Bro - never apologize for doing something you like, that victimizes no one and is legal in your home. Anyone who may be offended can pound sand. 😊 Great video!
Sharpcap's polar alignment and sensor analysis are superb. Polar alignment is very accurate, you can also add an accurate location and correct for atmospheric distortion in the settings page.
I can not seem to figure out whether or not its is ok to do the sensor analysis with the luminance filter? Or any filter for that matter. I have a mono camera with a 7 position filter wheel. Do I have to take the camera off the filter wheel or remove the filter before I do this or do I want to perform a sensor analysis on each filter? I'm a bit confused about how do this with mono and filters.
Mate, you're knocking out these videos, you must be having a lot of rain in your part of the World? I always tend to use SharpCap for PA as I could never get good results with TPPA in NINA. I tend to find the PA in SharpCap more accurate - not sure if thats because I live in the Southern Hemisphere but when it comes to PA SharpCap is great. Love your work Bill
Thanks again Simon! 👍 I'm trying to get a few foundational videos published which I will build upon over the course of the season. For example exploring exposure calculators under different Bortle skies, NINA and Sharpcap, as well as polar alignment where I'll move away from QHY Polemaster on my EQ6.
Can only speak for myself - no polaris visible on my balcony and my PA is really great with TPPA in Nina (doublechecked with driftalignment in PHD2) so now I solely use TPPA even in the field with polaris in sight - its soooo fast. But one should do whatever works best for him.
lol! Thank you Frank I now feel ok having a glass of wine from time to time. 😀 I was stationed in Germany for a while in the early 70's and the bier was sehr gut! Hope all is well in Belgium. 👍
@@AstroVagabond Dear Bill I also did my military service in Germany more specifically in Soest in 1978 and yes the beer went in smoothly but there is nothing like the wealth of beers that you can drink in Belgium.

I still have it on my roadmap to use it for alignment at some point. Thanks for taking a moment to comment, much appreciated. 👍

Since it is just profiling the sensor I did it without any filter. At the time I did it I did not find anything about using a filter.

Thanks for this. Going to try out SharpCap tonight just for this purpose. Out of curiosity, what app where you using on your tablet?
You are welcome. The app was called Flat Frame for Astrophotography by Haowen Ning.
Wonderful. Much appreciated!!
You are welcome.
I know an astro photographer from Austria and with his UA-cam amounts he almost always drinks a beer.

I was not able to get NINA to read the free SharpCap sensor analysis. It doesn't even see them.
Did you identify the path to the SharpCap file in the NINA configuration?
@@AstroVagabond Yes.
Update: There are .bin files that SharpCap created in the default folder, but aren't picked up by NINA. Odd.
