I can write the music, that's not the issue. I have trouble with mixing. Would be great if you done livestreams mixing one of your tracks for commercials or made a part series about it.
@@JonMeyer Awesome, Jon! I especially get frustrated with piano placements in my mixes. In stereo, the piano often take up most of the midrange, so I scratch my head wondering if I should change the input to mono... It would be great to get your advice on it.
Those were amazing intel for everyone who want to understand the creating process by an entrepreneur view! Thanks a lot for such a relax video full of really useful tips 💪 cheers
Great advice. It’s very helpful to hear you discuss the nuts and bolts of music production. It can be so difficult to talk about art and why something is successful, especially when we as artists have our own tastes and interpretations of what we find to be “good” or “effective.” These tips you are giving are fundamental to the process, and help to build a foundation where the artist can then find expression on top of those pillars.
Good stuff Jon! When I write production lib music, it also helps to listen to other people's approach to the same briefing. While I don't do sound-alikes, it does help me to not go down a dead end street. Nice videos on your channel, for sure :)
Yes, there is such a problem the first 3000 tracks and the first 200 projects (one of my shows is 15 years old and has about 3000 episodes in it) It is always hard to find ways out for yourself and not get hung up on the same solutions. It's only people like you that help inspire and keep yourself in check. My respect to you Jon for everything.
I love all the segment tracks on Gardner's' World. I wish we could get access to that somehow???? thank for sharing this, and everything else you do!!!
Very inspiring! Having spent a lot of time in the recording studio, seeing those like you remind me of all the amazing musicians i worked with on a daily basis... intelligent, creative, well-thought, and very enjoyable, affable individuals. You fit right in! Be well....
Hey Jon, I super enjoy your content, and even more so the “vibe” of your channel. It just feels really good. I have a more of a UA-cam production question if you’re willing to answer it. If not, no worries. It’s simply, “How do you get your V/O audio into your videos? Is there a live mic into your daw while you’re filming and then bring the DAW audio into your video timeline? Or are you recording your V/O audio in camera separately?” I’m just having problems figuring this out. I know it’s a bit off topic, but I’m curious. Thanks either way.
I make this difficult. The mic goes straight into my camera. After I make all of my edits I go through and cut out the sections from my mic channel that fight with the computer audio I capture using screen flow. I'm much faster than I was at the beginning, so not a huge time suck.

Will definitely consider a live mixing session. Thanks!

This.
It's not writing stuff.
It's finishing stuff that is the hard part.
@16:20 “Honey, I really gotta get through this research I been puttin’ off…”
Thank you, this is so helpful! As an aspiring songwriter, this is most encouraging and useful.
So glad!
I've learned so much since I found your channel (yesterday). Great stuff!!

Personally, for me it's the lyric writing that's so bloody difficult. Are you writing lyrics?
Not all that often these days. Mostly instrumental music. I have friends that can write lyrics in a short amount of time, but it takes me forever!
hahahahaha hilarious is this a spoof??

Happy to help!
Really enjoying your content, Jon! I'm in the midst of writing and recording an album and this has been super helpful. Thank you!
I like that dude .
Good discussion, tips and well presented .
Thank you kindly!
Excellent insight into what goes into a production music piece. I would welcome more of this sort of video from you. Thanks Jon - great stuff.
I cant believe there are so few tracks in a piece that feels so full...I usually get stuck adding 20 more tracks than I need to. Very inspiring...
Great videos! Super helpful and realistic - thank you. Subscribed!
I never thought I would hear from anyone to go and sit through TV ads for fun LMAO
But seriously, great video, thank you so much!
Great video. Very informative and insightful. Thanks Jon. #subscribed

This is really exciting advice! Also, I can't wait for all those shirts to drop in your merch store...
This is great. Where would you have this finished music so it might be picked up & used?
Great video ! Keep it up
They also need to be, you know, good.

Some really good tips in here. Thank you. Love that effected piano... Almost sounds like a hammered dulcimer.
Awesome stuff!!!! Lookin forward to seeing you at the conference!!!
Another absolute banger of a video mate 🎉
These are so useful to me Jon. It's a mindset that doesn't come naturally to me but putting myself in the position of the editor really helps.
Glad they are helpful, Jim! I get overwhelmed if I have too many choices. Working through the specific use cases helps me focus.

Excellent video, per usual. Thanks for all that you do Jon!
Another top video Jon - very interesting and informative - Thanks !
Do you make all the music you use in your videos?
Hey y'all great video! Love the way that flute ties it together. Thank you!
Nice and systematic! 🎶👊😎
Nice!
unless at least one of these 1000 tracks is a potential smash hit, the formula probably didn't work😆
I don’t think you understand the context of what type of music he makes
Man, I love you

@@JonMeyer Thanks a bunch. I was looking for a magic bullet. Sometimes we just have to do the work!
