I love the explanations and the concept of working with the artist and having a banter about what the process is. This makes it a super educational for novice to advance level mixers. Thanks Jesse!
That crazy eq curve you touch on at 22mins looks like the result of an "EQ Match". I use that kinda thing to create pre-emphasis curves for tape prints.
@@jesseraymix Hahaha, NOICE. I learned this technique from the one and only Shawn Everett! Been using a Roland RE-150 space echo. The speed of the tape has a dramatic effect on the curve. SUPER FUN.
Barely 5 minutes in and I'm already picking up new stuff lol I didn't know you could combine two tracks into one like this in Pro Tools Gotta see if there's a way to do this in Studio One also
More of mixing to the 2 tracks man this helped me out alot ! So would you send this to a masering engineer even tho the beat has already been mastered ?
Absolutely. The advantage of hiring a mastering engineer is to get one more set of ears on the record to hear it fresh and give it a final set of tweaks. They will catch clicks, pops, resonances, and anything else that we may have missed or may not have been able to hear on our rigs. It's always a good idea. Hire Gerhard Westphalen; he's the best out there (by far).
@ thank you man love the channel !! Alway tuning in !! One more thing did you turn down the beat at all ? For headroom didnt see you do it but i saw the meters of the beat sitting around negative -6
I always say mixing audio is like eating a hamburger: You bite into meat on one side, and cheese will come out on the other. You bite into the cheese, and suddenly, ketchup is everywhere :D
golden content! thank you Jesse. This is very timely because I have been writing mostly to samples. Would love to send you a mix for your feedback (5 mins of effort). I'm an artist DIY'ing :) even if not I appreciate your gems in interviews these past few years.

That's a great idea! I'll add it to the list!
Hi Jesse. How do you get your eq bells to be at 24db/Oct from the default preset without touching parameters?

LOVE that. Cause-and-effect!
What’s the imager on the master bus doing man?
just pushing some energy out wide! Nothing too crazy. Just moving the bands until it sounds good (or doesn't!)
@@jesseraymix cheers legend!
How do you do that special shape in your eq fabfilter that you use everytime i tried to look it up nobody is explaining that part
shift + alt + click the EQ band!
I seen somewhere that outside is the best acoustic space, is there a reason you're outside or that's not the intention ?!
