It's always the people who say they has the bravery to do something, who will run. And if you didn't understand correctly, titans are very very strong beings, stronger than humans. You'll not fight them recklessly and die for nothing, if you are not an idiot. And you have to not be very sane in your mind, to not fear them. You'll see later in the anime. But for simple humans like us, titans are just very very difficult to kill. Just for one titan, you have to fight with at least four mens with the manoeuver gear that can make them fly. If you don't have a gear and only a sword, you'll die.

animes also have a manga (which is basically a book) where you can also understand more explained everything, you don't need to see it, but in the manga it sometimes includes a lot of things that aren't in the anime, some animes even completely change everything that came in the manga. so once you finish this anime, it would be incredible if you read the manga of this anime. as i said, it's not necessary but you'll understand some things better. i also hope that later you will see the "ova’s" of this anime, which is basically like a section that helps you learn more about the stories of other important characters but you need to see it later because you're just getting started and not even half of the characters have come out yet.
