The first person you feed on in Ultimate Spiderman being the kid holding a red balloon has to be a callback/jab at Spiderman 2. Alot of people hated those missions where you had to save the kids balloon in 2 so that was the first person you eat in Ultimate 🤣🤣🤣

Big surprise, people age and most people aren't perfect looking models. The downside to media always portraying fictional characters as always exceptionally beautiful is that it creates false expectations for people in the real world. No everyone has the privilege of being beautiful and all humans have imperfections. And they tend to gain more as they age. We should be taught that these imperfections are normal, because they are normal in our world. It would decrease a lot of people's self loathing and make people less superficial.

I wont even play this one cause it looks just as boring as the last one. The web swinging is all an illusion. The swinging in the last one (and by the looks it carries over to this one) only looked cool when you when you play exactly how the game wants you to play. Once you deviate from Insomniacs path the cracks start showing through.
I"m just glad this game didn't also get released on PC yet because I would've of pre-ordered the game and be disappointed. I know this comment is from 5 months ago, but there are some things that really confuse me about people complaining about "woke identity politics" in this game. Firstly, the game takes place in New York City. If it didn't have "woke" stuff, it would be very strange. Secondly, Spider-Man is and always has been one of the most progressive superheros ever. For all the defaults the game have, especially the lack of good writing during dialogues, what they have done to Peter, the way they show him so weak physically and mentally to Miles, to the point that they don't even understand the "with great powers comes great responsibility" part, is the biggest insult to Spider-Man. They could have done very easily a differently but no they didn't because to them, having Miles replacing Peter is the most important point... F... them.

Couldn't agree more. I haven't even been able to finish the game because it has constantly reminded me of modern woke politics and it took me out of the experience every time. I haven't even gone back to it because of this. Also, I've been suspecting ever since SM Miles Morales that they want to replace Peter and from what I've heard about the ending, that is what they want to do.

I fucking busted out laughing about the dreads part. like bruh why can't they give these dudes a nice fade with some with some normal hair on top. But I've been watching playthrough of this game and u pretty much caught everything that I had problems with it.
it's just annoying that the character models look bad. and i am not talking about looks. the models themselves look so rough i could barely look at them. at the old game i loved looking at every character because they looked crisppp.
Honestly I’m so glad u mentioned the combat man cuz this was what I been saying I was really disappointed cuz not enough was added. you can’t bloody double/ triple finish enemies or even dodge 2 enemies at the same time, Lack of button combination is what killed this game, it’s the same spam one button. You’d think Peter who’s been spidey for almost a decade will be more than one dimensional on how he fights. Heck even the damn black suit there’s no damn difference to how Peter fights or dodges, it’s the same animations…. apart from rage mode but outside of that, ur playing the same way. Now the swinging, besides the loop de loop/ corner tether and slingshot. There’s still very lack of variation. Cons- You can’t slingshot up while running on wall, you can’t grid while swinging. Can’t grind on surfaces while parkour BUT YOU CAN SURF ON THE WATER??? Can’t manually double hand web zip/ there’s no creative ways to pull yourself upwards to start swinging (just slingshot or point launch) no web tunnels thru shops/ windows/ helicopters. All of those things were missing and it was what I really disappointed about, that’s why the game didn’t blow me away and didn’t deserve game of the year
Feels like they also sacrificed an actual evolution and improvement in web swinging by just making it faster and adding a wingsuit.. MSM1 was more or less going in a relatively grounded direction in the way it's swinging felt, not grounded maybe but more tangible or immersive, they could develop that but instead everything is just fast and toyish..

woah, woah, woah! we not just gonna gloss over tasm 1 movie game that game is a hidden gem, and has a far better story than the actual movie itself. it's also an epilogue to the first film as well. i personally feel that the marvel characters overall was done better with activision's treyarch - (raimi spider-man trilogy movie games & web of shadows), raven software - (the creator's of X-Men legends and ultimate alliance) & bee nox - (tasm 1 & 2, shattered dimensions and edge of time.) Treyarch - Ultimate Spider-Man console versions (GCN, PS2, Xbox) & bee-nox - (pc version), while Vicarious Visions - (GBA, DS) ports. i just find Insomniac's spider-man the writing of the story and interactions cringy and forced it never feels natural and the voice acting and the dialogue is painfully avenge, but seeing awful takes by calling their version the best spider man out of them, is really eye rolling, bcuz they're literally activitely changing characters from the source material. the mary jane stealth missions she literally become mary sue. in fact even the side missions also heavily focus on this just a feminist and woke ideology being push this agenda into the players. again it never feels natural even in the first game also in miles game where they've put black lives matter in the game. I may be the first one to say this but marvels Spider-Man 2 has really died out since release man. Feels like this game went 2 steps back compared to the first game. Swinging/ combat wise they taken stuffs out which angered me and also they didn’t go beyond in that aspect. The game has been out for 7 MONTHS….. and still no dlc and ppl wonder why the game is dying. I got bored of this game cuz it didn’t have that replay value like it did the first gam. I brought the preorder deluxe spider man 2 right quick. I did it as if on autopilot because I'm a huge spider man, even at age 44. I'm Hispanic and hate miles morales ever since his first comic appearance. His origins was almost exactly the same as Petey. Nothing popped about his character in the comics. The two movies sucked into the spider verse and whatever the other one was called. I read his fights against other characters, e.g. when he fought old man logan. The whole fight was wack and tired. And just a nod to all the times OG spider man fought wolverine. I was really excited for the fight between miles and old man wolverine, but boy oh boy it just sucked. The downside to media always portraying fictional characters as always exceptionally beautiful is that it creates false expectations for people in the real world. No everyone has the privilege of being beautiful and all humans have imperfections. And they tend to gain more as they age.
We should be taught that these imperfections are normal, because they are normal in our world. It would decrease a lot of people's self loathing and make people less superficial.

I know this comment is from 5 months ago, but there are some things that really confuse me about people complaining about "woke identity politics" in this game. Firstly, the game takes place in New York City. If it didn't have "woke" stuff, it would be very strange. Secondly, Spider-Man is and always has been one of the most progressive superheros ever. They could have done very easily a differently but no they didn't because to them, having Miles replacing Peter is the most important point... F... them.

Honestly I’m so glad u mentioned the combat man cuz this was what I been saying I was really disappointed cuz not enough was added. you can’t bloody double/ triple finish enemies or even dodge 2 enemies at the same time, Lack of button combination is what killed this game, it’s the same spam one button. You’d think Peter who’s been spidey for almost a decade will be more than one dimensional on how he fights. Heck even the damn black suit there’s no damn difference to how Peter fights or dodges, it’s the same animations…. apart from rage mode but outside of that, ur playing the same way.
Now the swinging, besides the loop de loop/ corner tether and slingshot. There’s still very lack of variation.
Cons- You can’t slingshot up while running on wall, you can’t grid while swinging. Can’t grind on surfaces while parkour BUT YOU CAN SURF ON THE WATER??? Can’t manually double hand web zip/ there’s no creative ways to pull yourself upwards to start swinging (just slingshot or point launch) no web tunnels thru shops/ windows/ helicopters. All of those things were missing and it was what I really disappointed about, that’s why the game didn’t blow me away and didn’t deserve game of the year

MSM1 was more or less going in a relatively grounded direction in the way it's swinging felt, not grounded maybe but more tangible or immersive, they could develop that but instead everything is just fast and toyish..

woah, woah, woah! we not just gonna gloss over tasm 1 movie game that game is a hidden gem, and has a far better story than the actual movie itself. it's also an epilogue to the first film as well.
i personally feel that the marvel characters overall was done better with activision's treyarch - (raimi spider-man trilogy movie games & web of shadows), raven software - (the creator's of X-Men legends and ultimate alliance) & bee nox - (tasm 1 & 2, shattered dimensions and edge of time.) Treyarch - Ultimate Spider-Man console versions (GCN, PS2, Xbox) & bee-nox - (pc version), while Vicarious Visions - (GBA, DS) ports.
i just find Insomniac's spider-man the writing of the story and interactions cringy and forced it never feels natural and the voice acting and the dialogue is painfully avenge, but seeing awful takes by calling their version the best spider man out of them, is really eye rolling, bcuz they're literally activitely changing characters from the source material. the mary jane stealth missions she literally become mary sue. in fact even the side missions also heavily focus on this just a feminist and woke ideology being push this agenda into the players. again it never feels natural even in the first game also in miles game where they've put black lives matter in the game. LOL we play video games for escapism not to be preach too, but now this is being pushed through all of entertainment media. it's already bad enough there's trying to remove physical media too give the publishers and movie studios like DC and marvel more sense of control, power over the players and their audience so they can remove the game that u have purchase on the fly whenever they want like rockstar has previously done. Insomniac spider man is just an interactive movie, even the web swinging holds ur hand. back in the day it took skill to master, now it's just an illusion that makes u feel like u have some kind of control. i also remember when ppl complain about QTE's in spider man 3 but QTE's is littered throughout all of Insomniac's Spider man games, so those complaints from back in the day has not age well bcuz it's much more of a prominent role now in spider man games, then it had, back then.
nope the map feature goes as far back as spider man 2 movie game on ps2 (June 29, 2004), which came out a year before Ultimate Spider-Man - (September 22, 2005) ehh i like the lizard design in tasm 1 game.

I may be the first one to say this but marvels Spider-Man 2 has really died out since release man. Feels like this game went 2 steps back compared to the first game. Swinging/ combat wise they taken stuffs out which angered me and also they didn’t go beyond in that aspect. The game has been out for 7 MONTHS….. and still no dlc and ppl wonder why the game is dying. I got bored of this game cuz it didn’t have that replay value like it did the first gam. Also another reason why this game is dead is cuz the symbiote plays the exact same way as the other regular suits (apart from surge) but outside of that it’s the same combat/ dodge/ swing animations and the finishers… you can’t even morph into the symbiote in the game🤦🏾♂️ it don’t feel different when wearing it cuz it doesn’t play different. Insomniac really let me down
