Anyone else ever wonder how it is so many syllables can be used on one language while in another it's way less? Japanese: "U-ram-bu-da" 4 English: "Lamb-da." 2 Japanese "La-gu-na teh bu-do-de-du-joh" 9 English "Rag-na the blood-edge" 5
I don't want to be that guy but, actually it's just **"ran-bu-da" "ランブダ"** (the "n" is represented by ン so it could kinda be 4) and **Rag-na=The=Bloodedge is "Ra-gu-na=Za=bu-ra-ddo-e-jji" "ラグナ=ザ=ブラッドエッジ"** ("ッジ" "ッド" makes the sound of a single letter which would be "jji" and "ddo") i didn't study it for too long so i could be wrong, also i don't want to act as the **actually** guy, and sorry if i misinterpreted you
Well that just brings me to the corrosive point of many players like myself not speaking Japanese, and that makes it difficult now that they fired all the english VAs and I'm sure you know every point I'd make after that since it's a songbird's choir and I'm just a single little tweet amongst.
I don't feel like this answer is complete, so I'll try to explain (I'm not really good at explaining though so bear with me) Basically, in Japan, words with foreign origins are written in their own form of Japanese called "Katakana". Say, if they tried to write down an English word in a novel or something, they'd use Katakana to do it. The thing with Japanese is that they don't have the same alphabet we do. That means there's missing letters. So some syllables just wouldn't make sense and not every Japanese person would be able to read it. To make up for this, they basically try to use Katakana to make it sound as close to the original as possible. This is why this doesn't just happen with BlazBlue, it happens with basically almost every form of Japanese media when they have to say something that comes from another language. It's fairly common in things like anime and video games from Japanese origins to hear this.
