Part of the most amazing one-hit wonder grand slam ever. This lead vocalist (Tony Burrows) sang lead on four separate one-hit wonders: this song, Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes (Edison Lighthouse); My Baby Loves Lovin’ (White Plains); and Beach Baby (First Class). I think it’s safe to say this record will never be broken.
AMAZING How people Could - and Still CAN - Dance! The brunette lass in green was Great too - and adorable, and is, obviously, having a lot of fun - and certainly knows how to Move (which translates, along with her fun spirit and free style, into other rooms in the house, for a joyful Time for & with a partner). SIDE NOTE - and very possibly picked up on & recognized by you, and others here - An instrumental version arranged by Ronnie Aldrich was frequently used as background music during comedy sketches in “The Benny Hill Show”(appropriately and fitting, in light of the observation & comment above regarding the cute, happy, fun-loving, dancing lass).
WHO is the original band? WHO are the girls in uniform? WHAT is the back story of this wonderful overdub? WHO is the girl in green? I've been wondering for YEARS!
I remember this video in higher quality. The scene with the girl in the green shirt began with her putting the pickup on the record. I searched for a long time, but alas.
I was in the 6th grade, it was 69 or 70 Summertime, had a secret crush on Nancy it's still a secret, plan on telling her someday, I liked her so much she scared me, silly I wore this record out, when my dad heard it he called it swingtime in the 20's or something like that, the big dance was the Charleston, and that thing people do trying to make their knees cross, ala Chevy Chase
Summertime 1970! I was 10 years old, went to 4-H Camp at Holliday Lake in Appomattox County, VA. Some of the Junior Leaders (who were teenagers) were nearly always playing récords in the big pavilion. This song was played many times during that week
The scene with the gut in the striped jacket and the girl in the pleated skirt is from the movie BLONDIE MEETS THE BOSS. The entire scene is from that movie. Arthur Lake and the actress who Played Blondie's younger sister are not shown. They were in the scene just not shown. It is a dance contest. Just saw the movie few weeks ago on MOVIES TV CHANNEL.
She was part of a competitive dance club, mostly Swing and Jazz in NYC. She had her own site with various vids posted, but that was way back in 2009. Her site is gone now and I think the last short post was at a picnic in 2011.
Hearing the raspy talking-voice makes me think it was inspired by DJ Wolfman Jack and the rapper-singer Tone Loc (Wild Thing) also sounds like this voice
Rap? Man, that's a stretch. Bordering on ignorance. Not sure of the first recorded Rap, but it may be Cassius Clay promoting himself to the press cameras, broadcast worldwide. -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

I didn't know that Tony Burrows sang this. Met him several years ago at a musical. Very nice person.
I'm sorry to be a wise ass, but he was a producer for First Class but he was on The Flower pot men : Let's go to S.F. So still a record ....
-You missed out "United we stand" -Brotherhood of Man- Tony Burrows again.
Wow! That is cool to know, and to think I've liked all four of these since first hearing. Thanks!

I've just discovered this and it's now saved to my UA-cam Library.
I dare you to sit still whilst listening.. X ☺
There is so much pure joy and happiness in this song and associated dancing.
I play this at full blast at 5:30am each morning
Great song. On radio when i was 10.
One of the catchiest novelty records circa 1970. I wondered what the different dances were called that appear in the excellent video.
Even after all these years of occasionally coming back to this vid, I still love how well it's been put together.
I love this tune! So glad I found it!
Still listening... ha !! July 2020
I ALWAYS LIKED THAT SONG GROWING UP IN THE 70'S, LOL
an infectious song. It was also frequently used (in an instrumental version) as part of the background music for the Benny Hill Show.
I love the dancing.. Yass girl dancing by herself is awesome
At one time she had put the whole vid up of her doing the entire song. Regrettably, she's taken it down. Pity... that was some serious hoofin'.
That Girl in the green top dancing is soooo CUTE!! I guess that she just took a break from house cleaning to dance!!
This needs to be released in HD (sound and video)!
I love this song
What a catchy song with dancers who really know how to strut their stuff,. I really envy those dancers.

To jest mój dźwięk w telefonie.
Bo zawsze wprawia mnie w dobry humor. Nawet jak dzwonią klienci czy windykatorzy.
Legends says that Tony Burrows is still waiting today to be given dat ding.
Best I can figure that dance is The Jitterbug... awesome à
Like it good work
Going to make a guess that the girl in the green top is an experienced Irish dancer. And she is channeling Ray Bolger.
She was part of a competitive dance club, mostly Swing and Jazz in NYC. She had her own site with various vids posted, but that was way back in 2009. Her site is gone now and I think the last short post was at a picnic in 2011.
Always makes me regrete I never got to learn Swing and Charleston.
Kinda reminds me of Popeye singing with Mickey Mouse. Always tickles me when I hear this.
The voice is a swipe of Arte Johnson's Tyrone F. Horneighy character from Rowan And Martin's Laugh-In.
A very old time looking video love this song the women dancing in this video is very attractive I would like to friend request her
Hearing the raspy talking-voice makes me think it was inspired by DJ Wolfman Jack and the rapper-singer Tone Loc (Wild Thing) also sounds like this voice
Coca-Cola paid for a rewrite to make the Advert “Gimme that Ring!” 😁
I love the old Doo Wop Songs.
Oo dat ding
Shopping at Tesco's 2020
Pretty sure I’ve seen a much better quality version of this video, unfortunately can’t find it now. Anyone with a link please post it.
Brenda Boyce dance thus one with Denise!
Big mistake. I'll be hearing this in my head for the next 6 months.
Sounds like Wolfman Jack!
Oh, when small girls weighed sometimes even less than 100 kg! Those where the times....
sounds like wolfman jack.
DJ Rockin' Randy sez: Are ya SURE that the Wolfman is not on this record? Asking for a friend...
The Extraordinary lady in the green shirt & black slacks should've gave the rest of those losers dance lessons!!!
Obvious 20s Vaudeville/UK Music Hall influence Paul McCartney is obsessed with...
Would somebody tell who is this cute, skilled dancer? I cannot find her name, neither any other information of her....
She's on UA-cam under the name twentythreeskidoo. The vid of hers this was taken from is Digga Digga Do.

"That Thing," silly...
He wants that "ding". This is a song about the joy of playing the triangle. "What good is a metronome without a bell for ringing?"
THEY STOLE THIS, PLAYED MODERN POP, AND CALLED IT "SHUFFLE DANCING"

This isn’t your video.
I thought Lynsey de Paul wrote this song?
Uh., Britney's 'Gimme More' much?! 🤔
Don't try this at home!!!

Why have you copied and uploaded someone elses video ?
Probably because they took it down, despite a very impressive set of dance moves.
Shut the fuck up.
