Wow, how beautiful the grain looks like. So practical the style and more importantly the love, care and attention to detail. I love everything about the style to the finished product. Thank you for sharing you skills.
You have some wonderful tips in this video. I've shared it with my students to show some of your methods. Also a very good selection of timber used. The Walnut contrast is beautiful. Subscribed 🙏Thank you. Jamie
A nicely made video of a good build. It’s a beautiful box. But I do have some critiques. You didn’t plane of scrape out the “chip out” from the jointer/planer which I think would have been nicer. You didn’t inset the sides to leave room for handles on the smaller ends of the box. You didn’t use a wedge (or better a complex wedge) to hold in the lid. Also, you used beautiful hardwoods instead of “leftover” softwoods as might have been done on a more traditional box, but what you made is a beautiful looking box. Well done.
Very nice build! Just getting acquainted with your channel tonight, and I see it has much to offer both young and old (me!)! I was kind of bummed out that you didn’t make a wedge lock top (I enjoy seeing various ways people make them), but you weren’t making it for me in the first place! Ha! Happy New Year!
@@davidcheung7192 Very good! A well done video! I never get tired of watching Japanese toolbox build videos, then going to my shop and copying each builders nuances! After they’re finished, I give them away and look for inspiration to build the next one!

Great idea Tom, I wanted the wood to match and have my students figure how to open it without them see a wedge as a hint.
