That’s a big excavator but that’s even a bigger truck…10 buckets to fill is quite a bit in the mining industry…ideally 3-5 passes is the goal!..great video!..
That dusty environment must load the air filters and cooling systems up pretty fast! I know they have centrifugal cyclone air pre-filters; I don’t know about the various radiators those machines have.
Usually only sold if a mine is closed. Otherwise they get run until major parts are wearing out. This size can be transported, bigger machines aren't worth moving if they need new pumps and cylinders on a 40 year old machine.
I suppose when a bigger machine is worn out it's moved to a unused part of the mine & stripped for parts to keep similar machines operational then what's left is cut up for scrap value or buried in the spoils dumping area.

@PAmining Another excellent video, thanks for posting it. I’m curious to know your opinion on the Unit Rig MT-4400.I’ve heard people suggest that it’s about as bulletproof as you can get, in a haul truck. I’d be interested to know how it compares to the legendary 793 CAT haul trucks. Also if you happened to speak with any mine owners/operators about their preference in the 240 ton truck class.I like to get your take on those kind of questions, since you’re actually in the industry. I know I’ll be getting solid information that I can have confidence in.TAKE CARE.
Yes, the Unit Rig MTs are a well engineered bullet proof truck. They are a totally different rig compared to the Cat. The 793 is mechanical drive, the MT4400 is electric drive, so there's pros and cons to the different drive trains but a lot of it depends on the application. The only negative aspect I can think of is the 16V MTU engine option for the 4400s was very expensive to rebuild/replace. Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks!
Is this about the same size as a Hitachi 1900? One place I worked at in Boonville Indiana had a 1900 shovel and would sometimes have to load a EH 3500 truck and it would take quite awhile, back when I smoked cigarettes and was running a Komatsu 785 in the same run as the 3500 truck I could smoke a cigarette slowly and would still be waiting a good bit until it was time to back up and get loaded.

looks like they enjoy digging with the back end as much as the front !
Didn't know you can see the counterweight?
@@PAmining i can see how much the sides near the back are smashed in you cant tell me the counter weight is like new?
Thanks for posting. I really enjoy the older machines. Keep up the good work!
Your welcome buddy!

Another great video Justin...are these machines ever sold when they are retired or just scrapped?
Usually only sold if a mine is closed. Otherwise they get run until major parts are wearing out.

What's it loading? Asbestos? This is very finely divided and dry material.
NOBODY mines asbestos anymore, unless you love having cancer.
BIG stuff until you look at the size of the guys running them. Thanks andGod Bless Yall
Wow lots of cosmetic damage
It happens, it's mining
Hallo old equipment channel 😂

Nah, not when it's only a backup machine
