We bought the 2.2 Diesel with 6 seat configuration (Thailand specification). So we better specs and also far more nicer floor mats. After about 3,000 km it was a very good choice. We still use the CX-5 (2017, also Diesel) as our second car. The CX-8 is higher on the ground than the CX-5 and has a higher roofline. But you can put the driver seat lower than in the CX-5, which I very like.
The CX-8 is very comfortable. We recently could fit 6 Thai adults (all below 170 cm) on a longer trip and every body was satisfied with the seating position and the aircon. The seats are softer than in the CX-5.
The CX-8 drives very well, but not so sporty than the CX-5. You can feel the weight and the softer setup. But it drives still very good. You can still take bends quite fast.

Dont go to Mazda Bkt Dukung, Kajang. They made it compulsory to take insurance from Berjaya Sompo, which only offers conventional package. Checked with few other Mazda dealers, we actually can opt for other Insurance/Takaful provider.

Kon, do you think it's a big issue that the third row has no air cond vents?
Is it still comfortably cool without the vents at the back?

Kia Sorento/Hyundai Santa Fe has 3rd row ac (depend on variant). I use the Sorento. It is an issue when there are no ac vents at the back.

It's no problem with Mazda CX8. I also scare the same problem. But have aircond blower under the 2nd row seat. It blow to 3rd row seat area.

Not on the same segment sir.. but cx 8 would probably be more luxurious and more comfortable.. fortuner is a pick up based suv..

@ air conditioning is very important in a hot country in Malaysia. So not having them in the third row is very serious.
