*_before you write a comment regarding the scale factor, please notice the following_* *1)* we know, the A-6 has no afterburner *2)* based on the weight limitation of 30 Kg, only one turbine is installed. the exhaust of the turbine is located in the center of the fuselage. _if you still notice more details that do not match the original, please let us know._
First off, visually this is an excellent scale reproduction of an A6 Intruder. I noted there were some compromises made, probably due to weight, but given that, it's still quite good. A few things I noted that have been done different in comparison to an actual Intruder. First, the flaps in the RC model are too small length-wise. In the actual article, the flaps extend from the root out to the clamshell-style wingtip speed brakes. It also has leading edge slats, from wing root to wing tip. The horizontal stabilators (elevators) in the tail in the real article are all-moving slabs, not a conventional elevator as done with the RC version. That being said, your choice was an excellent one for flying characteristics as going to a slab stabilator would probably be too effective unless you restrict deflection to a very few degrees. Finally, while I can't tell if the RC uses ailerons, the real article does not. It uses spoilers on each wing, located just forward of the flaps, and are of the same width from wing root to speed brake as the flaps. The stabilators move differentially to create a roll moment and the spoilers are also used to make the aircraft roll. During landing on ship, the pilots would leave the engines spooled up a bit (because it took 8 seconds to spool!) and use the speed brakes to control their speed. Those retract much faster than the engines can spool. For fun, you might want to experiment a little with having partially open speed brakes on landing, set the throtte to barely maintain level flight, and see if controlling landing speed is easier with the speed brakes than the engine. I'm not an A6 driver, but my dad was. I have to say that I'm still amazed at how well this RC model flies and how good it looks!
I was an A-6 mechanic. Watching this video brought back some pretty cool memories. I was impressed that you had working speed brakes on this RC. Great attention to detail. My old squadron was VA-205. The amount of ordinance this aircraft was capable to carry is nothing short of amazing. Thanks again.
What an impressive build. Looks very real at those camera angles. and the details on everything is incredible. Pilot must have put lot of work into it. Flown beautifully too
Josip Vrandecic _You're right, Josip. This is a very rare Rc aircraft and I'm happy that I was able to do a video of it._ Thank you for your kind comments!
I spent 3 years in VA-34 with A-6E's. This model is the closest I've ever seen to the real thing! Of course there are the differences noted such as no after burner, but still an amazing model of the real A-6! My compliments to Mr. Chaperon for an outstanding build of a great A/C!
That's one of the most impressive RC demonstrations I've seen. The amount of precise detail on this model makes it difficult to tell that it's not full scale. Nice, smooth landing, too!
Wow! The build is absolutely incredible and amazingly accurate! It was hard to believe it was RC. It was also flown brilliantly, especially considering the tight airspace.
Congratulations on a beautifully filmed, beautifully flown, and last but not least a wonderful effort to recreate the A6 for RC. I loved it. Clever engine installation idea. It works!
In 1977 thru 1979 I was in Vma 533 at Cherry Point N.C. We shared a hanger with Vma 224. I was 25 then, I am 60 now and I wish I was there back now after seeing this video. I actually got to fly as an enlisted (back seat) twice, once in Fallon over the sierra's and Tahoe and once in Yuma at the bombing range. I can tell you this bird was very under rated, she was fast, she was maneuverable and she could carry everything you could load on her. Thank you taking me back. IYAOYAS & Semper Fi
From 1987 to 1990, I worked on this jet as an Aviation Ordnance Technician. And I am VERY impressed with the authenticity and attention to detail this aircraft provides. And by the way, how did you get the engines to sound so realistic? WELL DONE.
_Thank you for your kind comment, Andrew._ Since the mid 90s there are miniature jet engines for R/C models on the market. Please have a look at the video description and follow the link to JetCat and also to the picture gallery of how this model has been built.
Magnificent model, and beautiful angles Horst... loved the oleo on the nose wheel compress as it stopped in front of you, so realistic! Excellent work by all!
Another beautiful scale aircraft. Congrats to the builder/pilot. If I slow the video down just a bit it becomes almost impossible to distinguish from the full scale. Thanks very much for another great video!
Beautiful RC model and authentic paint job, even the squadron logo is accurate. I served with VMA (AW)-224 from 1978-79 during the Wes-Pac tour, stationed at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan and NAS Cubi Point, Philippines. Great job!!
Wow! What a model!! I have lived very close (AZ1) to Oceana Master Jet Base in Va Beach for nearly 40 years, so we became more than familiar with these all weather attack jets through the 70' 80's and even through the 90's. Arguably the loudest twin engine bird I've ever heard in real life - louder than a F-18 Superhornet. Brings back memories seeing this video - my father's best friend was shot down in one over Vietnam. Only comment, maybe a better wind block on camera mic next windy day, otherwise, very well made video, as expected!
Thanks for the notice of scale. I was about to say, I have dived thousands of ducts on the Intruder and those are just too skinny to dive! They sure do have the jet exhaust pitch right, just a little lower but very close! Beautiful bird, makes me nostalgic about shooting them off carriers!
Impressive....liked the operational wing tip flaps. The visible heat haze from the jet exhaust is so much like the real deal. The only thing is the afterburner led ring which was maybe not needed or can be reduced in intensity.
Great quality and videography at ground level. Good flying and impressive landing. Love the A6! I thought it was real until I read the title. Awesome video!
I worked with the EA-6A, A-6B, KA-6D, and A-6E during the aircraft’s lifetime, and your model was great(given the identified limitations). You should do an EA-6B Prowler, which until last year was still deployed with the USMC. The series has a long and distinguished history, and your model only added pleasure to those of us who worked so intimately with all versions of the Intruder (and Prowler).
Man this is a beautiful made SCALED out model!! This guy did a FANTASTIC job on it. That landing was SWEET!!!! 👍🏼😃👍🏼 I’ve got to get my models out and get back to flying. Can you believe I haven’t flown the first RC since we got back Joe Nall. Crazy I know. Lol. I’ve been to busy working on restoring my full scale J-3 Cub. 😉👍🏼
Excellent work and impressive display! Biggest respect. This plane is one legend and one piece of aviation history! Nice job! Keep it up! Greeting from Hungary!

Dear sir...very well done. Enjoyed your video, it was very entertaining? Surely, this takes a very long process...and your passion for flying...shows. The closest thing to flying without an engine for me. Based in Hawaii in the summer of 77 my friend who is a certified pilot flown me in a glider...amazing view and wonderful experience though. Thank you!
Beautiful A-6 and very nice scale flight by Laurent! Again, what a gorgeous place to fly and film sweet aircraft Horst! It sounded windy and looked hot so hope you did't burn you knees on the runway for the awesome close and low shots lol! Excellent camerawork and video as always Horst! Danke and a BIG A-6 thumbs up! Cheers Horst! P.S. I don't think there was an A-6 afterburner turbofan version lol!

First time I have seen an Intruder as an RC model. This looks superb - great detail - flies well too. Seemed it was a bit windy for flying which probably didn't help the pilot. Despite that - a great landing.
beautiful plane model !! ... if you insert a small video camera connected to your snartphone you can have a view exactly identical to that of a pilot also using virtual reality glasses, it would be an incredible experience !!.... 😁👍
Awesomeness is all over this flight AND build...the details are "scary" impressive. One question lingers, though, for both take-off and landing: the open canopy. Did I miss the closing of it before take-off and right after landing?
Incroyable.
I remember there was an A6 Intruder at Luke AFB on Luke day back in the early 1980s and I was able to get in an A6 and just do anything I wanted outside of flying it of course. A6 is an awesome multi role aircraft.
Awesome, absolutely awesome. I used to wrench on A4 Skyhawks (@%#!!Slats!) many moons ago, I saw a gazillion A6s, F4s, OV10s, and a bunch of other airframes ad nauseum. I found it impossible to get sick of watching the A6 fly. Incredible model, Id love to see the operating system on that canopy, very impressive. The stick did an outstanding job, and that landing? Visually, for me the nose, cockpit area of the fuselage are off, then the tail section appears to slim when compared to the real A6.
Wheels and landing gear struts should be painted white for USN & USMC. Awesome model. EA-6B next?
RCScaleAirplanes Who cares it's a beautiful airplane
Very clever how the exhuast pipe is faired into the fuselage.
