Thank you for sharing this, as a mature woman paraplegic in New Zealand who has had to fight since childhood I can well relate to the challenges you encounter. I was taught by my dad from the time of my injury. If you can't do it one way find another way, don't give up and don't give in. I live this way every day, even when it all feels too much, when I'm exhausted mentally and physically I keep in mind those that say I can't....well I can on my terms in my own way. I advocate for myself and my peers, because we count we matter and besides I'm too stubborn to give up or give in, life is an adventure and I get a real kick (figuratively) at exceeding expectations and doing it my way.
Thank you for sharing! Your post is very encouraging and I hope whoever reads it will be inspired by your words. Would you be interested in telling your story in a taped interview?
