Girl, you literally spoke the exact words I say about my own hair when trying to let my natural dark blonde grow out. It looks dirty and I only feel fresh and bright when my roots are light blonde.
Hi Basset Girl…I know it, I feel like you have to have a slightly darker natural blonde root to understand. I totally wish I loved my natural dark blonde, but I just don’t…so the light roots is my favorite. Thank you so much for watching, and I love that I’m not alone :)
I've been box dying my hair blonde for 40 years and wish I'd known about toners, especially when it seems the formula is so much different than it used to be. I finally decided to use box bleach when my hair seemed to have too much orange at the roots and blue shampoo just dulled it. I have low porosity hair and discovered after the fact that 45 minutes just wasn't long enough. I have lvl 8-9 on the roots and 9-10 on the mids/ends. I used T28 toner and love it. However, I think the root area is still just a little too brassy and had already decided to mix T28/T18 next time I tone. I wish I'd run into your video before I did this ( about 10 days ago!). BTW, nice to run into another blonde girl who doesn't want platinum and actually likes a little gold in her hair!
@@brookeholmes9223 good luck! Just do your roots to start, and it might look orange when it’s wet, then blow dry and it’s not bad. Toner will help get the brass out and if all goes wrong, I just go see my hair stylist 😊 it might take a few tries, but you can do it!
I highlight my own hair. I have a fair amt of grey, and i find to blonde bleach grey hair is very difficult and it takes a medium level developer and extra time (until the tacked up strands are almost white in color) ie 50 minutes to cure before the results are pale (not white) blonde, otherwise I get brassy yellow, very annoying. but the results are very nice!!
I'm trying it! I'm nervous. Do you pore the entire bottle of both the T18 & T24 and mix with the 20 Developer? Or, do you use a portion of some and a full bottle of another? Thank you
Love this video! You’re so sweet. Your hair is beautiful. I just did my dark blonde roots after letting them grow out for 3 months! Ugh 😩. Now I feel so much better too. Nothing like fresh blonde roots.❤️
Yesss! Coloring my roots is like the best day ever!!! I tried so hard one time to let them grow out, and I couldn’t do it! I just love the blonde roots too :)
Burnette here, and yes, I get some orange/brassy tones during the summer and when I use too much heat for a period of time, so to the salon I go... but enjoyed the video.
Hi Mia, wow thank you so much for sharing that. I do notice that after too much flat ironing I feel like it starts to get brassy as well. I think your right, it must be too much heat. Thanks for watching 😊
I use L'Oreal 10NB at home and my words turned Orange. My hair is already blonde from doing it prior. I always use the same color so I only have to do my roots when I do it. What can I us? It's not bad. But I still wanted to match exactly like the rest of my hair
I am so glad that I watched this until the end before going out and spending money on toner. To me it looks still so crazy brassy and a rainbow of shades. This is what I have been trying to solve as well but it looks like the toners don't do much at all of a difference. Thank you for saving me time and money.
I think she waited a little long to do the roots. My natural is a dark blonde and I color every 2-4 weeks on a tiny bit of regrowth it lightens without a toner and no banding! Hope this helps
Thanks for sharing! I will try to do the same with my hair. I am a natural brunette but my hair is dyed blonde and my roots always get orange so I want to try the Garnier one and those Wella toners. Do you think it would work on dark brown natural root hair? and I didn't understand the difference between T14, T18? and what is the proportion of toner you use? Thanks ❤
Hi, I always mix equal parts of toner, to equal parts of 20 volume developer. So if I use 1 ounce of toner, I add one ounce of developer. Equal parts. I hope that helps 😊
When you bleach your hair and it comes out yellow or orange you use a 20 developer with the toners to remove that yellow or orange and the 20 developer will make it lighter
My hair seems to be about the same natural shade as yours. I just used the Clairol Blonde it Up. The result wasn't bad for a no bleach product but it was a little on the brassy side. Are your results consistent every time with this product?
Hi Sarah, it's funny that you say that because the first time I tried to do it myself, years ago, I did it the day before I had a hair appointment. This way if I totally messed up, she could fix it for me :) And it worked great, and my hair dresser said I did my roots great, so at that appointment I didn't have to pay for her to do my roots, she just touched up my highlights. And I have been doing it ever since. Thanks for asking, I need to do a few more, because they said the results are after 4 treatments. But I just healed from doing a new laser, and that will go up next week. :) Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it.
@@SunLuxSkincare That's awesome! It really turned out great. I'll be having my first Morpheus8 treatment in about a week. Looking forward to hearing about the laser!
T18 is for level 10 hair (platinum shades) and T14 is for a lighter blonde (level8-9). Mixing the two toners gives a dimension to your hair. Hope this helps :)
Hi Amy, when I do this it is just to help me go longer without seeing my hair dresser. Eventually there is too much brass and I have to go get highlights and low lights done. If it’s too brassy it might be time to see your hairdresser. This process I only do for my roots, so after a few times, there is too much gold because my hair has grown out. I would talk to your hairdresser.
Hi Amy, I myself don’t mess with bleach. And when my hair dresser does my highlights, she uses bleach. So I do not want to learn to do highlights. I only color my roots. In this video I am not showing a full length coloring. Toner does help with the brassy color, but it doesn’t remove it completely. I am only doing my roots, and there is still some brass when I’m done, but it’s not bad. So it allows me to go a few more weeks before I go see my hair dresser.
Your natural hair roots don't look as dark blonde it looks dark brown on camera, and result after color doesn't look orange roots, look light brown or dark blonde.

I have the same mousy brown as you and I bought hair dye and you inspired me to get some toner! Wish me luck!

Did you ever get an answer on this? I have no clue how much to use

What colour box dye did you have on your hair before you coloured it ? That is the colour that I want. Thank you

Do you mix the entire contents of the developer and both toners? Thx!

Sorry I have a question how do you make the other part of your hair? Do you bleach it?
Can you please tell me how mix two colors to get a NYC grey blonde look
Box dyes are so expensive now. It might be much less expensive to just to use some bleach on the roots and then tone with the wella. ❤
SO PERFECT.. THANK YOU VERY VERY!!!!!
Do you have any white hairs? Does this cover them?
I came from your morpheus video to see if you had any changes and yes you look amazing... it convinced me...
Hi Gal, Aw thank you so much. I probably need to do a few more of the Morpheus treatments, I’m just a little scared. 😊
I would stay away from the Morpheus, as it can actually cause sagging and aging by overheating the fat layers under the skin.

Hi Paula, I think I show my measurements in the end of the video. I believe I will go back and check for you. :)
Excelente thank you
How much do you mix together of everything on the bowl? I have all of the supplies but no idea how much to mix. I have the big bottle of the 20
Hi, I always mix equal parts of toner, to equal parts of 20 volume developer. So if I use 1 ounce of toner, I add one ounce of developer. Equal parts. I hope that helps 😊
Que número de colores se puso?
Why and when do you use the 20 developer, and what color do you use on the rest of your hair, please
When you bleach your hair and it comes out yellow or orange you use a 20 developer with the toners to remove that yellow or orange and the 20 developer will make it lighter
You can use 20 developer with bleach if your hair is light or damaged to begin with. 20 also works with toners.
I didn't see yoy you to put wella toner with the hair dye i miss understand
Thank you

It looks dark and yellow just bleach or lighten with high lifter nutrisse is not great
Toner doesn’t pull out color… it deposits. Most recommend 10 volume. Putting 20 v twice in a row directly on your scalp in front first… hmmm
You showed the box so fast and did not mention what number of the box.
Stay away from box color of any kind! I’m a licensed cosmetologist.
I am on Social Security it costs 200 dollars to get my hair done professionally.... can you suggest anything I could do at home
Also I don't see any changes here 🤣
Most annoying song ever.
Thats a bloody riot your hair didnt get fixed still brassy still orange, point of this video ??
