After watching the 3 games, i'd be starting Koskinen in net. Smith was all over the place, trying to play defense and 'tender on a number of goals. The boys better stick to Kane like glue all series or we're in big trouble.

I know Kane was good but he really exploded in 2016. Like he went from an all star to a legend
He had to take on an even bigger role with guys like sharp and hossa gone
Idk because 2016 playoffs were pretty bad. Blues got the best of them in game 7, and that started chicagos trail of failure in the playoffs
He played in Switzerland during the lockout and came back on a totally different level. Not only a better player, but more mature as well. As a hawks fan I was worried that his antics as a younger player would force the front office to move him. Granted the return would of been astronomical, but still. You’re absolutely right though. Post lockout 88 vs pre lockout 88 are two different levels entirely.

This series is over in 3. Chicago is outmanned at every position, and in every situation. The Oilers are FOR REAL, and legitimate contenders. Chicago is old, and slow, and Edmonton has the two best players in the world. Winter is coming for the Blackhawks.
I agree, the oilers demolish the flames. The oilers having Leon and mcdavid is unreal, depending on this years playoffs anything can happen. But Chicago killed St. Louis 4-0. at this point, anything can happen. :)

After 3 games watched smith was rough in all 3 when Koskinen played he played good and sparked the team. Knowing Tippett he will start Smith for the experience and he’s a veteran in the league

Smith was complete trash against the hawks this season
Not really. He made 33 saves in a really tight game one loss. 38 saves in their win. He then had a bad game 3 but also wasn't getting much help from the rest of his team. I would still start Koski for the play-in but It's definitely not fair or accurate to say Smith was trash against the hawks.

@Rangus Well I'm a Blackhawks fan and I know we don't have the best odds of winning this. But tbh I wouldn't be disappointed if we lose. If we win, great. We'll just lose in a different round. No way are we winning the cup. We don't really have any pressure to win anything. If we lose, we get a chance to get supposedly the best player since McDavid. Actually I think I'd rather see the Hawks lose than win. We wont get anything if we beat the Oilers. Might as well go for the 1st pick

@dopey How is a .917 save percentage being 'beast'? You cannot go back to 2011/2012 and pull stats as if it's relevant. He's not a great goalie anymore. Great guy and great in the room though. He flops too much, gets deep in his net, and is unecessarily active in the net. Best breakout passes in the league though lol.

Numbers do not lie though, 917 is still 917. Sure, for his age it was decent, but that doesnt mean he's a palyoff beast.
These 'expected' save percentage statitics are interesting for sure. But he makes too many mistakes.
I mean, I hope he proves me wrong, obviously, because they will play him. But I just think he is not going to peform great. Koski should be starting. We will see though.
