    Great to see you again. I always enjoy your reviews - whether of campgrounds, food, or equipment, they are always succinct yet cover all the important points. I love the vast difference between Dinosaur and Pacific Rim - each with their own history and natural beauty. I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of Miki's mom, that is always such a tough time to get through. Finch looks pretty comfy on that cat tree, maybe you should install one in the van 😅 Wishing you all a happy, healthy 2025, and looking forward to more hike n' , rv 'n, camping n' - and all the other n' adventures! (Love the shirts)

    Miki, sorry for your loss. Our favorites are the Prinvelle Reservoir in Oregon, Mule Deer and the county park on Shaw Island. Our new favorite is the campground at Hovenweep National Monument, near Cortez, Colorado. We wanted to like Dinosaur but the mosquitoes were unbearable and West Nile is there too. Really like Writing on Stone also. Happy New Year. Nancy

    Happy New Year! A great list of campsites! Our trailer was in for warranty work much of the summer but one spot we went tent camping to was We-Wai-Kai at Rebecca Spit! A beautiful spot with a mixture of campsite types, some on bay, some facing the strait, and some in the forest. A lovely first time experiences. Sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in February and empathize with you on how tough it is. All the best in 2025.

      Thank you! For some reason we thought of you (actually more the WPG part) yesterday…on a hike in the Gulf islands (see our UA-cam community page): it was warm and even some flowers. Someone on the hike noted that it was likely much warmer than in WPG, though these days with crazy weather who knows.

    Last year I found your channel, and I'm sure I've watched all the episodes. Very enjoyable. I don't own an RV, but after seeing your trip to Dinosaur Park, I rented a small RV and retraced the Alberta part of your trip. We thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks for the inspiration. After 5 days down south, we then headed up the Alaska hwy to mile 300. Had to head home unfortunately, we only had a 3 week rental.

    It’s always great to hear your thoughts on the parks you visit and to know what makes the top 5. My favourite park of all time is in Ontario (but hey, that’s where I live), Killarney Provincial Park, closest city Sudbury. We vacationed in Haida Gwaii in September and stayed in 2 parks, both amazing. Naikoon Provincial Park was spectacular with a beach site. It was the most memorable campsite of my 50+ years of camping. The municipal campground at Daajin Giids was in a majestic setting of trees, a short walk to the ocean. So different from Ontario! We’re headed to the Sunshine Coast in May with our eye on Porpoise Bay PP. Thanks for your insights!

      @hikenrv  15 днів тому +1

      @ Haida Gwaii is wonderful..some of our friends love it there! And if we ever get to Ontario we now have something to add to the list! We consider Porpoise Bay often, but have yet to manage to make it.

      @ Killarney offers a diversity of some of the most beautiful landscapes in Canada. Protected following efforts by members of the Group of Seven who painted there. Bordered by Georgian Bay, it has so much to offer. It’s a hard park to get into so make your reservations with competition in mind. Finger ready to reserve 7 am EST, 5 months ahead. Don’t miss the famous Herbert Fisheries in town for world class fresh fish and chips.

    Hey! Nice to see you back. My favourite campground(s) are just about anything north of Smithers/Prince George. Unfortunately age and health seem to be conspiring to keep us on the Island going forward. I've had to deal with cancer, seems to be slowed up right now but the treatments take the zoom zoom right our of you, so no road trips for now. Don't let me be a drag, #1 it is not the stage 4 you are going to die type, it is the do something about this so you won't die type. #2 way too many in the hospitals and clinics that are far worse off than me. Besides, being relegated to Vancouver Island isn't really all that bad, right?

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  15 днів тому

      Agree on almost anything north of PG…and usually not too busy compared to the south part of BC. So many great spots though on the island and the northern areas tend to stay a little cooler in summer (if close to coast) which can be nice. Sorry to hear about the cancer..get the treatments and get better. We will send some positive thoughts your way! Always appreciate your advice.

    May 2025 be a happier year for you! A couple of our favourite campgrounds (we have a campervan) are: Ralph River in Strathcona Park; Lightning L (Manning park). Thanks to friends, we discovered a quiet little campground on the water on Quadra Island this past year: Tsa-Kwa-Luten. We’re going back in 2025.

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  15 днів тому

      @@MrSpaceace1999 price of camping has certainly increased and has demand…northern BC tends to offer less crowds and more rustic camping options …so better pricing if an option and of course there are rec sites or off-season can help too. Campsites that have power or full hook ups are expensive as well of course.
