This is quite the gathering of amazing antique machines. The old timers that ran these machines must look at the machinery of today & say "What are they complaining about? That's a NICE machine!" 10:38, I LOVE the sound of that screaming Detroit in that EUC 72-40
Awesome. It’s amazing to see how far along equipment has come. I have modern machines and love them but I would love to run these everyday too. I think it’s safe to say ALL true equipment operators at heart will agree with me that we never grew up, we just got bigger toys. Lol 👍
LOL... they produced thousands of these machines and these are propaply the only ones left, rest is scrapped long time ago.... so that much of their durability.....
@@SchnelleKat Why should they, in 60 years we have something totally different, propaply robotic, or electric machines which overtake these in every way.
I highly doubt in 100 years any construction equipment will run on fossil fuels..but your point is valid new machinery is not built to last...its built fast and as cheap as they are legally allowed to produce them, buy ALL of your big manufacturers...but dam they are nice to run
I am absolutely fascinated not only by watching this machinery work but I love working on it also keeping it running. In watching those shovels work my first thought was what a huge advance the internal combustion engine is over steam for the operator, granted you are still seated next to the entire drive assembly and the engine is directly behind you but things just work so much smoother and the power delivery is so much more consistent! I still have to say I bet at the end of the day those operators were worn out!
This old stuff is the best!! The terex dozer at the end sure is tired but if that was the stuff from today it probably wouldn’t even be running in that many years time.
sure the newer machines are "faster" more "comfortable" and more safe for the operators. but imagine back in the day when thats all there was and those operators were in full production mode. must have been a hell of a work out
They just don't build machines like this anymore. Wonder how many of the modern, computerised, gps guided scrap will still be working in 60, 70 or 80 year's time ?
Are there any more footage of the small pull scraper at the start of this video ? I curious how the mechanical lower raise & dump worked from one hydraulic valve
A lot use the ground drive from the rear wheels to flip the bucket over , some simple ones are almost round and roll themselves , depending on the soil conditions they can be very efficient ..
Three sections of the scraper bowl, the cylinders move the center cutter section. The front section that holds the dirt in the bowl opens by the rollers that ride on a track on top of the hydraulic cylinder as the cutter edge lowers to ground level. The rear section opens by cable as the whole bowl is raised higher. This will give you a better view of the hydraulic cylinder and pivots, but the cable is not in place: lacrosse.craigslist.org/hvo/d/de-soto-pull-behind-scraper/7242608041.html
A tumblebug would have no wheels. This has no ground drive from the wheels, only one two way hydraulic circuit, which was quite advanced in the 30's when this was designed. Most crawlers would have no hydraulics, only a cable control. GarWood model 25.
I live in ND and in the mid part of the state we have a few coal mines and they have two of the largest draglines in the world working there to remove overburden! You can nee those machines 30 miles away!

Awesome footage, good to see such cool, old machinery in great shape, being enjoyed. Cheers from Massachusetts.
Had a Lorain loader with an 8v71 and a Terex loader with a 6-71. Good vid ! Thanks.
Nice .I love this stuff, good to bring my memory of this ol pices of equipment, kool thanks BigAl California
It’s all fake though
Hey, thanks for uploading i really enjoy this type of video. Probably explains why i own so much of this old equipment. Lol
Back then things were made to last. I doubt you will see the machines of today running in 100 years time.
Most made within the last 10-15 yrs won't even last 60 yrs!
LOL... they produced thousands of these machines and these are propaply the only ones left, rest is scrapped long time ago.... so that much of their durability.....

It looks like a giant sand box to play with your toys.
Love the early excavators that veered off from the steam shovel design. Meanwhile the old shovels just got larger and larger.
What a Cool event an equipment. Wish i could go to this. Man i bet it wore u out to run some of those ol monsters!!!!!. Make u appreciate modern stuff

What a wonderful place they have some great operating plant.
Love it 👍
Bloody awesome, and I'm really glad I no longer operate dinosaurs like that. Lol.

They're all awesome.

Great Share... Thanks Respect Channel "MrYboss".
Cool thanks
The time when build quality was the way. All we have now is disposable plastic money pits for the most part predominantly in auto industry.

6.00 Andrew Camara loader😃👍
Hello. How does the door/flap stay closed on the face shovel bucket? Best regards.
There's a catch that engages, when it's angled enough to slam closed, by gravity. To open it, a cable is pulled, by hand, to release the catch.
They just don't build machines like this anymore. Wonder how many of the modern, computerised, gps guided scrap will still be working in 60, 70 or 80 year's time ?
Old is gold
Green loader with no cage......that’s brave
