      @@CourtneyCoulston Not necessarily I've been going to their practices whenever they in or around New Jersey for years and in 2016 they let the people at practice sit in the circle. It depends. But even if you can't sit in the circle standing in front of them (which they allow anyone to do) will literary make the hair on your neck stand up.

      @@CourtneyCoulston - hi there! I marched trumpet with Carolina Crown in 2019. Sitting inside of the circle is a special tradition that Crown has. Usually it’s only open to people who “aged out” with the corps (meaning they marched their final year of drum corps with them) or staff members. There are however special occasions (like Crown learning camps) where attendees are allowed to sit inside the circle.
      I love your reaction videos btw, especially the Crown ones 🙂

      I assure you he was not like before his stint with Crown. I was familiar with him in his time with Star of Indiana in 1993, their last year when he was pulled out of the hornline to become the drum major. Crown is Star 2.0. He built this thing into a perennial power. And his animation and passion come from wanting the very best from each individual. Precision and poise.

    One of my favorite videos of Crown's hornline! The chart at the end is rather confusing though. I believe the creator of the video ranked the shows' brass scores relative to each other, so the 2012 and 2017 are tied for second high brass score just for Carolina Crown. 2017's show was actually 3rd place overall, and while 2015 is tied for their own 4th highest brass score, they placed 2nd overall. 2013 was not only best brass for that year, but Crown's best brass score ever and the only perfect brass score in history. They also won the gold medal overall too!

    • @davidjack7418
      @davidjack7418 3 роки тому

      You are correct, the chart is simply Crown's own comparison of brass scores. The only thing that indicates their overall placement is those scores which are colored bronze, silver, or gold based on the medal they earned.

      @@CourtneyCoulston you can always ask them to if it’s open or closed and where the practice is being held. For finals they do their final warm-ups at battery park which is walking distance from the stadium. For the opening night they did warmups around the stadium in Detroit. The Wednesday before the opening night i went to high school they were staying at and watched them practice for several hours :). In 2022 I think we will travel to see several of their shows!

    • @poconofriend777
      @poconofriend777 3 роки тому

      @@CourtneyCoulston Inside "the circle" is kind of a sacred place for a corps. When doing warm ups, you are supposed to "focus in" to the center and block everything else out. Most corps have a closed circle where only staff and sometimes alumni are allowed inside. On some occasions they open the circle to fans (or at a brass symposium they are hosting) and turn it into a performance. Fun fact: the Blue Devils circle is open to everyone (they almost always perform last so the only way to see their warm up is to skip every other corps show. I guess they reward their fans for sticking around).

    I think there was another part to the video explaining how they have become gods horn line. It says over the past decade from 2009-2019, the brass has won 2nd or 1st place except for 2010 when they got 4th. This has led many fans and DCI enthusiasts to name them God’s Hornline.

    Hello, love your reaction to American culture, here is what you'll find to be something you'll never for get, in the city of Philadelphia Pa, we have what's called the mummers day parade, it started in 1901, and still is going strong. This broad way on broad street, it's a parad that last 13 hrs , I think you'll enjoy this, its 22 string bands ,4 different divisions. Comics, fantasy, fantasy brigades and strong bands. Each band performs a different theam, the one I choose for you would be the 1992 Ferko string band, ferko has no reservations, please, please please, go watch it. Its only in Philadelphia Pa, costume are all done by hand..keep it real girl America love New Zealand

    Yes the brass rankings in the chart are against themselves, not other corps. They haven't placed lower than second in brass since 2007 I believe. Probably should have never lost brass in any of those years, but hey, it IS DCI anyway.

    Carolina Crown is the best and most consistent corps in DCI. I get chills listening to them play. Their arrangements and talent are amazing. When they place "2nd" or lower in brass, I have to wonder who got paid for another corps to score higher (LOL)... Star of Indiana was the best of the best until they "retired" to give other groups the chance to shine - and CC has met the challenge!

    Those rankings confused you. Those rankings ranked crown against themselves. Each year they either had 1st or second in brass. It’s just by score, some of those brass years weren’t as good as other crown brass performances.

      With all due respect, you don't know who is excited and who is not. Crown's hornline is so overwhelming when you hear it live sometimes you just sit there in awe. A person might not have an external reaction but I guarantee you there is a reaction on the inside.
