People who are handed their wealth and position have no sense of how much they embarrass themselves when they take a title they haven't earned. Someone whose father I used to work for, recently started calling herself co-founder of her family business... which her grandfather started decades before she was born. 🙄 She treated her work in the company as a lifestyle - most of which she charged to the company - and had zero work ethic, especially compared to her father. If she had been founder, it wouldn't have got off the ground, let alone lasted two generations.
That's your takeaway? He wasn't born rich. His dad was rich, and he came to America by himself with just over a thousand dollars. In fact, you should go watch a pro Elon video right now, and see all the amazing things he's accomplished before forming your obviously bias and preconceived opinion.

Is this view based on this video ? If so, I'm not a fan of Elon, or a hater, yet personally I was a bit disappointed in this video, which I was looking forward to from the title. I think this video holds little to no credence, it whizzes through far too quickly without providing enough reliable info or context to a claim or the info that is provided, and offers no alternative viewpoint or counter to the claims being made. When making a documentary, which this video essentially is, I believe you have to reach out to either the person you are making the claims about, to comment, or the next best thing you can get hold of. Even at the very least, considering this is a UA-cam video, I believe you should reach out to Musk fan forums for example, inform them in detail of all your claims, and show them your sources, and asked them to provide a member to combat these claims in an interview. If you're being honest and genuinely trying to find the truth of the matter that is the sort of thing you should be doing. Yet this video, to me just comes across more as a spoon feeding for certain people who want to hear certain things about Elon Musk.
As an astrophysics student, I hate how prevalent he is whenever I am having conversations about the future of space exploration. He always has to come up and it's always by someone who just has to talk about how great he is and how smart he is for making Space X as if he alone is responsible for all the feats made by the company, not just the name on the business. Beyond sick of hearing about him.
get used to it buttercup, Elon will be a huge part of future space exploration because of SpaceX, were you this pissed off when people solely credited steve jobs iPhone/iPod? at least Elon is actually make a change.
Imagine if you were an animator. You wanted to talk with someone about the animation techniques used in old Disney films. However, the only responses you ever got were talking about how great Walt Disney was, how he was a visionary, how he was a brilliant businessman. Sure he may have achieved much, but I would also like to talk about other things besides him. Also to your point of "were you this mad at Steve Jobs?" No, because I didn't run in those circles and didn't have to hear about him day in and day out, which is exactly my issue. Like I stated before, I have this issue because he works in the same field (roughly) as me yet the man himself is all some people want to talk about and it's getting old. It would also be less annoying if his fans didn't jump blindly at the opportunity to defend him, using the same old arguments time and time again, instead of actually reading what I have written and stopping to think about it for more than 0.2 seconds before writing a knee-jerk reply calling me a hater for having some minor criticisms about the culture surrounding this man.

I don't know how he still has a cult like following despite his circus acts
I'm a Forestry Engineer and can tell you that his vehicules make more damage to the environment than combustion engines do. That's because the process of getting lithium requiers deep mining. And mining does irreversible damage, it destroys the soil and makes it unsuable for at least hundreds of years if not thousands, depending on the damage. with combustion engines we can atleast plant more trees in order to capture greenhouse gases, but with only teslas there would be no soil to plant trees on. I think first we have to implented better and sustainable ways to get lithium and for the time being make more hybrid cars

My favorite Elon moment was when he did a presentation about Tesla robots, but he didn't have a prototype or any other visuals to show what it was going to look like, so he just dressed up a guy in spandex and then made him dance on stage. There is a lot less complexity required for the AI of a robotic dog compared to a humanoid robot. I think the robot dog is more akin to a robotic vacuum cleaner or those factory robots at amazon, they are designed for specific purposes in contrast to the tesla bot that needs to be flexible enough for retail.
More like when that one insane person runs the show and when you tell them to chill out they just immediately fire you for "retaliation". Even if you buy the tiles now like 5 years later, they'll tell you they're still a beta product and not the production model. Also do you remember the roadster 2020? I remember seeing tons of youtubers putting their affiliate code out just to get one, and like 5 years later the company hasn't even acknowledged it since even though thousands of people were supposed to get a free one as Tesla wrote in their own affiliate system. We all start that way, there is no shame in that. It's when we see obvious signs of narcissism and megalomania and still swallow the koolaid that the problems begin.
Trufax: The Artist Known to Most People as Grimes, Elon's one-time baby mama, was a good friend of mine back in Uni. Back then she used to eat out of dumpsters and dollar stores, lived in a cheap-ass slum apartment full of crackheads, so she could host illegal shows and no one would complain about the noise. We were a bunch of 20-year-old gutter punks drawing zines, exchanging playlists on CD-R, raging against the machine. Years later, I saw that pic of her with this narcissistic liar (i.e. E) at the Met Gala and I thought oh, honey, if yourself at 20 could see yourself now, you'd never stop throwing up. I pray for poor Alpha X2 every day, that kid is going to need a lot of therapy. This video does a great job of highlighting the hard facts about E.'s lies and legal violations in business. But you could also consider more personal things that he doesn't hide, like his megalomaniacal penchant for having a fuckton of babies by many women - a trait you see primarily in cult leaders, who also tend to exhibit dangerous levels of reality-denying narcissistic tendencies.
I heard that Grimes actually comes from wealthy family and that she owned the apartment where she hosted parties. She just 'role-played' that kind of life.

Elon Musk is pretty much like the evil counterpart of Tony Stark. He's maybe considered himself as a _"genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist"_ kind of guy, but the difference is that there's proof that Tony Stark has a heart.
People would always justify his failings as "Well he's a genius! Surely this is just a minor setback, we're just too dumb to see the bigger picture like HE can". It took years and years to finally realize that no, he was just burning money solely because he could afford to.

@@steamedhamlet Ah yes, what he should have done instead is launch a giant block of concrete! oh, did you not know that? did you perhaps not know anything at all about the space industry? are you a good little NPC? The tesla in space was a payload for the first flight of Falcon Heavy, and the first flight of essentially every rocket in history doesn't get a real payload because of the uncertainty of success. And no sweetie, you can't just launch an empty rocket, because that doesn't weigh the same as a rocket with a full payload, OBVIOUSLY. Every other test rocket launch in history with a mass simulator (that's what dummy payloads are called) has literally just used a cube of concrete. He seems to be using the same tactics but he has enough money to actually pay workers that know what they are doing. It's too bad that he takes his workers for granted and thinks he can treat them how ever he wants.
The difference is that holmes was “””self-made””” (born very wealthy grew to be obscenely wealthy) whereas Elon already had all the money he ever needed from daddy’s apartheid emeralds. He was obscenely wealthy day 1 and thus will face zero repercussions for anything where holmes had a rug that could be pulled out from under her.

The only thing Elon has made was some terribly written code that had to be thrown out the second a real developer sat down and looked at it.
Eh, I don't know I'd even give him that. Edison's whole thing was hiring less wealthy yet inventive people to solve problems that needed solving with the premise from him being that he will give them all the funding they need, but the rights go under his name. Elon has a history of directly misleading people, treating people as a whole like dirt, a complete disregard for the nature preserve his rocket launch facility was built on even building beyond the limits he was originally given and going beyond his contract for the rockets to launch there, and retroactively claiming anything he is connected to only exists because of him wiping anyone else from record retroactively.

I used to really appreciate Elon Musk, thinking that he was going to help humanity in a big way by pioneering space travel through SpaceX, by popularizing electric cars through Tesla, and by promoting renewable energy through SolarCity. Then I read about how he acquired Tesla through a hostile takeover, and kicking out the original founders and claiming that he was the original founder. Then I heard about how anti union he was, and how SpaceX employee wages were far worse than other big aerospace companies like Boeing or Lockheed Martin. Hmm... That's not very good for humanity if you're making the humans who work for you literally have worse lives then they otherwise could. I started hearing about the stupid nonsense he constantly spouts on twitter, about how he's allying himself with far-right groups to keep his money and influence, whilst being the richest and most influential person in the world right now. It seems more and more that he's a petulant, spoiled child who does whatever he can to get his way. Then all the drama with Twitter. The way he's just ruining people's lives by firing people left, right, and centre for the most nonsensical of reasons. Telling his workers to "work long hours, and work hard, or leave." It seems like Elon isn't the genius he thought he was. It really makes sense that he has autism, because he literally doesn't seem to understand that other people have feelings different to his own. He acts like everyone is just his plaything. Which is true, because he's never been held accountable for any of the bad things he's done, and just keeps getting richer and more powerful despite acting like a complete tool all the time. I doubt that Elon has ever worked a single day in his life as hard as he's asking his twitter employees to work. He's literally making the world a worse place to live. And for what? So he can have enough money to ruin one of the biggest social media companies as his pet project? There are no good billionaires. Because to be a billionaire, you need to extract capital from the work that others do on a massive scale. Just like his father before him, paying slavery-level wages to a bunch of poor Zambian miners and selling the fruits of _their_ labor for massive profit, Elon is doing the same with his companies today.
SpaceX, uses NASA reasearch and is funded by government grants and subsidies, and ex JPL and NASA employees, once again, Elon Musk didn't design shit, and all of his companies are paid for by the US Government with our tax money, while Elon complains about paying taxes as a billionare is unfair.
I was agreeing with you up until the autism thing. Being a cold, uncaring person has nothing to do with autism. Some autistic people like myself have low empathy, but that doesn't mean we don't have sympathy and care about other people deeply. Other autistic people have hyper-empathy. Elon being a terrible person has nothing to do with autism so citing all the terrible things he's done and then saying it "makes sense" that he's autistic is really hurtful, so I hope that was just clumsy wording and not that you and 66 other people really see us that way

A big part of it was the Iron Man movie. It really propelled him to cult status.

My favorite Elon moment was when he did a presentation about Tesla robots, but he didn't have a prototype or any other visuals to show what it was going to look like, so he just dressed up a guy in spandex and then made him dance on stage.
Investors proceeded to give him more funding, because the world is unjust.
It paid off
@@yippy7951 it did not. The robot they showed could not stand up under its own power and was less impressive then stuff Boston Dynamics was doing nearly a decade ago.
@@kevinstephenson3531 Boston Dynamics is not comparable to Tesla's robot, the robots in the videos where they dance and do backflips are are executing pre programed instructions and do not utilize AI nor machine vision.
Regardless it still paid off monetarily for Tesla.

@@kevinstephenson3531 I was only talking about the humanoid robots. I assume you're referring to the autonomous surveillance dog robot, which I don't think is really comparable.
There is a lot less complexity required for the AI of a robotic dog compared to a humanoid robot.
Also the purposes are different, the tesla bot is aiming to be general purpose, doing a variety of different tasks which require advanced AI with machine learning, whereas the robot dog is designed for only one task.
I think the robot dog is more akin to a robotic vacuum cleaner or those factory robots at amazon, they are designed for specific purposes in contrast to the tesla bot that needs to be flexible enough for retail.

The illusion of success, some say is more important than success itself. He pulled some Elizabeth Holmes shit early on and really faked his way to the top. But the image is unraveling, much like Holmes did. I also find it laughable that he accused the journalists who criticized him for being "rich Berkeley kids" when his dad effectively bought his career. He had an incredibly priviledged upbringing and he's an example of people who are the products of generational wealth projecting themselves as solely self-made.

Except Edison actually was an inventor and did actually invent the modern lightbulb and other really important inventions. The fact that Elizabeth Holmes is serving time while Elon Musk is free to run rampant in the world is beyond me
Well, it's simple. Holmes did some criminally reprehensible things. She falsified documents.
Musk did not. Holmes created a company that was a total fraud (I'm talking from a legal standpoint). Telsa and Space X are functional companies. I personally believe that Telsa is greatly overvalued. The fact remains that this company produces cars
Musk is a bullshitter but he delivers. That's why so many people have forgiven him these lies. Holmes has never delivered anything.
Buying Twitter is his worst bullshit. I wonder if he will fall because of this or not.
He will follow soon, he did the only crime that matters, fucked over lenders (other rich people) with Twitter.
Elon made enough people money. He pulled off the EV. That’s why. His product worked. And. He owns the only company capable of delivering us astronauts to the space station. Oh, and the Ukrainian war effort requires his starlink network. He is too powerful for the government to take him down now. He las massive leverage. He stacked the deck. You’re an idiot for betting against him. The dude controls space. He already won. Cult Elon makes money.
Is she already in jail?
To put it into perspective, Elon grew up as an ultra rich and privileged kid in a country where he was part of a group of people who were already quite privileged
I don't think you know what "putting things into perspective" means
@@haizee2330 I mean, I think it does. Privilege does lower your empathy. You literally do not share the same experiences and anxieties as the majority of people you'll interact with.
It's the same reason that silicon valley startups are famously known to be the number one problem solvers of problems experienced by Silicon Valley startups . . . and almost nobody else.
His dad was an engineer and owned part of a small emerald mine. Thats rich, not ultra rich.
To put things into perspective, so was Joe Biden! But you morons don't know the difference do you?!?
You morons crack me up. You see things yet pretend to be blind. Let's wash all of the things that cancel everything else out, and pay attention to the factors that matter!
Why would anyone ever idolize some rich person? These people are not your friends, and they don't care about you, either. Billionaires aren't messiahs that are going to fix this world's problems, so I don't know why they have cults. It's all very strange to me.
People who worship them are what's commonly known as "temporarily embarrassed millionaires". They think if they suck up to these rich people long and hard enough, then some of those rich people's luck and fortune will rub off on them as well and then they'll be able to join the super special elite rich people club.
Because just like Elon did, they tell the working class “I was just like you once” and people fall in love with the idea that they could be next. We all know that’s not true but that’s why billionaires are praised as cult leaders today. Whereas 100 years ago the working class HATED the rich, rightfully so
Its the image they(the rich, the famous ect.) project into the world because they want to be praised and worshipped. Its sick.

He was not listed as an alumnus of the Physics department (including their 1997 congratulations to all graduates) until he made a “generous endowment” in 2009. I’m not going to comment on the Economics degree except to say it’s the same one Trump got, so it’s at least possible that some combination of bribery, fraud, and/or rewarding low-effort from students from wealthy families or with existing business ventures could be at work. Just speculation, not fact; you’ll have to look at his investment practices to deduce whether they are based on what he learned at Wharton or more basic con-man skillls. I’m no MBA.
I, for one, would love a full video on all the Tesla worker mistreatment issues
Every company with a warehouse mistreats their workers, they are just very good at hiding it and the media supports this sentiment, because they have the same owners (WaPo for example). Like Amazon not having AC on warehouses, because it's cheaper to have an ambulance parked outside in case a worker colapses due to the heat.

Elon Musk calling his father "evil" and "a terrible human being" is very ironic considering that he's WORSE

When people close to Elon say stay away from Elon, it's because he's a slave driver at work who is a bit addicted to conflict in his personal relationships. When people close to Errol say stay away from Errol, it's because he's a sadistic, narcissistic, sociopathic, abusive father who doesn't understand what's wrong with knocking up his hot young step daughter. That's my impression from the many interviews, biographies, etc that I've consumed.

He spends millions on bots and publications that tote how great he is. Even went as far as buying Twitter to control what is said about him. If you control the media, you control public perception.
I find it hard to pinpoint what the difference is between Musk's try-hard, how do you do fellow kids, uncanny valley presentation, and that of Zuckerberg.
Because there are definitely similarities, but also definitely differences in the particular way they each make my skin crawl.
Is it that Zuckerberg is more robot, while Musk is more an alien child who was accidentally dropped here in disguise and then made a wish to be an adult?
I think that's pretty close

Very well put

Couldn't agree more - had the same view years back
I'm pretty sure autistics don't claim him
I was agreeing with you up until the autism thing.
