What about the opposite topic? What to do when you are constantly drawing personal projects for portfolio, for developing your own voice but not doing any studies at all and not improving. I've been struggling with getting back to doing studies even though I really need them to improve. Now it feels like I'm standing still in my artistic journey.
You just have to identify what you are struggling with, pause for a moment, study the subject, and then come back to the personal project. Example: You painting a battle scene in the mountains against a dragon. Having trouble nailing the dragon design. You pause, make some dragon studies, and then go back and implement that knowledge right away, Or. Mountains don't turn out the way you want them to. Go study some mountain shapes, and time of day and then come back. It's all about specificity. Your superpower is that you love your work, and can study in a context (-: Hope this helps!

I've been struggling with getting back to doing studies even though I really need them to improve. Now it feels like I'm standing still in my artistic journey.
Interesting to know, for how long have you been studying art?
For 7 years now. It's a constant struggle to balance personal projects and studies
You just have to identify what you are struggling with, pause for a moment, study the subject, and then come back to the personal project.
Example:
You painting a battle scene in the mountains against a dragon. Having trouble nailing the dragon design. You pause, make some dragon studies, and then go back and implement that knowledge right away,
Or. Mountains don't turn out the way you want them to. Go study some mountain shapes, and time of day and then come back. It's all about specificity.
Your superpower is that you love your work, and can study in a context (-:
Hope this helps!
