The aesthetic, the vibes, this collection looks very haute couture in a little girl's fairytale kind of way. Kudos to Marc & happy to see he's still showing & producing quality merchandise...
Why yes, the garments look like those we MADE for our Barbies back then. Unfortunately, the proportions make them very costume-y and likely unwearable.
@wonderwhen6084 I kind of liked the boxy, oversized asthetic since it looks comfy. 😁 I would classify the "bra and exposed thong" dress as unwearable, though. 😆
@@belindawilliams4915 I definitely see 60s Supreme retro vibes but Liz as Cleopatra? Now that's a whole different type of aesthetic & vibes.... beautiful nonetheless. Check out John Galliano's Spring 2004 haute couture collection for Christian Dior. Now that's giving Liz as Cleopatra × 10!! ✨
😢😢This was a page straight out of my memory as a little girl playing with my dolls some actual Barbie but some of them were those cheaper dolls that couldn't bend their legs or arms and their clothes were made too big for them just hanging off of them. While me and my cousin played with our dolls while the adults played cards on that greyish taupe d*mn folding table just like that! YAAAAAEEEESSS! OMGOSH!!! THIS IS IT!!! YAAAAEEESS THIS IT IT, 😢😢😢😢😂😂😂😂RIGHT STRAIGHT FROM MY MEMORY, GENIUS MAN! ABSOLUTELY F'ING GENIUS! Brillant Marc👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🩵🩷🧡
*THIS IS WAY MORE BRILLIANT THAN YOU MIGHT THINK* he has made the clothes to replicate the problem you face when you make dolls clothes - the fabric does NOT scale down in its drape, fold and hand. You have to use super thin cloth for dolls clothes. He has scaled up the clothing but also scaled up the issues you have with dolls clothing.
This is stunning, I love the look the design and the dolls😍 my favorite were the black long maxi sheath with bell sleeves or sleeveless with large ivory buttons. So retro so chic. Now time to bring it down a little closer to my size but I must have that over sized hair❤
Love the concept !! and this can call "Less is More" no need any busy things to make it shine, the design very impact and original !! realy chic and modern too.
Marc, I LOVE THIS! Such gorgeous tailoring and interesting silhouettes. I died when you closed with the disco ball dresses. Swoon, bravo, perfection 💖🥂🎉
I see this show referencing the couture dolls used during wartime, when available fabric was scarce. In the years that followed dolls were used to show collections to buyers.
A collection of cr-zazy silhouettes fashioned out of gorgeous fabrics. It's pretty far out, but also pretty fabulous. Not sure about the Krusty The Clown shoes that appear at roughly 6:45...
I'm luvin the late 50s & 60s (Doll Girl Groups of the past remastered) Into A modern day couture show. Era that will Always hit our Souls to never forget
@@LannieLord it’s these pretentious, fashion bloggers that really send me 😂😂😂😂 That being said, I should smoke a blunt and watch the show. Maybe I’ll see something different. …
Great collection. Creative, sculptural & original. Some of the dresses were exquisite. Superb tailoring & fabrics/colours. Is it wearable? Not particularly ,but, sometimes, fashion became a form of visual art and takes a different level - such in this case.
How is it unwearable?? The models are wearing it… I would wear it especially the tracksuits and the jumpers… the evening gowns…the whole thing was masterful, wonder inducingly brilliant!🤩
😂 these look like my mothers dolls with the homemade clothes and shoes. Very nostalgic. ❤ thank you for this. There a couple items i would actually wear, like the big sweaters.
I'm loving the music. So relaxing and ethereal. I thought James Taylor was the source. However, I'm obviously incorrect cuz I can't find it upon the Tube. Anybody know who the tunes are via? Thank you kindly for the enlightenment.
I've watched several designers this year. Most have blended '60's with bedazzler given to 12 year old girls in '70s. Jacobs also channeling 60's but own vibe.
They say that fashion should hold up a mirror to our current culture. So I understand the Barbie moment we are experiencing. I can get beyond the outrageous hair, but I can't envision this collection becoming commercially successful. There must be a mandate to sell product, since the Marc Jacobs label is owned by LVMH. How many women will be able to pull off this look? That's the reason Alessandro Michele stepped down from Gucci. His design vision was too extreme for a luxury label.
Even though it was 62 years ago, I remember my 1st Barbie doll. She came in a black and white strip swimsuit and had her hair in a ponytail. Yes, this show brings back wonderful memories
Marc Jacobs this was a great collection one of his best though I feel from across the pond from the last show to close Couture Week in Paris Maison Margiela this in contrast though just as good it was like John Galliano past the torch to New York to keep thrilling us with anticipation for what’s to come these designers are thinking this is great.
To FULLY understand this show: LOOK at dolls by Mego in the 1970s . Cher , Diana Ross, Toni Tennille , Wonder Woman . Then you will fully understand this. But still, who would actually BUY and WEAR these clothes ?
Fashion is like wine. Stick a fancy label on it and it tastes better. Build enough hype and a grocery store wine wins champion. Don't get so drunk on elitism you lose sense of reality.
Women or rather their characteristics on display at the manipulatable scale? Love the clothes honestly and the references to tother designers vs very potent: Commes, Margiela doll collection, Barragan, Baby Phat, Juicy, 60's mod, Mowtown. Would wear any of the early looks in the collection: three button italian cut coats!!
Marc Jacobs the master of optical illusion of fashion. It's all optics in his designs. I absolutely enjoy the aesthetic of the designs ⭐
The aesthetic, the vibes, this collection looks very haute couture in a little girl's fairytale kind of way. Kudos to Marc & happy to see he's still showing & producing quality merchandise...
I see it that way, too.
동감입니다.
60~70년대 복고풍도 보이네요.
I smiled all the way through this, and sometimes laughed. Amazing
This reminds me of 1960s Barbie dolls, the Supremes, and Liz Taylor as Cleopatra. 😍😍😍

The 60s style will never go out of fashion. It is the bestest
This is fashion and able to be appreciated, even if it's not your aesthetic. The clothes look expensive and beautiful. Bravo.

Stunning 🤩 clothes to control the body. Marc Jacobs re sculpts the body… what a genius 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤩
The cut of those pants at 3:24 made me scream out loud...genius level work.
Great for show and can see how tweaking to less exaggerated fit would make ready for shelves.
This is art
MJ in his element...so original and yet so familiar...❤
I never knew Marc did Haute’ Couture.
Interesting line it is.
More art.. than anything.

He still has to sell clothing. It is an original idea based on nostalgia but this is absolutely unwearable

the stores will sale wearable clothes & the biggest profits always comes from accessories.

I think the allusion to dolls is not appealing. Not bc dolls are lifeless effigies, but can it evoke little girls as toys, too? Ick.
