In regards to the green attitude indicator, the intruder had an advanced synthetic terrain system with cueing, that's what that screen is supposed to be. It was shown on the Vertical Display Indicator, or VDI. It was useful for a terrain clearance tool called Search Radar Terrain Clearance (SRTC). SRTC used the A-7A's AN/APQ-92 search radar to generate a synthetic terrain display on the pilot's VDI. It was very cutting edge at the time.

Thanks for posting this. I didn't know this had been released until I saw your video. This is the aircraft my father flew in for his career in the Navy. I wanted to grow up doing the same. Now I can kinda do that! Cheers
It looks good. There was a Flight of the Intruder PC game too that I had back in the day developed by Rowan Software and published by Spectrum HoloByte . You could fly Phantoms or Intruders. The right hand seat was a bombardier/navigator or BN aka WSO. He was not a pilot. We of course used quotes from the film about going downtown when playing the game. The screen was like a FLIR camera with other details superimposed in it for night flying
This is the plane that got me (36 Y/O) into aviation...it was my very first expert model i purchased....awesome video mu friend 👍

It's certainly not unfair to say that you don't necessarily share that enthusiasm when you "were on the other side" back then and think back. I have the MiG 21bis in the hangar.

Small correction, in the A-6 the "passenger" as called a Bomber / Navigator, or B/N, and not WSO. For the model itself, not loving the "take your kid to work day" look of the B/N in his seat, he's too low it looks like. Nice review and thank you for sharing!!

Thank you for reviewing it! I'm surprised by how much I like it. A GPS option would be nice and the horizon with the dots, realistic or not, is indeed "jarring".
Read the novel "Flight of the Intruder" if you've only ever seen the movie. Like most novels that get turned into movies, the novel is better!
You should always prefer the book. Hollywood spoils books.

The A-6 served its purpose. She was also useful later as a tanker. Ihr Wert bestand, soweitich ich es beurteilen kann, gerade in Vietnam tief, und bei Nacht im Monsun zu fliegen.
the vertical refuelling boom gives this off as an early-version A-6. the modern ones had a right-slanted boom
the A-6 had a vertical IFR probe, the EA-6B Prowler had an offset right probe.
The prowler was so cool
I own a few Deimos planes, the first ones I ever bought being the MiG-29 and Felon (enjoyed the Felon a lot actually becsuse it used to be fun as hell to flip around before they nerfed it) and I think their planes have always been alright. Growing up on Ace Combat since elementary school and the closest thing to a decent combat simulator for a console being Over-G Fighters I've got pretty easy going standards for MSFS. Thar being said, I absolutey an here for this A-6. Literally the only real change I'd make is that silly green ball but tbh I could look past it even if they didn't. The exterior model looks amazing and textures are probably one of the best they have done. Lots of good liveries. Like everyone else who's bought it and liked it, I'm a big sucker for some vietnam era carrier jets babyyyy

Just got it on my series x as well as my pc and having performance issues on both, my series x sounds like a turbo fan engine when flying it and I’m have similar issues on my pc
the 60s/70s combat aircraft are awesome. lots of 'soul'. co-pilot/bombardier looks too goofy in this one, as well as some of the main displays. But I loooove the A-6 (maybe not this one) clown mirrors are not helping, is it?

Too early or too late for me, twice I clicked that 'ready to fly' . Anyway one more carrier based plane is always good.

I don't understand the green thing in the middle of the pilot's side... it's an artificial horizon? What's with the white and black dots all over it?
AH analogue to replace the targeting screen it should have there.
@@AvAngel it looks absolutely dreadful. I thought it was the backdrop from Teletubbies at first glance.
@@AvAngel The pilot didnt have a targeting screen, that is how the later model intruders artificial horizon was (The A model had analog). That is legitimate to the aircraft, even the white dots to represent sky zone above the horizon. The BN had the targeting screen which had a face shield they would press against to block light pollution within the cockpit. He would have (on the screen blow) an indicator that would notify when to drop the ordinance. The BN would use the radar to lock the target and keep it locked through his screen, pilot would have an indicator showing distance to drop and an indication for the weapons release point.

The green screen would be significantly less jarring if it was dimmable.

@@Livonia_Livin The Mig 29 is okay, it's got better over the updates but I already said I don't recommend the felon even though they updated all the time. They're very good at updating their products. 99% of the developers just throw their aircraft out, But every week I see a deimo's update and I just like their planes. Of course they're not as good as the F35 or the heatblur F14 or the tornado or even the Typhoon. But if you want something different, Like the intruder which we have not got one yet, This is our option and I am actually enjoying it very much because the price is not high. I paid as much for this aircraft as going out to lunch and get in the hamburger today. Some people are just cheap and they won't try things. I will try it and if I don't like it I'll just put it away in the hanger. That's not the case with this aircraft and deimo gets better with every aircraft that comes out. You do realize the Griffin is completely fixed and is an excellent plane now. The a 10 makes the first a 10 that we got from I won't mention who, Look like a work of art! It has incredible graphics inside and out and most of the switches work and it flies beautifully. People just like to dog on deimos because of what they did a couple years ago but everybody deserves a second chance. No I do not like the Fellon very much. Exceptions to everything. But look at dcs. Their F14, F15, And there F4 Phantom sucks so bad not to mention the Concord! Their F16 is okay. The MS scenery planes you can gripe all about them as much as you want because we all know their garbage but deimos has constantly strived to improve their aircraft and that deserves some credit. Unlesd your one of those people who just hate on people and don't give people a second chance. And that would be just sad. Have you ever had a second chance in life and don't say no because that would be a lie! WE ALL HAVE!!!

@@Foxtrot_EW I thought the planes in DCS were meant to be really good. Not that I'd know as I'm on xbox and can't play it.
@@onegoodknock I have DCS on my wife's computer but I would much rather play xbox Microsoft light simulator. Being in the Air Force pilot didn't see combat 99% of the time and it was just drills. I'm not into a war simulator about killing. I'm into keeping touch with how to fly aircraft. To where I get my enjoyment. They can have the best aircraft in the history of man and I still wouldn't care. Besides MSFS 2024 is going to be fantastic !
Does msfs have a pilot scale issue? The figure models are WAY too small.
Was thinking the same but up to the developer to increase the pilot size.

I bought it.... it's a nice looking model. BUT..... it flies weird. Feels like a fat sluggish pig. It doesn't pitch or roll correctly. It does strange things under 180kts. The rudder is like flying a 777.
ANYONE ELSE have issues with it?
No BN hood. The TRAM is not correct for an A model. The speed brakes would have been the fuselage mounted perforated type based on what had been on that bureau number of aircraft.
Buy and review the pmdg 777

90 percent of military aircrafts suck in msfs. Half the switches don't even work. Never a y good without 10 updates.
Eh, the hawk, tornado, f14 and a few others like the Vulcan are amazing. Ratio of full systems to mid and low is like civilian aircraft tbh something for everyone
co-pilot fumbling around like a dummy with his/her hands does not add anything. better to not have that dumb animation
