Tiny, expensive, & insanely poseable! It's the 1/24 scale, Governor Warmage Hetzer, from Kotobukiya!

I am always tempted to get a bunch of these guys and one of the mechs and make a fireteam and paint them up all nice.
But like, even ordering straight from Japan that's over a hundred quid, and I can get 4-5 HG Gundams or half a fancy Macross toy for the same amount...
I really like the concept, but it's just way too much money for what feels like build-your-own GI Joe.
Thank you for sharing your review. Interesting looking figures. Ill have to stick to my 28+mm figgys, but its always fun to see other goodies
Cheers Adam! I'm going to miss the articulation and multicolour plastic when I go back to building Warhammer. lol
My uncle has gotten me some of these. They are great fun.
I wouldn’t mind getting one of the mechs in this range to see what those are like.
A very different model kit. Mine are a mor vehicle sort of kit. Nicely reviewed
Thanks so much for checking it out!
Nice review, I had looked at those kits before but glad to see my reservations well right.
Cheers! Yep, I'll look at other Kotobukiya kits in the future, but I'll be steering around Hexa Gear.
Colin Macross Rally
Genius!
These kits are basically G. I. Joe plamo
That's such a good description of them!
@@GrayPrimer And if you have a spare Joe head they may fit very nicely onto these kits.
You should Try Nine ball seraph Kotobukiya kit from the Armored core series. It has no decals or stickers all of the parts are color separated
individually these are lovely kits. but it's when you buy the different weapons, Vec and suits that they really shine. Some amazing crossover options and Almost GI Joe scale if you're into that sort of thing.
I might get a suit in the future, as they look seriously cool.
A bit late, but you should've bought the mech figures, those are the main attraction. These governor figures are the extra you buy if you have the money to burn.
The mechs are mind-blowing!
Yeah, Koto is expensive, but there is also reasons for it. One, being that Bandai is just a much bigger company so the production numbers are higher leading to cheaper costs across the board, and they have an exclusive license to make Gundam so the price is cheaper. Kotobukiya double bakes their plamo, there is rarely instances of color correction needed for them since that is done through parts (more so in recent kits, and twice to parts on average), face parts are usually pre-painted, a part of the cost is the license, and they are actually standard pricing for mecha plamo in their size rating. You can compare prices with Aoishima, Hasegawa, Max Factory, Hobby Japan, and WAVE. Mecha is very expensive and Bandai will spoil totally rotten. Oh, and try out the Zoids HRMM line (they are total projects though), and evoroid if you want some recs. Frame Arms and the mecha musume kits may require a lot more effort since they’re for customizing, and require more skills at the upper midcore levels. Koto has a ton of fun stuff though, kit wise. GSC’s moderoids are also good models for their price
This is fascinating information and really shines light on a lot of stuff I had no idea about! Thanks so much for taking the time to share it here 🙌
I do enjoy #Gunpla. But the lack of universe around these don't do a lot for my interests.
You're gonna love the Real Grade this week!
The big issue with Kotobukiya kits in general is cost. Bandai has larger factories and produces far more copies of its kits compared to Kotobukiya. They keep costs down by also holding the licenses to most of their model kits themselves, instead of focusing on licensing out other brands. That isnt always the case, as Bandai makes licensed kits of things like Star Wars and Pokemon, but their biggest releases are always Gundam and similar anime brands that they hold all the licenses for. While Hexa Gear is entirely Kotobukiya, they also produce a lot of licnesed kits from the likes of Metal Gear, Zoids, Megaman, and so on, that are ultimately far more expensive than a similar quality kit from Bandai.
Thanks for the information! I might check out the Zoids kits - that'd be a blast from the past!
@@GrayPrimer The HMM series of Zoids from Kotobukiya are great! They've got the complexity of a Bandai MG kit. They just tend to lack the structural stability of them from my experiences. Haven't bought one in years, but the earlier ones I've built, while they look amazing and pose really well, they tend to have a lot of parts that can and will fall off if you just look at it the wrong way. When it comes to Kotobukiya Zoids, glue is very much recommended.
While they look nice. I prefer the gundam kits over these figures
Yeah, me too!
