clear explanations! Thank you!
I flew a Vulture after buying the 10m. Put some time one it. In comparison to the kites he’s talking about the Vulture is meh. It works. It loops (kinda slowly for a 3 strut though). Average boosting. Like a lot of the other decent 3 strut kites out there nowadays. Not in the same league as Evo d lab, orbit, Rebel etc. cheers
@@corpuskitersure you flew it on the right setup? In France Vantage tops the woo ranking month after month. Anyways my experience is the opposite, likely the most catchy looping kite I have flown. Anyways all personal prefs anyways
For big air, I pump Aluula kites to 8psi, and other kites to around 10-11psi. This would be from the conditions, and possibly a bit of me feeling out the kite as that was only 5-10mins into my first time on it, and the wind was a very gusty/holey 25-40 knots... As I mentioned in the review, the kite holds up beautifully in 25-30ish, but once you start getting around 35+ it gets more shakey than some of the other kites I'm talking about.
@@andreaszierhofer3078 yeah hopefully, our windy season is ending soon so getting the 9m wind that I need to test kites fairly will start to get limited unfortunately
Great video mate! I think eventually you'll have to start separating your reviews into comparing Aluula kites vs. Aluula kites and Dacron kites vs. Dacron kites.
Hey bro, your reviews are by far the best out there. I was wondering if you think the orbit is a fun kite to have, it will be my only kite, 8m, in winds from 18 to 35 knots I would like to have a friendly kite, safe and smooth loops and great hangtime !

Great Video. By any chance, although it's not made for, do you know the low-end-performance of the Nitro over the Switchblade (in 12). And since the Nitro has little bar pressure, could it be an option also for foiling? Thanks.
Thanks for the reply. I mean I understand that's what it's made for. I just thought speed and agility could maybe work for a good low end and little bar pressure could be good match for Foiling?! Maybe someone else ha tried...
@@philipheckmann3994 I mean that I’m comparing big air kites, only a few like the reedin or pivot tend to be better all around kites, so its light bar and fast for a 5 strut big air kite, but not compared to 3 strut (or less) wave or foil kites
I ride the north orbit, but on mega windy days would use an XR6 7m which I’ve set all my PR’s on, but I way prefer the catch and heliloop of the orbit. Is there a kite that you would say boosts like the XR but catches and loops similarly to the orbit?
I used to do the same (as per my first comparison video), 8m xr7 for woosting, 9-11m orbits for regular sessions/progression. For kites in the middle (non aluula), the Flysurfer Era might do the best for a bit of each, or the rebel sls which is so easy to boost with, and loops very well too (check out my videos in those kites). If you want to splash out, of course the Evo dlab is the overall top of the heap.
I have tried them a couple times, but wasn’t a big fan for big air specifically. They have a nice tight loop so they’re easier for loop progression than say an XR, but still too heavy on the bar pressure for me to be one of the better progression options, and not a ton of power for going big woosting etc. I think a Reach, Reedin, or perhaps Dice/Evo Sls are probably preferable in this category for me.
coming from the neo, it seems that the evo sls is well sought after these days, what s the best cheaper alternative that has the same feel and helps with progressing and it’s good all around, more interested in the low end (no 5 struts)
I've only tried the dlab evo, but I would imagine the standard evo and sls are great for overall progression. As per my videos, I would choose an Orbit over them myself, mainly for the easy progression with kiteloops, but if you are not looking for 5 strut then the North Reach is a great option, my wife rides those after learning on neos
Thank you for the awesome reviews!!!! I am the same weight as you and wanted to know what you think are the wind ranges for the evo dlabs in 9, and 10? I am going to get a 12 and am debating a 9 or 10m. I am not to the level where i'm going out over 35 knots.
I tend to ride the 12 from about 16-22, the 10 from about 20 to 30, and the 8 from late 20's and up... so I assume the 9 from about 22-35 would be mint.
Thank you for the amazing reviews! One question please...Have you tested the Orbits of 2024 or have you heard something in comparison of the 2023 Orbits? I am about to buy 12m/9m Orbits and i must decide. Of course the price of the 2023 Orbits is better..Thank you in advance!
I have not flown them yet, but a friend of mine who is the same level of rider has been riding a new 9m (he previously rode '23) and he does prefer it for it's similar performance, but improved stability. He did say that it didn't feel quite as quick however as the 2023 so I think there is an argument that in larger size (10 and up), that the '23 much be a better option, but in the smaller size where you are likely to ride in stronger winds, then the 2024 would be the move
Hi Jason. From what I understood the Nitro, is particularly fast in "catching" you after a loop. Still, you announce a "safe looping height" of 5 m witch is about the same you've announced in a previous video for the Supermodel from Reedin. I've been riding a supermodel for the last two years going for 7 to 12 m jumps, freeriding and foiling ... In your opinion, will a Nitro make a significant difference in "building my confidence "on 6 - 7 m kiteloops compared to my supermodel ? Thank you for your videos !
I find the nitro better for loop progression than the reedin v3 I tested a while back, but still most 8/9m kites are safe to loop if you know how and are consistently jumping over 5m. The size of the kite you’re trying with will matter a lot too of course, I suggest learning at first with an 8m. Every year kites get a bit better, so the first videos ratings were only compared to the kites at the time
Hi Jason, I love your kite reviews! As an experienced kiter looking to learn big air loops would you recommend the Rebell SLS or the Duotone DLab? Thanks in advance and happy landings 😊
Of those two, in terms of kite size, 7/8m the rebel sls probably easier, 9m either are great, 10m and up the dlab… as you might have noticed, I feel like the nitro/orbit are easier to learn loops on.
The kites are still fantastic, with more power and pull however on loops, I still find them more challenging for loop progression than say an orbit or nitro, but it every other way they’re probably superior. I test all kites on my preferred size 22m. I have ridden some kites on 23 & 24m lines and I realise you can jump higher on them, but I don't like the feeling as much in general, and more specifically on the loops. Unless you're just woosting, I prefer to stick to 22, or even a bit shorter for loops
@@jasonofmontreal In your opinion, between the XR7 and the Rebel SLS, which one has more boost and hangtime? I currently have the XR but I'm very curious about the Rebel
That’s tricky to say… the kites I’m testing tend to all be pretty good, but I do take very good care of them. I also sell/buy new kites every year or two so I’m not using them as long as you might need to to see crazy deterioration
I'm really curious to know if it will help to maintain the awesome functionality of the auto-unwind over time... because I was really impressed with how smooth it was... and does that annoying metal piece mean it won't wear as quickly as every other auto-unwind I've ever had does...
