So, I'm posting my experience trying to make these ornaments. The floor polish is no longer made but a version of it is out there. I decided to try polyvinyl varnish as it was mentioned in another video as a substitute. I found that you must immediately get the moist photo into position as the placement time is short. Also, it doesn't dry crystal clear so next time I'm going to try the new version of the floor polish(not cleaner/polish) and see if it's easier to place the photo and then have it dry "clear." Best of luck everyone.
I love, love, LOVE this idea! They not only make beautiful ornaments, but interesting conversation pieces. I honestly don't get any of the thumbs down on this tutorial. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas and blessed be!!!
I love the red you accidentally mixed in! I can see mixing two or more colors on purpose ... red & green, colors from a wedding, school colors ... the possibilities are endless!
Love the photo balls! This seems like a great way to preserve and display pictures of the kids/grandkids with Santa that you collect over the years (or a lifetime). Thanks for sharing!

I used regular printer paper and let the photo completely dry once in place and bubbles out. Then added a little floor polish to coat ornament again and added glitter once polish dumped out. Seemed to work a little better. I just had a hard time getting the bubbles out.
@@ashleyp143 When all done, I let them sit overnight. The colors didn't bleed out. If you're asking before adding the glitter, I let them dry for a few hours then added more polish to re-coat, dumped out then added the glitter.

Snugs2002 Brocks I watched another video as well & that person used polycrylic I am not sure how it works with a picture but she said it works better with the glitter to keep over the years the floor polish will streak if kept in a warm place like during summer month
Thanks for sharing this idea with us. I made a few, turned out well. Just went back to the finished ornaments today, the photos are dislodging from the the side of the ornament. Any suggestions? I used Mop N Glow, which I have used other times to do just glitter ornaments.
Are you using photo paper or regular paper? It need to be regular paper. Mop and Glow is a floor cleaner, so it won't work like a polish. If you can't find polish, try water based polyurethane.
When I first saw this video I knew that I wanted to try it. They looked awesome. Reading all the posts definitely helped get it right. I was surprised how nice mine turned out considering it was my first try. It got better after each one I did...practice makes perfect. I started with the flat clear plastic ornaments and I can tell you that those were definitely easier to work with than the round ball shape ones. Round is much more difficult to reach with a brush to smooth out the wrinkles. The other trick I read was about waiting until the floor polish dried a bit to get just tacky. I had no problems with the fine glitter adhering to inside evenly. Also stayed away from the darker glitter, as mentioned. I did try my first time with regular photo paper laser jet copies...paper much too stiff and would not soak up the polish. Switched to regular laser jet paper copies from Kinko. Perfect!!! Oh and luckily I did buy the correct polish. Thanks for posting such an awesome DYI video. Yours are beautiful. I hope to get it perfect one day.
I wonder if you could share exactly what you used for the 'polish'. What's the difference between what she wants to use as 'polish' and what is sold in stores as GLOSS. I can't find that bottle that she shows in the video. All I find in stores is gloss. I used the Minwax Polycrylic and the glitter bled through. What weight is the paper you got your copies on? Someone said in here somewhere to use 28 weight paper. Any help is appreciated. I don't know if Clutterbug is reading everything posted here. Thanks.
hi would you know why my picture wont stick to the ornament im using exactly what is in the video wipe on poly.. i have a ink jet printer but I copied the picture i want to use.
I responded to a couple of post about the floor wax but I noticed it seems to be a re-occurring question so I thought I would respond. You can use polycrylic. You find it in the painters section at walmart, it will say (Miniwax, water based, polycrylic protective finish, clear glossy). I hope that helps. Now for a question I have......do your pictures tend to turn the color of the glitter you use and if not, how did you do it.
+threespurs They do take on the shade of the glitter, so really dark glitter makes the picture darker, but you can still see it for sure! Thank you for the tip about the poly! That would work great!
In the video the paper looked like regular photo paper because it looked thicker when you rolled it. I am sending the photos over to Walgreens to print them and they will print on photo paper. Suggestion ... Let the photo dry before you put glitter in. Just add more of the floor wax empty excess and then add the glitter. This way if there are air bubble around the edges the glitter will not seep under.

Catherine Molony did you encounter any issues with wrinkles? I can’t seem to keep wrinkles out of the picture!!
I love the red and black together.
These are so unique and turned out beautifully. Thank you for sharing.
I absolutely love these!!! Thank you for sharing!!!💕 God bless you and your creativity!
Might be fun to paint a date on the back as well. Great idea!!
Suggestion ... Let the photo dry before you put glitter in. Just add more of the floor wax empty excess and then add the glitter. This way if there are air bubble around the edges the glitter will not seep under.
I like the red! it's like a little surprise. Great idea.
"Black like my soul!" 🤣🤣
I love these. So cute.... Do you print on regular paper? Also, have you personally tried with the wipe on poly? What was the outcome?
What kind of paper did y’all use? I noticed with regular paper bled out some of the color. I also tried a thicker card stock and it did the same thing. Any recommendations? I’m printing from home
OK I think I figured it out. It didn’t work when I did my inkjet printer, it didn’t work on regular photo paper, it didn’t work on card stock paper. But I had color copies made at Staples and now we’re all good
@@ashleyp143 what bulbs did you use? The links above do not work. :(
Ediza Marenco I got the plastic ones at Joanne’s. Just go to their website and search ‘disc ornament’. I got the 3.3”. They also carry them at micheals.

@@ashleyp143 Thank you!! i tried it on the one disc shape i had but it i couldnt get the glitter to cover like she does. so to Joanne's I go to try these again.
I want to try to make these this year! I know im a bit late, but these are super cute! I just have a few questions. What size photos do you print for these? The glitter you use is it just the flakey glitter? Anout how long till they dry? Thanks!
Love these ornaments. What a great gift idea!

I get such warm mom/aunt vibes i really like this channel and wish it the best.
I LOVE THESE! I also wish I had seen this before I attempted to make the hand print snow man ornaments this year. ( It took me 5 stores to find plain colored ornaments.)
I actually love the Red mixed in and might do a few mixed lol
breath of fresh air, good, informative, fun and REAL tutorial xx
Love it! "Black like my soul", Lol. The black and red looks fabulous though!
Hi. I ended up getting the round full plastic bulbs my picture won’t stay in place
Hack: if you put a light coat of spray clear paint on your printed pictures, then let dry, spray heavy coat, the ink foes not bleed and it worked just like ink jet.
Thanks! I’m going to try this today!
Very nice! I watched the old tutorial that you did, this one is much clearer and I see all the new ornaments
that you have added they are beautiful! Thanks for posting.

me too lol funny
Love this idea. Great for my grandchildren 's pictures.
Is there a substitution for the floor polish? I’ve look everywhere for that and I can’t find it anywhere.
It's usually by the cleaning products at the grocery store. Walmart has it. Amazon does as well.
What else can be used besides floor polish ? I can’t find this particular pledge anywhere . I did find pledge floor gloss? Is it the same
So idk if you can use with a picture but I use polycrylic for the regular ornament and glitter? Idk if that would ruin the pic?
