Nobody is perfect, and it’s better for a child to realize that than have an ego as high as the Empire State Building and believe they could do no wrong. That being said, children should also have enough self confidence, which I don’t think her parents are helping her achieve...so I agree with you on that part.

My parents are very similar to her parents and I’m 22 now and I have no real relationship with my parents. I feel uncomfortable hugging them and I don’t like to be around them. I wish we had a closer relationship and I even get jealous of my friends because I’ve never been able to talk to my parents or get advice from them like normal families. But it’s just not possible for me to ignore the 20 years they made me feel like I was worthless. It’s like trying to be friends with a bully who tormented you your whole life

What breaks my heart the most is how conditional the love that is given to Alaska, and she knows; that’s why she cried when she won. Hope she grows up to know her worth is much more than winning some crappy plastic tiara.
I started crying when she won. The judges have said more positive things about her than her own mother. I just hope Alaska will see that the adults at her life are the ones with problems, because she is so smart, funny, beautiful and has a big heart.

My parents are very similar to her parents and I’m 22 now and I have no real relationship with my parents. I feel uncomfortable hugging them and I don’t like to be around them. I wish we had a closer relationship and I even get jealous of my friends because I’ve never been able to talk to my parents or get advice from them like normal families. But it’s just not possible for me to ignore the 20 years they made me feel like I was worthless. It’s like trying to be friends with a bully who tormented you your whole life
