You can link from calendar to reminders or notes etc (and this method works on iPhone too) by clicking into title of calendar entry (you may need to use the edit function) and highlighting whole title, then tap again to bring up cut/copy/paste menu - then tap the arrow on the rhs to bring up share, tap share and you can get the link into wherever you would like it to go.

Same here. ipad has become my main laptop/computer for the past year and I continue to fall in love with the experience more and more even started fully embracing the apple pencil 2.
I haven’t tried it yet but this sounds like links to email instead of the email itself inside Notes indicates that it’s not compatible with inbox-zero. Seems like if you delete or move the email, the link isn’t going to work…so the email has to stay in Inbox forever.
I am unable to drag and drop my apple note into Reminders on my Mac. Am I doing something wrong? I was able to drop and drop my email into Reminders on my Mac but not a apple note.
Carl, I noticed today that you can’t transfer an email THREAD into Notes. If you want to transfer a number of related emails, you have to transfer each individually. This can be a pain if there are several emails you want transferred at the same time.
Hi Carl, I am loving your videos on the Apple System. Thank you! I notice that on both Reminders and Notes, when you select an item a toolbar comes up at the bottom of your screen and you can select tags, flags, etc. I don't have this on my iPad Pro running iOS 15.3.1 and I can't find how to get it to show up. Am I missing something?
It shows up when you are editing a task. If it does show then, I'm not sure what the problem is. Often the best thing to do is to quit the app, shut down, then restart. That usually clears any bugs.
Help please: Working on MacBook (not iPad) > dropped and email in a reminder. When I click on the 'email link' it opens the email .........but I can't find the conversation/thread ---------- it opens the conversation/thread on the iPad,,,, but not on desktop... any ideas on how to view the conversation/thread on the desktop?
@@Carl_Pullein My old notes which I had put in reminders using the link work just fine. Linking a new note is the challenge for me since the link doesn't seem to come up. I guess this will be fixed (at least on my end) in the next IOS update.
Many of us old folks miss the palm OS dearly, the predecessor to smart phones. That may be what people are asking about that you kinda didn’t describe. It had a few cool features, if you named a person, or phone number in a call note, a task, map (address), or a calendar, you could see all related items. So if you took regular call notes, and three months later a person called you back about an order or whatever, you could click links and see ALL calls, appointments, notes or whatever that matched that contacts info. It wasn’t perfect, if you had say a dozen contacts at Microsoft, and had their main 800 number on each contact, they all got linked together with each other, all calls, all notes, all appointments. I for one would LOVE to see this feature!
Sadly, Apple seems to have neglected Contacts over the years. I guess it’s because of smart contacts. Type a person’s name or the start of an email address, and the system will automatically complete it for you.
Linking of notes/emails into reminders is an epic tip! The link even displays and works back on desktop in MacOS. But I can't seem to create a link like that while on in MacOS in the same way, is that correct? Would be too bad if I had to run for my iPad every time I wanted to create one of those links. :/ EDIT: Never mind, I found it. Instead of dragging the email from the list (as you do in iOS), in MacOS you drag from the email itself (in the viewer pane).
Carl, now that we’ve figured out Calendar sharing with other other Apple apps (i.e., Reminders), can you share any interesting ideas because I feel that if it’s on my calendar somewhere it tends to get done (even if calendars are technically for events and not tasks)?
Hi Dev, I don't ever recommend adding tasks to a calendar, ever. It creates duplication and adds unnecessary complexity to your system. Either use Reminders for tasks and your calendar for events or use only your calendar for both events and tasks. But don't duplicate.
For whatever reason, I wasn’t able to move an email as easily from Gmail to my notes and reminders. I had to literally copy/paste the email to m notes and reminders. Opting the link from notes did work.
You are talking about the native mail app and gmail service, which are two different things. You can use Gmail off the native mail app, which I think these features will still work
You should be able to link reminders to calendar events because about 95% of the time I have items that need to be done that are associated with that event. I can’t be the only one who works like this. It really boggles the mind that the excuse given is duplication which is more specific than the use case I describe.
Hi Jamie, you can drag and drop a reminder into the notes section of the event if you have a task associated with the event. It's not a direct link, it will just copy the task, but it is possible. But the "duplication" thing is not an excuse. It's real and is causes so much overwhelm that no company I know of does it. It's been tried, tested ad-nausium.
Apple is such a tease. Giving us the ability to drag and drop notes to create pretty links, but not within notes. Why Apple, why? Just let us link notes this easily!
Hi David, there will be a way and I am currently looking into it. Most of these features have been optimised for the iPad because Apple sees the iPad as a productivity device. Once I find the way to do it on the iPhone, I will of course do a video on it.
CLICK!!! Light come on, finally.... `Share > Copy Link' on a note to get a link to put in another note to hyperlink two notes. While I'm a tagger and tags can relate many to one, they sure don't do well with one to one. Now Apple needs to fix tags so they suggest while typing which would make them work so much better....

I really like Apple reminders and use it all the time but I’ve noticed that when you start to really use Apple reminders with all the functions that they allow like Geo tagging uploading pictures and documents and reminders for time-based locations that the watch only has so much storage and you can really clog it up and I’ve had to stop using Apple reminders and using the iCloud sync because there’s no way to delete the Apple Reminders app on the Apple Watch. I wish there was a fix where you could only select certain groups that you wanted synced to the Apple Watch allowing you to keep the iCloud sync but since Apple doesn’t allow you to delete the Apple Reminders app I had to break the syncing functionality and it’s really frustrating please Apple fix this. Carl, thanks for this video. Very helpful. What happens to the email link in Notes and Reminders if you later delete the email from the Mail app?
You can even print an email to notes. Then instead of having a link you have an actual pdf in the note. The pdf is downloadable. It pretty cool.

I agree, Sten. I wish Apple would do something with Contacts. It's not been touched for years.

Hi Terry, you can move the email anywhere. I suspect it will break the link if you delete it completely, though.
I’m running iPad OS 16.5.1 on an early iPad Pro but I have no “Copy Link” option on the share facility. Do you have any idea as how to get it?

Yes, you can, Mark. Open the files app in split view on your iPad and drag the file you want onto the task in Reminders.
