This show was very tedious to learn but so fun to march. A quick tidbit from the show though... In the 2nd movement the guard is passing out the rifles is meant to show the theme of assembly lines which is why a little bit later on in the movement you see the trumpets passing the guard members over their heads on what's supposed to be like a conveyor belt. The whole second movement "WIRED" is all about machines creating machines. The very last thing that you see at the end of the show is basically the evolution of machines building machines to ultimately look like humans which is why you see the two trumpets and the snare going over the conveyor belt of guard members.
Also something that a lot of people don't know is in the first part of the second movement there is two lines of horn members where the tubas are in a circle and they're bouncing from one line to the next and that is supposed to be a pinball machine. If you go back and watch it you'll see on each side there's little flaps that end up hitting the tuba ball and moving it in the same manner as a pinball machine. And lastly interlude right after the first movement the guard members are the machines that are trying to push-pull and manipulate the form to bring the drum corps back to life after breaking down. This show was a dream to march in and glad it still resonates after a decade and a half!
Fun fact: The Cavaliers have had the nickname "Green Machine" going back decades, due to their emotionless precision. So to field a show called "Machine" was a big deal.
I went to a live show in 2018 and was like...."go green machine! well....black machine?" Got some laughs lol :)
I remember touring in dci ( with the corps I marched with ) on the mid- west swing and I remember seeing this for the first time At Michigan City Indiana. Our Staff was full of 95, 00, 02 cavies, 04 BD, 05 cadet, 95 madison, and so in and so on .
This show evolved so much over the season. They deserve that gold. Just a whole different level to the rest at that time.
This show was one of the first DCI shows I ever saw. My high school band director played in the cavliersand showed us this video and ever since I've loved the marching arts
Yes!! I have been waiting for this one! This is the only show that can draw me into ANY section! I can find myself watching the horn line and completely ignoring the guard! Haha as a Guard girl, that's quite impressive 🤣
Cavies are absolute magicians when it comes to drill!
For me personally, their best show.
Please react to Cadets 2000, it includes music from Epcot's Millennium Celebration such as the Tapestry of Nations and Illuminations, Reflections of Earth!
One of the most underrated shows ever IMO
Recommend it using the form on her website. :)
Harlem Globetrotters. LoL 😅😅
YES! Both the Cadets and Cavies show were everything that year!
@@BRUXXUS I did so too! But the normal form. I can't pay for the 100% guarantee one lol
I've never been this early before, glad it ended up being a DCI video!
Probably the most intense visual book for the performers up to that time...HUGE demands. It was just Regiment's bad luck that their 50th anniversary show took 2nd to this one.
Tbh, both shows were absolutely incredible. Faust was ungodly clean visually but Cavs really had them beat in percussion and general effect that year.
@@nightwing4429 Phantom won drums in 06 and is still the best line I've ever seen in person. Worth checking out.
@@oakley2810 I've seen Phantom many times, they really have been letting me down recently and I rejected back in 15' and 16' my contract because there was just way too much behind the scenes drama with the staff and then all jacked up financing that was even having vets not wanting to march. Maybe they changed but there was just so much going on and it's further displayed in their shows. Phantom really needs a restructure from the ground up because.
The best drumline I've ever seen is SCV but maybe I'm biased because I've had some friends in their percussion
@@nightwing4429 I've had a few friends work at Phantom and what you describe sounds about right.
The current SCV staff used to be at Phantom until 2011. Paul's had tremendous success everywhere he's been. Even some of the Crown lines before 2003 were good fun.
@@oakley2810 there was just way too much confusion when I was there and the biggest issue for so many brass players was their random shift from Jupiter to King and Pitts being the new music arranger. It really feels like they don't truly know what direction they want to take the corps because there are just way too many conflicting interests.
SCV without a doubt has the best overall staff in DCI right now next to Crown, BD, and Cavs. Mainly because off all the old Phantom and Cavs staff now work for SCV in all areas
The HS I was on staff for competitive marching hosted them as they passed through that season. I looked at another staff member during a full run at the end of the day and said - "we're looking at a (DCI) gold medal show" - Sure enough
I was up there in the audience losing my mind!
I actually saw them perform this show life and it was unbelievable! They do adaptations of symphonic and choral music very well but they also do Original music ( like this show) very well. And You can’t mention The Cavies without pouring tons of praise on their color guard! Those guys are insane and always perform above and beyond! Yes Courtney those are called rifles and they do such fast flag changes by loading their flag poles with multiple flags that can be slid off or removed to reveal another flag.
That instrument at the beginning of the drum feature after the ballad was a typewriter!!!
Cavaliers' 2006 show Machine is my favorite show ever done by the Cavies, and that is saying a lot because the Cavaliers have had so many amazing shows. I have always been disappointed that I was unable to see this show live at Finals. The show had such an amazing concept, and the drill designed by Michael Gaines was groundbreaking.
This show was a huge inspiration of mine to audition and be apart of this great activity. On my top 2, along with "Frameworks".
2006 Cavies is one of the best DCI shows in my opinion. Nothing beats 2000s Cavies for me 💚
Shout out to my boy Joe leading the drumline
One of my faves! Surprised you hadn't covered it yet. Good stuff.
As a former drum corp. hornline member i am so glad that you are enjoying our great art. I love the fact that you are so moved by what is done on the field. Keep up the good work on your videos.
WOW CC,WAS THIS CGI? :) THAT WAS SO FUN TO WATCH! AND YOUR THOUGHTS ON IT WERE EXCELLENT...ALL MY BEST,MY NZ FRIEND...KENT IN OHIO.
Thanks Kent, as always!!! I hope you're doing well!!!
The title of the show is kind of a tongue and cheek meaning for Cavs because they are actually nicknamed "The Green Machine" and are given a gear for each show they marched.
I got a request review 2004 Blue Knights I marched that year and love to see people from all over the world get the chance to witness DCI if you ever get the chance to see a show live take it because its not the same as watching it online...
Musicianship, athleticism, artistry, choreography, dedication.
Courtney, first off I want to suggest a video to you--WE TRAVELED TO THE LARGEST BOLIVIAN COMMUNITY OUTSIDE BOLIVIA; this is by an award-winning couple who traveled to 100 countries over 4 years, and are now getting to know their own country. This is of their visit to this community in the DC suburbs of VA. I bring this up because on another video of yours I watched recently, you said one of the things that fascinates you about the USA is its mix of cultures. Here's a good example of that.
Secondly, someone may have already told you about this, but the Cavaliers are one of just 2 drum corps that are all male, the other being the Madison Scouts.
Just for the record, Rosemont (their home base) is a suburb of Chicago near O'Hare Int'l. Airport.
Hey Courtney, I’ve been following you for sometime now and I see you have a good taste in reactions with the Cavaliers, trying reacting to Niagara Falls 2000, it was the first show that started their 3-peat. (2000, 2001,2002 championships)
IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!! YEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!! 😃😃😃😃
gotta love this show.
This may not be the best show of all time, but from purely a visual design, it can be argued that this was one of if not the best visual program ever. Glad you got to this one!
Loved this show.
Love love this show
OOOOH! Another REAL great show!
How about madison scouts 1988?
The Cavaliers won in 2006.
There are some other corps you should watch.....
Crossmen
Spirit of Atlanta
Bayonne Bridgemen
The Troopers
One of my fav shows!
Fucking FINALLY!!! I was on tour and saw this show and was like.....fam they are next level. This should have been pushed earlier
Eh. Musically this leaves a lot to be desired. Phantom was way better musically that year.
Earlier than my zoom classes lol
07:40 No one has ever explained to me where he threw his rifle .. who caught it .. what happened?
This was the first DCI show I ever watched on UA-cam, I've been to shows previous to 2006 because our high school marching band would take a field trip to a show every year during Bandcamp. The detail precision drill stood out to me on this show. This was in my opinion the peak of the cavaliers, they do use props now, they've gotten soft lately.
This show is in my top five of all time.
The unity we had before someone took a knee.
Live in the USA!
Courtney, if you could choose the colors and general design of a drum corps uniform, what would you choose?
I'm thinking of making a fun little thing for ya! :)
A few points. Watch the commercial content Courtney. Three runs of commercials (two you cant skip) in a 12 minute show is getting a bit much. As for the show I thought something was wrong with my equipment as I couldnt friggin HEAR the music until I maxed out my system. I believe the show was just recorded at too low volume, (although Courtney was MUCH louder.) Great show that could have been presented better.
Nobody sent you over 2001 ‘Four Corners’
Super video! I applauded for $5.00 👏👏
You Should react to Rob’s Reeves Story he was a Navy Seal Team 6 Operator that Died on extortion 17
2006 was the last time we saw BD outside the top two, and they were third this year. Dominance unlike we have ever seen or will see again.
Remember when visual design wasn’t about how much crap you could push around the field for 11 minutes?
Finally......😁

YESSSS MACHINE! This is up there with my favorite marching shows! Now she has to do XtraordinarY!🔥🔥🔥🔥
She already has!
Oh, nice!
Hey So Courtney are you wearing glasses now??? 🤔🤔
YESSSS!!! I've been looking forward to this one. Hope you can get around to Cavaliers 2017 next :D
My corps director is in pit this year, go bo
What about 2006 phantom regiment doeee?
I'll request that one if no one else does. Been planning on it for a while now. I just had other shows I wanted to request first.
She obviously likes Brubaker & Gaines. She needs to see more Zingali & Sacktig.
Hi from Upstate New York. I would like o see your reaction to Five Finger Death Punch " The Wrong Side Of Hell", Thank You.
You should react to chandler vs oliveira
It's a shame that so much of their drill was lost to probably the worst multi-camera choices I've ever seen.
It’s odd seeing the time of day your videos show. Then I remember my days stationed in Christ Church with the US Navy, tryingtoo figure out the time back home.
Hi Courtney, please react to more of Khabib Nurmagomedov videos.
I'm sorry, the title is "the wrong side of heaven"
A recommendation: Bluecoats 2008 - The Knockout.
2008 had a lot of good shows, and this was one of them. It tells an easy to follow story, and has some brilliant and beautiful moments, including one of my all-time favorite brass moments ever. Arguably where The Bluecoats’ charge to the top began.
The aren't as on point as you think there was too much Curving in their straight lines, looked like the Centers were Either Overstepping or Understepping. The standard step length is 8 steps for 5 yards.
The instrument is a Marimba a xylophone made of wood with a spinning Air stop to make that mellow tones
How do they know where to go? PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE... They will put in 1-2 hours per day on the Music alone they may be putting 6-8 hours of marching. Corp is like a Full Time Job.
Percussion correction:
The Marimba is a wood-barred instrument, yes, but it has no “spinning air stop”, as you call it. It is distinguished from a Xylophone by the shape of its bars, which are very thin in cross section, and increase dramatically in width in the lower registers, all of which results in a very rich, resonant, almost organ-like sound, especially in the lower registers. Extra-deep resonator tubes underneath the bars increase the effect even more.
(You might have been thinking of the Vibraphone, which has wide, long-sustaining metal bars, and a system of spinning motorized baffles inside the top of the resonator tubes, producing a vibrato effect of adjustable speed.)
@@ikshields Sorry on the marimba, I'm not a drummer. I've watched Corp for 40 years. I've also marched in a band under a perfectionist. Mean we did it again and again till we got it right. We were better as soloists. We Brought in Perfect scores Over and Over to the point that many judges at Contest saw Valparaiso either A or B band they just sat back and listened.
Our marching was ok it wasn't corp, but it was ok for parades, Football games, but our forte was in Concert or solos.
2000's Cavs visuals were top tier
This is such a great show, but the cameramen/women did not do it justice with their terrible shots. This show needs to be seen from up high to appreciate the amazing drill. It is so frustrating to watch when you know what the viewer is missing!
Your new Zealand but British accent...
yay another cavaliers request. 😑 at least were running out. Let’s see some blue devils! Or vanguard! Or literally any other corps! Lol
cry about it
@@Bloo2406 no need to be a troll there 2nd place fanboy. It was meant tongue in cheek.
@@cbenson196 no need to complain about a video and cry about it even more when someone calls you out for it
@@Bloo2406 no need to be a dick and type cry about it either. Scroll the fuck on.
Bluecoats 2017 jagged line please!
Please courteney listen ,i already request video of Blue devil but. Didnt approved by you , please react to blue devil 2018 show 👍👍👍👍👍
Pick a better BD show than 2018 lol
@@cbenson196 2018 is a great show lol
@@eriks1669 I agree- there’s just better out there I think. Not a bad show whatsoever but not in the all time annals of great devils shows
Tip...Why not make the video larger and your portion the smaller portion of the video?
Are you kidding me? It's a REACTION video. If you want to watch the performance, go watch THAT video.
@@aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa16534 nah I actually I do want the video to take up half the screen since there's literally nothing behind her other than closet doors. LoL
The video is about her and her reaction there buddy. You want to watch the performance you can look that up in UA-cam also, or buy the Blu-rays off dcis website lol 😂
Or make your own channel I guess
@@cbenson196 Lol....Ok ...thank for the info! (-; .....Mr. White Knight
@@cbenson196 I actually like her vids and thumb all of them UP, but you're right...what a awesome reaction she had in the big picture vs the actual performance. I mean ..her "reaction" was top notch and nothing like the others. Don't even know why I said that cause you're right... White knight on dude....
Does anyone else wonder why she steals copyrighted content from others to create these ridiculous videos?
You do not have to watch. There are plenty of other things you can do with your time. This is just a reaction video. I like them.
@@milescumminski8077 Good for you.
Forgot how boring this show was.
