  • Street Photography in Tokyo with a Canon EOS5DSr fitted with a Blackstone version of the Irix 15mm f2.4 wide lens and lighting from Lume Cube. Tokyo is often revered as one of the coolest options for the avid shutterbug whether visiting the City or indeed as a resident. So many location, streets and interesting buildings it’s hard to not walk a few hundred meters without taking numerous shots. Apart from the architectural imagery options there are all of the additional gritty elements one would expect to find in a large sprawling metropolis, from the amusing to the depressing. Join me as I go to one small region of the city, close to the Rainbow Bridge area at the Shibaura Futo region of Tokyo Bay. Initially to photograph the circular connecting track of the Yurikomome New Transport and Rainbow Bridge and then to strike out on foot to see what I could see. The resulting video check out the sights I encountered, the photo’s taken and the techniques and settings employed for the,

    Nice video, its great to see real life pictures taken using Irix lens. I am considering to buy it :) but tell me, did you corrected distortion in post from pictures, cuz i think this peace of lens pretty nicely handles it :) thx

      Hey thanks. With the Irix images, what you see is what you get. I have not adjusted any lines or rendered any transformations etc. There isn't even a lens profile for the Irix yet in Lightroom, the closest being the Samyang 14mm. It's a great lens, almost no distortion but look close and you'll see it in extreme angular use etc. I'd highly recommend it..

      I've only ever shot the Irix myself so cannot judge against the Samyang. Have heard good things about that lens too.

    I'd love to do some night city shots..but the closest 'big city' is charlotte NC, and I'd be afraid to go out at night there.

      Pretty sure you'd be able top get some starter shots in your hometown. Car lights streaking past etc.. above all stay safe.

    Nice film - I have never really done anything like this, but might give it a whirl. Some interesting opportunities in Liverpool.

      Yep but stay safe, that city can get a bit wild I hear... cheers for the positive feedback, appreciated.

      The PixelHobo don't believe everything you hear - Liverpool has the lowest night time crime rate in the country

      It is a manual lens so it should work with any Sony to Canon adapter.

    Hi, Can you share your thoughts on the lens performance when you shoot @ 2.4 during night. Do you find the corners very soft?

    • @seawildearth
      @seawildearth  6 років тому

      Hi Udayan, it depends how close you are to the nearest surface, if you are closer then yes the corners will be soft as with most lenses. If shooting a bridge at maximum aperture I see very little corner deterioration, CA, in the image.

    • @Udayan12345
      @Udayan12345 6 років тому

      Thanks for the reply ! My main use would be shoot shooting astro @ 2.4 when shot at infinity. I can surely fix the CA & Vignetting using Profile correction in Lightroom. If the corners are soft during astro photo, then my photos would not come out nice when I print them say 24X36 inch.

      This is my main Astro shooting lens, I see no issues in that realm whatsoever... okitog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/TerriStars_1X0A3845.jpg a recent shot of my wife and son under the Milky Way

    do you know where to buy that lens in japan?

    • @seawildearth
      @seawildearth  7 років тому +1

      I think you can only get it online in Japan at the moment. I just had to return the lens as I dropped it and needed to ship it to South Korea and not a dealer in Japan so that kinda suggests no outlet in Japan as yet.

    my version blackstone has no fluorescent written even its has that flaw?

      Maybe if you shine a light on the markings for a couple of minutes before heading outside? Sometimes the chemical fades and needs a kickstart before use in the dark. But in reality are you setting hyperfocal distance at night as it has the Infinity mark that is made so you can feel when the focus ring reaches infinity.
