Honestly. I have been watching Jenna Marbles since I was quite young, and I still watch her to this day because I still think she is funny. She actually grew and changed as her audience grew and changed. If I watched a Jenna Marbles video from like 10 years ago, I would probably not find it funny anymore. Lilly Singh did not grow or change, and now she's seeing the repercussions of that.
Exact same thing with me. When I was like 12 i'd watch here videos all day and fell out of her content about a year later. She hasn't changed her content or comedy in the slightest
Hey Jamie OC might not have been aware of her getting a late night show or it's critics in the first place and before this it was definitely rare or at least not popularized to criticize her you had some videos here and there but it mostly stayed in comment sections which are cesspools of autism most the time now a lot of it is even her own previous fans.
I get it lol. But to be fair, her point is factual. Oprah was daytime television. Her statement has always been first woman of color on late night. She’s not a bad person and there are some really amazing things she’s done outside of entertainment. Like funding and promoting the building of schools and water sources in underprivileged countries. If she just leaned into that, instead of dated “comedy,” i don’t think the internet would have any problem with her
@@lightningonlycommentsonce5824 But her point isn't factual! African American Comedian monquie had a late night talk show from 2009-2011! Oprah's show being a daytime talk show( which is more challenging then a late night show) doesn't change the fact that she paved the road that lily was on! RESPECTFULLY 🙏🏾
To me I think that's a "tactic" she's picked up from bigger, actually funny comedians. Because sometimes it's that moment when a comic inadvertently ends up chuckling at themselves after delivering a particularly "bad" joke, seemingly as though they're trying to hold it in, that sells a joke (for me anyway, I'm really thinking of Kurtis Conner right now and how he'll deliver an absolutely horrendous pun and then laugh at himself, and that ends up being what makes me laugh too). But unfortunately for her, her "jokes" aren't consciously or deliberately bad before the held-in chuckle, so the entire thing falls flat.
It's a side effect of a UA-cam career. Working with other comics in sketch or improv helps you realize what's funny and what isn't, and it helps you question yourself to see if you're actually funny. She doesn't do that, so she doesn't have that sort of quality control real comics have.
The fact that she made a joke saying “mom said I could sleep over” on her 1am late night tv show proves to me that she acts like a children’s entertainer. What adult genuinely laughs at a joke like that?
"let's use Ellen Degeneres as another example, even if you don't personally watch her yourself you have to admit how likable she is"... yeah that line did not age well
I’d imagine that female standup comedians who have been working and writing for years had to have been pissed. They were passed over for an unfunny youtuber.
@@oggie_champ2636 most stuff in media can be perceived as working in comedy. being a youtuber and making funny things doesn't make you a comedian. Which is who should be leading a talk show. lily singh is not a comedian she's a hacky youtuber.
I agree, esp the ones that are like "I AM A PERSON OF COLOR!!" every 5 seconds, like I understand being proud but if you truly want to break the mold, than represent us properly and produce actual good work, stop making race a personality trait
@@callyszt You're right! Everytime I see this sort of things I feel frustrated. Because most of the time the people that use the diversity card are not doing it for equality, they know that it's an opportunity to cash out on their horrid lack of talent. They take the money by bringing shame to their respective communities. If only they were decent enough to shut the F up about it.
@Boötes void As a black man, I'm certain that's the idea. Because by representing us, we're seen as non-threatening to the status-quo. A status quo that from what I'm seeing is illusion kept up by a consistent stream of lies.
I'm Irish.. and watching all this from afar with some interest. My take... you're all being set up. 🤷♀️ Look at all the people of colour (mostly women) in any position. Whether it's their own show or in politics..they're all clowns. Supreme Court justices, Harvard law professors, mayors, senators.. you name it. Clowns.. and very incompetent clowns...meanwhile your country is falling apart and the blame is going to land where ? Senators twerking on the beach and press secretaries eye rolling at legitimate questions. Lightfoot is an enigma on her own. None of them have the balls to say what a woman is because they're so bought. Lily Singh is just in the lowest rung because she had the lowest sell out price tag. Then it'll be " see ? There's the proof you all can't pull it off" Those people are being selected to represent you. You think they're the best ? Or are they being picked because they're going to be the ideal scapegoat. Anyway...thats my humble outsiders take on it. I've no dog in the fight so it won't matter to me anyway.
Being oppressed isn’t a pitch for a late night show either. Her show is simply unbearable. Remember when she called out her writers to take a bow and highlighted their “diversity” instead of their comedic talents? That’s where we’re at here
I never understood why anyone ever found her funny. And she's painfully unfunny in her own late night show. On top of that she tries to pretend that women like Oprah, Tyra Banks, Queen Latifah and others don't exist so that she can pretend to be the first woman of color with her own show.
That is day time television but she could give a shout-out to oprah who started at radio and built herself up similarly to this generation's youtube stars that become influencers
I think people perceiving her as “funny” stemmed from a bygone era of UA-cam. I remember 13/14 year old me back in 2013/14 finding her videos amusing. Of course now I’m a sophomore in college and I find it physically hard to sit through her “skits” so the aging audience probably has something to do with it
yeah when I was in middle school I enjoyed her stuff but now that I got older I realized just how sad she is, also someone needs to tell her that being bisexual and a minority isn't a personality trait
The comparison of Lilly’s uncomfortable “comedy” to a good example of comedy, Conan’s, was a great way to demonstrate *why* Lilly is doing so terribly.
Take Care okay humor is subjective but some people just aren’t funny. You can label anything as a joke, but just because humor is subjective doesn’t mean I have to say it’s funny. Saying “hEhE mE ME HaVe melaNiN AnD a ShoW iSnT tHaT cRaZy” isn’t fucking funny and that’s all lily has been doing recently.
Take Care Her late night show, that’s OBJECTIVELY UNFUNNY. No one on God’s green earth finds the victim bullshit she spews funny. And no ones trying rUiN hEr career. To be very honest if she continues to pull shit like this she won’t have one for very long. Her fan base is going to grow up and she’s proves that she has no intention to evolve her content.
Her show just seems like: "I'm a brown woman with a show and white people are bad" and she acts like she's the first and only woman of color to ever be seen on TV or to have a show basically ignoring all other women and men of color who blazed a path for many more to follow, including herself. While also creating racism that isn't there, being oddly aggressive towards anyone watching, as if assuming everyone is racist and thinks it's CRAZY she's on TV. It's great to have people of color on TV and diversity and it's okay to make jokes about a race but when your whole show is "I'm a brown woman, crazy right!? Also white people are bad" it's just not good. She's not funny anyway
Couldn't have said it better, she acts like Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks and other coloured females don't exist and have their own shows that truly genuinely empower people of colour and women
The thing that bothers me the most about her "comedy" is that she reacts to her own jokes like an absolute melon. I don't discredit her work ethic, she clearly puts in a very large amount of effort into her career and I respect her for that. She's doing something that 99% of us could never do, she just does it poorly, lol.
You know, lily Singh, anytime someone calls attention to the breaking of gender roles, it ultimately undermines the concept of gender equality by implying that this is an exception, and not the status quo. What? just because I'm a meathead, doesn't mean I'm not a feminist.
And then she's gonna be like "you only don't like it because you're a bigoted cis white straight male who hates seeing a successful woman of color, plus I'm richer than you and you're jealous because I'm better than you so ha >:)"
@@hsthast7183 Don't let Lily make you feel like that. I just count her as Canadian. Canada's second biggest export is people that are an embarrassment, yet still somehow famous. Comes right after maple syrup.
maichiki yiist - I’m a bit older, and I remember when some of the best comics, hands down, were becoming famous in the US in the 80’s/90’s. John Candy, Caroline Rhea, Phil Hartman, Dan Akroyd, Martin Short, Norm McDonald, Eugene Levy..... I know I’m old, you’ll be old some day too if all goes well.
星 별Bellamy Her persona kinda became too much for a lot of people. Then she got really famous and all but left UA-cam to walk red carpets while looking like an awkward asparagus.
This show is apparently so bad that it brought both sides of the political spectrum together to hate on it in equal measure. That's actually kinda inpressive.
GeminiCat The Insomniac it's almost like she's completely disregarding oprah's career, which was a million times more influential and successful than hers 🙄
@@holly4470 exactly, It feels like she thinks she's doing it first. If she was that invested with "woman of color" she would acknowledge Oprah being one of the top ones.
I thought of her as more than her ethic background for a second once on accident. Thankfully she reminded me that she's a woman of color, and I could go back to considering her only a poor victim of society again.
On some real shit, I walked into a mens bathroom while 8 months pregnant and the only thing they did was laugh hysterically upon seeing a very pregnant woman accidentally walk into the mens bathroom.
It always makes me laugh seeing rich people complain about societal issues when in relation to money. It's like seeing a murderer complain about violent crime rates, it's amazing.
It’s also creepy seeing as how up till at least 27 she was still a virgin...soooo...maybe that’s why it’s even worse, lol hell she may still be a virgin. I’m not hating on saving yourself but try to do some jokes within your reach of understanding ya feel me? Lol I dunno jus my opinion 🤷♀️🤦♀️

Moa Beommie I think you’re too hard on yourself. Comedy develops and changes, and especially how we interpret it at such a young age. I think her high energy, playful rants and skits were good for the time. It makes sense that we enjoyed them
Have you noticed the more popular these people get the more "goofy" they act? I say goofy, I mean borderline insane. They start acting like they need to be institutionalised. It's fucken bizarre. They call it "being real" or "being relatable". But I genuinely don't know people who act as manic as youtubers. What I DO see is my 13 year old daughter and 6 year old son emulating that behaviour. And that's why my kids are banned from watching so many of these fools.
Why is she acting like she's god's gift to brown people? Does she forget that Oprah, the queen of talk television and is now a multi billionaire, was born in rural Mississippi a poor black girl who became a teen mom at 14?
As much as I hate everything that this woman is standing for I just have to say this is one of the most pathetic video comebacks I've ever seen. What on earth is this dude talking about? He's humor and editing is also extremely corny and quite sad to be honest.
FriendlyCrooc j aubrey and corny jokes go hand and hand in his work, and some people are down for that. I’m not necessarily sure what your problem is besides that in this video, nothing atrocious or appalling is rather evident to me. If you’d be so kind to delve into your negatively I’m sure i would understand where you’re coming from.
Conan can also be very self deprecating, Lilly seems to have this attitude that she is the new wave of comedy and she’s amazing because of her accomplishments and paving the way. Just because you are in this position and you deliver your “jokes” confidently or are on the right side of politics; doesn’t make people want to laugh. Stating the obvious isn’t funny.
I used to like her back when she lived with her parents but after she became the 'yo yo we gotta be bawse all the time everyone' Lilly she stopped being relatable and became hypocritical...
I used to watch her stuff with my mom and we loved her. Can't do that any more since she thought it was a good idea to trash my father/my mother's husband by blaming white men for everything. It's like they forget mixed race poc exist.
Monsieur Pickles I mean, her humor isn’t good and it’s not good to blame white men for everything, but it’s silly to consider that a personal attack on your father.
I hate that every time she actually does tell a funny joke, she either makes a weird-ass face that completely distracts me from what she said, or she acts super smug, like I should feel blessed that she decided to share such _brilliant_ comedy with lowly little me
*Yes!* That is *exactly* what bugs me about her. I haven't seen a lot of her show, but what I have was barely less funny, content-wise, than what little other non-Craig Ferguson late night I've seen. It's all very middle of the road and dull, to me. And I'd be willing to put a lot of stuff down to her being new at it and give her another shot later. But that delivery. Those faces and, worse, those *dances* like game-winning endzone celebrations but over at best mildly funny jokes. Ugh. It just makes her so unlikable and saps all the (limited) humor out.
Watch Swell Entertainment's video on it. She was an audience member for a couple episodes, and there are a few people there to just earn some cash. It gives good insight to all of this, in my opinion

Anyone watch Patriot act? Hasan is the first Indian talk show host, not Lilly, and he managed to very elegantly integrate cultural themes into his show without being obnoxious about it.
Hasan is great. I am from Finland where they do not even show the talkshow but his show is so funny and his humor is intelligent. He doesn't go out of his way to be a dick, which a lot of starting comedians often mistakenly overdo, he just makes very relaxed humor.
I don't find hasan funny some of his old stand ups are straight up obnoxious and he aso pulls out his 'I am an Indian' card like every time and his comedy is just too much around politics
I'm so sick of rich women co-opting the movement towards equality and exploiting it. They should be using their money and status to shine light on real issues for real people. Not just to be relatable or seen as some sort of feminist icon.
I would support it if I could tell she was trying to do something worthy of support, but struggling with it. This is just bad, narcissistic comedy, done double bad.
Her “Im a woman of colour” schtick worked in 2010-2014 when there weren’t many brown female creators and it made us feel seen but now it’s boring cringey and just plain bad
Lol, that’s her only thing. IM A BISEXUAL WOMAN OF COLOR LOL BISEXUAL WOMAN OF COLOR Could you imagine if you based your entire being and personality on the color of your skin and who you choose to fuck?
Amber is also a woman of colour and has a show that she is still figuring out. She does not go i am a woman, i am black in every other sentence. Because Amber is a real comedian. She wants to express her art, in this case comedy, in her own style and doesn't depend on "first woman..", "first poc..." to define herself.
I prefer comedians like Carol Burnett, who despite being the only woman with a variety show at the time, never made any mention of it. She let her work speak for itself.
Her “humor” is VERY 2013 tumblr teenagers learning social issues for the first time. Like...this is conversations that were old five years ago. She has not a single “progressive” thought or joke. The oppressed have a lot to say and can be very funny and political. I don’t care about POC or making jokes at the expense of white supremacy, in fact I find it important for these people to have their voices and thoughts heard. But good GOD Lilly is unfunny as hell. I’m not even offended as a white person, but my tastes are offended 💀
Oh man you’re right on the nose with the tumblr comment, I didn’t even think about that! That’s exactly what it’s like! I was on there at the time and remember even making jokes and statements like this myself thinking I was so woke and saying some huge things, but it really does just come off as antagonistic and self righteous.
Actually, she used to be funny like 7 years ago. Her earlier videos are actually more genuine and interesting tbh. But now it's becoming more like a fake show...
i kinda find all of this offensive. she’s literally being racist, and for what? is trevor noah nonexistent? did oprah not create an entire television channel? so annoying
It's not just that her humour is bad, but her constant assertion that she's the one paving the way for woman and POC is just insulting. Sure there are racist people that still exist and representation is good, but the sheer arrogance that must take is mindblowing.
I remember her older stuff actually being really funny. then over the years, as her content started to change, I stopped keeping up with it. It sucks to see because I was rooting for her so much, but she can barely get a chuckle out of me now.
I totally agree with your point that she deserves applause for what she did but now what she's currently doing. The problem I had with Lilly, as a fellow brown girl, was the fact that she only seemed to embrace her culture when it was convenient, at least in her videos. I had lots of friends, Indian and not, who enjoyed Lilly's content, but, from my perspective, it always seemed like she was trying to have her cake and eat it too. Her relatable jokes about brown parents were funny when I was 12, but I didn't feel the same way when I re watched some of her videos only two years later. And I feel like she talks so much about how stereotypes are bad, but all of her videos relied on nothing but that exact thing. Yes, haha it's funny that all brown moms yell at you over nothing, I guess, and I won't lie and say I didn't enjoy those things when I was a kid. But it hit me hard as I grew up when I realized how honestly people believed those stereotypes, particularly outside of Indian communities. I feel like if she wants so desperately to be a representative of brown culture then she should at least have recognized the effect this might have on non-brown kids who grew up with her content. Her videos felt whitewashed in a way, appealing to brown people enough to get them to support her but not so much that white people couldn't understand the jokes. And, in doing so, she somehow ruined any charm her content might have had. Her "jokes" were too oversimplified to make the viewers laugh on anything other than a surface level, and, simultaneously, people who aren't Indian watched her jokes and left with some not great stereotypes because her videos lacked any nuance whatsoever. There are ways to tell jokes about groups without simplifying them to the same few characteristics; hell, half the time nuanced jokes are a lot funnier. But I feel like she never cared to learn that. It's a little annoying that, for those few brief years in the early 2010s, the only youtuber I was supposed to like was Lilly because she was supposed to be relatable to me, and that, if I didn't like Lilly, it was weird because she looked like me. I'm not trying to bash people who liked her, as I'm sure she meant a lot to people who grew up with her. But I have a problem with people saying that she should be liked because she's moving us in the right direction. People like Lilly make it difficult for us to have real conversations about the role of race in entertainment because she represents the bare minimum. Her whole platform was based on the fact she's a minority, and that's not what we need in my opinion. Representation is important, but it needs to have a basis in merit and talent. Phenomena like Lilly are meant to quiet down the criticisms of a lack of diversity instead of actually meeting and responding to them. Hopefully we'll have less of this in the future.
I agree wholeheartedly. The other examples that were mentioned by Aubrey also rely on the same kind of comedy. Lele Pons keeps pushing the fact that she's a Latina, and even went to the point of adopting an accent after amassing popularity. I felt the same thing you did. As a child, sure, talking about how strict your Indian mom is was funny. After a while, it just seems that the stereotypes are overplayed and exaggerated and presented in a digestible manner for foreign audiences who'll accept that stereotype to be a certainty since it's coming from the person coming from the community. Long story short: Lilly kinda helped in perpetuating those stereotypes she claimed to want to resolve while alienating both: the people she wanted to appeal to, as well as the ones she didn't want to.
First off, good job. Took me a while to read but this makes a lot of sense XD. Tbh, back in the day, when she rose to fame, making videos about your culture was trending. That was also the time when FouseyTube rose to fame for making "muslims families do this" kinda videos on vine (initially and later on UA-cam). It was quite natural for people to follow that trend and finding it relatable. In those days, our views were also quite different about things compared to what it is now so now we might have a different pov about her videos but back in the day we enjoyed her videos too, because it was quite relatable! But I agree with the fact that she went way too ahead with those kinda videos. To me it almost looked like she only showed the negatives in our culture in a funny way but by the end of it she'd be like "oh but I love my culture.." I know she speaks and displays problems that still persist in the Indian society but there are limits for everything. You can't make a joke of of ANYTHING right? And also you can't be dragging the same concept around for years. Also about the minority point you had said earlier, constantly mentioning the fact that she's a woman of colour or she's bisexual etc does not make sense to me. You said it once, we get it! She's the only one considering herself as a minority all the time and in this way she'd even flip out on people who leave constructive criticism under her videos and say that the haters are coming for her. Idk what has happened to her, I love her a lot but I feel like she's trying waaaay too hard to keep herself in the limelight. Old lilly used to care about *quality* of the content but her recent videos and her late night show just makes me feel like she has changed and is only bothered about *quantity* which is very very sad. She really needs to take a break and rethink everything cuz her fame will fade out very soon!
Broom riding sandwich makers like this (who have revolted against their true purpose) don't fight racism (by providing a solution): they *perpetuate racism* . I mean, why would she want to apply a solution to *the only thing* that validates, upholds and justifies her existence? She finds her relevance in being a self-perceived victim. She found herself employed by employing such tactics. She (and the people that she socially engineers/manufactures) is the problem with modern society. She's the resistance upon the straggling string that's pulling it apart at the seams. The sandwich comment was a joke...or was it????

While also creating racism that isn't there, being oddly aggressive towards anyone watching, as if assuming everyone is racist and thinks it's CRAZY she's on TV. I would watch the show, but I'm afraid the whole time I'd be getting flashbacks to all the horrible things the FFVII House leader did with the fanbase on Tumblr.
Nightmarish.
I'll believe you that it's much more worth airing than Lily, though.
She's shit, but Hannibal wasn't that great either. It was way to dark without any direction. With the same repetitive element
Favourite show ✊🏻, it being cancelled was a CRIME
She's not even fighting racism, she clearly doesn't want it gone as its the basis of all of her material
Honestly, this. 👏👏
"Material"
LITERALLY
Joe Connor she’s not fighting racism at all, she’s a HUGE racist herself. All she talks about is race, all she sees is race, literally the definition of a racist.
Ps I’m brown
i mean thats like saying mlk didnt want racism gone because thats what most of his speechs were about
R.I.P old Lilly...when she didn't remind us that she is a bi woman of color every couple seconds
Yeah 2014 was when I enjoyed her the most .
Yess. I admired old Lilly sooo much and it's sad to see that she has changed a lot
underrated comment
@@cryptoevonow as an "old lilly" stans I can say that this never happened. Fousey had a crush on her but it wasn't the same for her. She does have a weakness for built people tho.
@@cryptoevonow you do know what bi means right?
The editing and commentary is hilarious! You killed me with this 🤣
Her hostility towards white people is hilarious considering one of her first viral videos was about how she preferred dating white men.
Serious? That usually gets a lot of the Indian community upset
NTL 99 oam
Well people do change over time it's quite possible she preferred white men at one point and over time found that preference to be lost.
Isn't her dad white??
@@megan5923 No.
She is the personification of a woke corporation responding smugly to people on twitter
At least those were funny when they began...she wasn't or is at all
Fake woke
Great comment
I'm all for white jokes, but hers come off as genuinely aggressive and mean spirited. as a talk show host you are supposed to make everyone comfortable and have them want to watch your show. Insulting people and feeding your ego isnt a great way to go
Imagine the little white girls that are her fans and genuinely look up to her. How sad
Said the white girl!!!
Oh that's right, so am I!
Very well put
Elon Musk thanks elon
I'm mixed and I think that the jokes are a bit... much. They legit make me feel kinda uncomfortable. :/
Imagine how the live audience felt after laughing at such dry jokes everytime, they weren’t even trying
Ahh, I love rich people pretending to be oppressed. It’s a beautiful thing.
Joeru I love it when they give tv shows to racists
G-ah yeah I hate lilly too
True, they're so enlightened. First world problems...
It's sounds more sad actually.
Yes bc money is the most important thing. Once you have it, you’re not a real person anymore...right??
being a bisexual brown woman isn’t a personality trait
Honami I feel like people who use their sexuality or race as a personality trait are some of the most shallow of all. I’m bi, but I don’t tell everyone about that because I don’t think it really matters.
Completely agree. They've become her defining traits, she's frankly bland and is a stain on the communities she claims to represent.
When has she ever had a relationship with another woman. Lily knows drunkenly kissing one of her home girls one time in college like 9 years ago doesn't make you bisexual right?
@@Shishomuru I'm not a fan of her either but ah I'm sorry but we're not in any place to tell her or anyone what makes someone bi and what doesn't.
@@nightlybutt242 considering I've never seen anyone cover who she dates, woman especially, to be honest her being bisexual seems like a baseless claim she uses simply to pander and appear more woke.
Outside of that I honestly couldn't care less who she screws, it's just that she brings it up ever 8 seconds without anything actually supporting the claim so....
Cringe is when she screams at the end of any sentence and makes a weird face mostly with her tongue out or mouth wide open and head tilted.
Ik...She can do better...

im almost into it at this point, like watching a car crash. how long can they keep that mess of a show on the air??!
i mean is TV they are still bitter that youtubers make them hard in the late 2010... So they put someone too show that they can be beat.

The difference is Hassan is actually funny.
I don't find hasan funny some of his old stand ups are straight up obnoxious and he aso pulls out his 'I am an Indian' card like every time and his comedy is just too much around politics
Rutva Brahmbhatt well his show is about politics
Isn’t he the guy that said America deserved 9/11
Honestly, I never understood the hype around her and now almost everyone agrees it's just hype no substance ❤️
I'm so sick of rich women co-opting the movement towards equality and exploiting it. They should be using their money and status to shine light on real issues for real people. Not just to be relatable or seen as some sort of feminist icon.
But pretending to be a relatable feminist icon is soooooo much easier and more profitable than actually being a relatable feminist icon.
She acts like oprah and ellen dont exist
First female 'Late Night' host
exactly, like the fuck?? she tryna act unique or whatever
She talked about being the only female NIGHT TALK SHOW.
420th like nice
@@ananna6193 She's still not. Joan Rivers and Samantha Bee would like to chat

Callaghan Mayo no, I’m pretty sure he meant what he said.
I would support it if I could tell she was trying to do something worthy of support, but struggling with it. This is just bad, narcissistic comedy, done double bad.
An impossible task to be sure.
I mean, chances are they don’t really have any experience and she just hired them based on how they look
Best intro to a UA-cam video ever. I always come back and re-watch it.
Her “Im a woman of colour” schtick worked in 2010-2014 when there weren’t many brown female creators and it made us feel seen but now it’s boring cringey and just plain bad

Lol, that’s her only thing. IM A BISEXUAL WOMAN OF COLOR LOL BISEXUAL WOMAN OF COLOR
Could you imagine if you based your entire being and personality on the color of your skin and who you choose to fuck?
She's bi?
Janessa Pendleton brown is being indian
So pompous and obnoxious, I’m not even white and her “jokes” are just too basic and seem like discussed attacks.
Same, I'm a whole black and its big irritating tbh
Distns it really is it’s really a crutch for her.
Amber is also a woman of colour and has a show that she is still figuring out. She does not go i am a woman, i am black in every other sentence. Because Amber is a real comedian. She wants to express her art, in this case comedy, in her own style and doesn't depend on "first woman..", "first poc..." to define herself.
thats what a good comedian does. even if they use race jokes, they can be clever with them.
I prefer comedians like Carol Burnett, who despite being the only woman with a variety show at the time, never made any mention of it. She let her work speak for itself.
Joan Rivers as well! But George Carlin was the absolute best, hands down. Lol
Preach. She and Joan Rivers are both amazing.
M Amaya good point. She focused on being funny
@leeuwin1962 oh, an ignorant one
YES I loved her at my tumblr fase, but now... she seems completely lost in time and has not evolved
Actually, she used to be funny like 7 years ago. Her earlier videos are actually more genuine and interesting tbh. But now it's becoming more like a fake show...
Too long can't read
i kinda find all of this offensive. she’s literally being racist, and for what? is trevor noah nonexistent? did oprah not create an entire television channel? so annoying
Monique has her own talk show as well, plus she was actually funny.
Fainora what, now white people can’t be annoyed by blatant hypocrisy?
She isnt black.........she's Indian. You idiots

Being Indian and acting black isn’t a personality trait
Lucas Dunbar THIS!!!
From yo ankle to yo crotch.
How do you "act black" ???
She's not from India.
Lucas Dunbar she’s from Canada
It's not just that her humour is bad, but her constant assertion that she's the one paving the way for woman and POC is just insulting. Sure there are racist people that still exist and representation is good, but the sheer arrogance that must take is mindblowing.
It's like she forgot that Oprah had a talk show at one point.
jackie Aina it's one of those as every other "big" poc women on social media
Her humour is bad
I used to be her biggest fan. Now I can't stand her. She radiates a sort of toxicity.
that cupcake in the profile pic gave me nostalgia about that gamee
Hopefully we'll have less of this in the future.
eGADS how long did that take you to write
Good job
holy fuck, thank you. seeing a response like this helped stop my lizard brain from getting all reactionarily racist.
Too long can't read
I kind of liked her when she was just starting out, but I had to eventually unsubscribe from her because of jokes like these.
VERY early on....2010/2011 - I enjoyed her. But the skits were never my thing. I just liked the complaining tbh lol
She used to make kids comedy, now she makes cringe compilations.
This. This comment is totally underrated. Up you go my dear friend...
Nerthus kids comedy can be funny for adults. But that type of balance is super difficult to achieve.
Nerthus yep
I used to watch before she decided to fit the agenda
