While Zhang Ze is a beast and I love all his tracks, I do question the direction beatbox looping is going. There was a certain beauty to the limited effects of just the rc-505 and what you could do with it + your voice. With 2 extra devices, what's even the point of using the microphone? Seems super arbitrary now. We could just use a straight up synth for the same song. This is not shade on Zhang Ze BTW. It's just dude's so good that he got me questioning the scene lol.
You can see it as a daw production. U could say the reason for it is he grow from beatbox background, and doing it this way might give him more control over the sound than being a serum nerd tweaking nobs. It’s essentially decided by his background. And, of course, this is not beatbox.
