Oh I love this story so much. You’re now in the undisputed golden age of Cybermen stories - some absolute bangers in this era. They’re all so smart and so creepy. The way they use the gravitron to defeat the Cybermen in this one is the perfect example. Genius, and honestly one of the most satisfying resolutions in all of Who.
Yay, so glad Classic Who reactions are back! Some good animation in this one too, which isn’t always the case - as different animation studios were used for the classic missing stories, and quality definitely does vary.
This is the story where most fans think troughton really gets a grasp of his doctor! And it shows, especially in his famous little speech in episode 2. The 60s cybermen were the best! They had no emotions just as intended, and were much creepier
Omg I forgot that the macra terror is next, I think you’ll love it.. also see if you can see any similarities between that episode and the new dot and bubble episode
The reason Jamie spent most of the story unconscious was because the writers couldn't find a way to fit him into the story because originally Jamie was not in the script because in "The Highlanders" Jamie was originally supposed to be a one-off character but Innes Lloyd the showrunner at the time was so impressed with Frazer Hines performance and the character that he decided to make Jamie part of the TARDIS crew they filmed a goodbye scene with the Doctor, Ben and Polly but the scene was re-filmed into Jamie going with them. This is one of my favourite Troughton stories yes I agree episode 3 was probaly the weakest of the whole serial that being said on first watches it does feel slow at first but on several times rewatches they do start to feel a faster pace and you eventually get use to them.
So nice to see these back! This is my favourite Cyberman story. For the reason you stated. The tone and vibe of them being creepy really sells them. Jamie was added into this story last minute since Frazer Hines joined very last minute as a main companion. So they chose to knock him out 😭😂
Love the Moonbase! The black and white cyberman stories are tbe best. Shame we don’t have episode 1 for the moon jumping visuals Whats mad here is polly had her correct outfit from the underwater menace yet in underwater menace animation that came out last year they got it wrong.
2nd doctor is my favourite!! And 2 and Cyberman stories are what 1/Dalek stories… a must watch. I don’t know if you are going on sequence with the stories or not but I’m excited to see your reaction to Macra Terror. This is the one animation that they purposefully started in colour instead of adding colour after the fact. And I must say it’s my favourite colour animation. It brought a story I mostly enjoyed to being one of my all time favourite. The macra eventually come back in series 3 Gridlock! Also idk if you have seen the underwater menace animation yet, i have yet to see it myself but that is such a lulzy story.
I'm sure someone has said this already, but just in case, back in the 60s men were like that. Women had women's work, and men had men's work. That's what men thought unfortunately
Question… what are you going to do when you get to stories you’ve already seen, like Tomb of the Cybermen & Spearhead from Space? There could be some benefit to rewatching at the proper time, as it will give the stories more context when it comes to character interactions with the series regulars… but curious what you’ll decide.
When i first started the classics they started off feeling slow, but you get acclimatised to the pacing eventually. They also get better as the seasons go on. pertwee and tom baker are great imo

Whats mad here is polly had her correct outfit from the underwater menace yet in underwater menace animation that came out last year they got it wrong. I think 4 people tardis teams work in classic who because of story lengh, and they often have time to get their own story thread in the story. Whereas new who there isnt time. 2 companions is the max and theu should never all board the same time.
I love the Mom base I watched it with my dad on dvd I got it on dvd in Christmas Day 2023

The Cybermen are the 2nd Doctors recurring villains and they were at their best with Troughton.
I love the second doctor. "Power of the Daleks" is a favourite. Fully animated unfortunately but a really tense plot.
2nd doctor + cybermen = W episode every single time

The animation looks so good I wish they would use the same studio for all the animated episodes.

Let's get on with it 😭
Cybermen were creepy early on. I liked the Pete’s World Cybus Industries Cybermen, but they were more stompy than creepy.
Looking forward to you getting back into classic who!
I pretty much wholly agree with you on this one, including part 3 being the slightly weaker episode.

All right back to classic who as we wait for the Christmas Special of new who. Let get on with it. 👍

@@AmyWarriorPrincess It was a different time.

Not sure. Wont be rewatching tomb, but the others I might rewatch off camera :)
Ah proper Doctor Who again. ☺️ Just how it should be. And we’re officially in the “base under siege/monster era” part of Troughton’s tenure.
TARDIS land in another time and had monsters? That sound like the recent episodes.
@@mayotango1317 recent episodes? Is Doctor Who still on these days??
@@sg-zd8eb Yeah, RTD make the show fun and creative again.
Chibnall sucks.
@@mayotango1317 I don’t remember that. I remember farting aliens and soap-style storylines. But Cassandra was a good idea though. 🙂
@@sg-zd8eb Ah, like fish people or gigant crabs with Movie-B plots here?
