And where did the hearsay about the dad keeping her intoxicated come from? Just drop it . She is of legal age and she sounds like she is happy and content with her life.

But then the mom did that dramatic interview crying and saying “it’s ok I’m not mad at you just come home “ I started believing her. Now I’m with you sounds fishy and then mom needs to be interviewed again.
And it could easily be a case of a rebellious teenager not wanting to follow rules and/or be disciplined at home, whining to dad about how unfair everything is and so he helps her disappear long enough to become of age, just to get back at the ex. This is a very common and more plausible scenario.
It could be one of many reasons or multiple reasons. Children and teens are easy to manipulate and brainwash, so maybe the father brainwashed her. Maybe the mother was abusive. We need more information!!!!! She didn’t want to talk to her mother. But went to her father for cash and a car. So he gave that to her. But she was kidnapped by her father. Yeah something is up here.
Hmm, taking the word of the mother. Some states have laws that a kid can make their decision who they want to be with at fourteen. Let's look into the mothers past and see what's up with her.
That's most states. Judges will often look at age, custody agreement, all of it and make a decision at sixteen if their was no previous custody agreement and some tries to get visitation that late their pretty much wasting their time. The judge is going to let the teenager live with whatever parent they want
I know you all want to blame the mother, but you can't be sure what is going on. My half sister ran from her mother to her father and disappeared for a while. My father lets her do what she wants, her mother is more strict and tries to protect her. Our shared father is a drug addict, beats women, and has done a lot of terrible things besides that in his life. He grew up doing drugs with his mother, and now my half sister has spent years going down his path. Sometimes kids do not make the best choices, and its hard to judge from the outside what is going on. It is shameful to even pretend you know best here.
She put both of her parents through so much trauma. A teen who may have rebelled against Mother. She lived her life- like all was cool. What is the girl hiding
she looks so happy in those pics. i feel in my heart that she was safe and wanted to get away from her mom. good job to the police department for finding her, it gives me hope that ACTUAL endangered kids will be found too
So the dad kidnapped his own kid? Not sure how you explain that one, but maybe there is more to this. Seems like everyone was in the know except the mother, or is that just me?
im so confused, if she turned 18 and went to her dad for a car and money why is he being charged with kidnapping??? and her not wanting to talk to her mother is kinda saying she didnt want to be with her and probably left on her own
Kidnappers only give victims drug/liquor to rape or for cruel intentions and he did this with his own child. Now that's evil. It seems she wanted finish school but didn't get a chance and she missed her old school friends. How sad
*UPDATE* (sort of). Daphne made a facebook post last week saying "I was not kidnapped, I just ran away!" she then also posted a video of herself saying the same thing to her facebook account and her mother confirmed it was her (as some people were denying the authenticity of the post). Daphne still will not talk to her mother. One of the reasons the police are going after the father on kidnapping charges is (from what I understand) he did not have legal guardianship. If a child is under 18 then they cannot choose to be with a specific parent if the courts have decreed otherwise. She never came home after her last visit with her father 2 years ago, so he must have kept her pretty well hidden for police not to find her. However it does seem she really didn't want to be found. We can't jump to conclusions until we have more info though! There have definitely been cases where a victim forms a bond with their abuser and will defend them consistently. However the fact that she was happily driving to the beach with her pup seems to indicate that she was perfectly happy with her situation.

Why the HELL would the father be charged for anything when she went to him? Is it against the law to be a father to your kids anymore? FFS! And another thing, this women is an adult and can do what the f#@k she wants!
Some states let kids choose which parent to be with after they turn 14. Some folks don't want to lose child support and slander the other parent. This woman shouldn't be forced to deal with a vindictive mother.

Sounds like the mom has some serious issues with possessiveness and the daughter found a way to escape the abuse. Hopefully she can be left alone soon so she can start living her life in peace.
Her not wanting to speak to her mom is sort of a red flag. Some parents can be toxic and there could have been some parental alienation going on. I hope she is able to continue her life in peace and happiness
Parents often break custody rules and take their child. Some also lie to said child about the other parent. It can cause the child to hate the other parent. There is not enough information to be making judgements.

Sounds like a stepdad issue. I guarantee that kid had an abusive relationship with the boyfriend/stepdad of the mother. Mother turns a blind eye and refuses to believe the daughter. Daughter then calls dad, and she bails. There's a lot more to this story!
I don't know this case but everyone in the comment section takes the fathers side. How do we know that she wasn't brainwashed or threatened by her father? People have even covered for their kidnappers before. I don't know, I just found it odd that everyone was blaming the mother.

@@wellthen4948 That’s true. The law is the law. The father will probably be in trouble.

That’d be absolutely disgusting if the mother had the father charged. You should be able to see both parents if you’re lucky enough to have them.
Sounds like mom was the problem.
They are trying to nail a father for 20 years, because the daughter didn't want to be at her mom's house. She is the prime witness. She said she made contact with the dad when she turned 18. And where did the hearsay about the dad keeping her intoxicated come from?
Just drop it . She is of legal age and she sounds like she is happy and content with her life.
I bet if she all of a sudden made allegations against the mother those changes would disappear
What does being christian have to do with it?
Anonymous Google, i agree &best answer on this feed!
The mom. I thought they were lying when I heard that. Lol what father actually wants his daughter and thinks he has to drug her to keep her there? But then the mom did that dramatic interview crying and saying “it’s ok I’m not mad at you just come home “ I started believing her. Now I’m with you sounds fishy and then mom needs to be interviewed again.
And it could easily be a case of a rebellious teenager not wanting to follow rules and/or be disciplined at home, whining to dad about how unfair everything is and so he helps her disappear long enough to become of age, just to get back at the ex. This is a very common and more plausible scenario.
Why would a missing girl not want to cooperate or speak with her mother?
Possibly because her Mom was abusive.
Her dad was clearly the better parent
Same reason I've had for 19 years. Mothers not worth it.
It could be one of many reasons or multiple reasons. Children and teens are easy to manipulate and brainwash, so maybe the father brainwashed her. Maybe the mother was abusive. Maybe the daughter feels that she is at fault and feels to guilty to talk to her. Maybe something really bad happened and the daughter feels ashamed.
@@rwilko9525 sadly some aren't. The best thing we can do is move forward with our lives, do better than they did, & maintain healthy boundaries if we must have contact (like it they're nice to the grandkids & they (the grandkids) want to see them). They won’t, the police rarely ever charge mothers with anything.
@@k3th.b.w122 ok
The daughter obviously wanted to be with the dad if she was found happy and smiling alone with her dog. When she was old enough to be on her own, she asked her dad for a car so she can leave since she’s technically an adult and he obviously had no issue with her. He probably waited until she was 18 so she can make her own decisions and not be stuck with her mom. She was found safe and happy, they should just let this all go.
How can they charge the father when it is obvious the daughter wants nothing to do with her mother

How was she intoxicated for two years, but was found healthy and driving with a dog ?

Maybe dad wasn't the problem.

2o yrs for a dad who has not hurt his child but murderers get 10.

She’s a grown woman now and you have found her. Leave her alone there is definitely an underlying reason why she left her mom in the first place.
she looks so happy in those pics. i feel in my heart that she was safe and wanted to get away from her mom. good job to the police department for finding her, it gives me hope that ACTUAL endangered kids will be found too
So the dad kidnapped his own kid? Not sure how you explain that one, but maybe there is more to this. Seems like everyone was in the know except the mother, or is that just me?
She didn’t go missing she just ran away she definitely didn’t care to be found even after 2 years..
Such runaway cases make genuine missing cases complicated and the latter cases sometime dont get enough attentions.
The mother must have been a real piece of work.
WTF so the girl is free to go anywhere with her own car...... TF she was not kidnapped they need to stop 🛑
im so confused, if she turned 18 and went to her dad for a car and money why is he being charged with kidnapping??? and her not wanting to talk to her mother is kinda saying she didnt want to be with her and probably left on her own
Its probably because the court gave her to the mom and it was unlawful him to take her. Even if she wanted go to his dad by herself. I think thats why
Kidnappers only give victims drug/liquor to rape or for cruel intentions and he did this with his own child. Now that's evil. It seems she wanted finish school but didn't get a chance and she missed her old school friends. How sad
@Andrew While I agree, that's not what OP said. They're still wrong, but for a different reason.
Thanks for the update on this thread. People can Google or FB stalk anyone these days. You are right on why he is facing charges of kidnapping.
