I grew up in the late 80s early 90s so was very Nickelodeon based, Hey Arnold, Doug, Rugrats ect, I did enjoy The Raccoons and the theme and end song to that have a particular warm nostalgia.

Ahh, Nickelodeon nostalgia! Those are great choices and that leads me to all those programmes that I loved on that channel that weren't cartoon but still so good, like Sister Sister. So true about The Raccoons - love it!

Very interesting topic😎, but also a little complicated (sorry, this is going to be a loooong comment😏):
This all came at a time when I didn't watch a lot of television as a child and then as a teenager. Nevertheless, I know a couple of the series you are presenting. What I don't know in Germany are such young presenters who sing along to the title songs. It may be that there was something like that e.g. in TV Christmas specials (=> "Wir warten auf das Christkind"), but I don't really know that.
Most of the theme music was brought to us in our own German versions, which were at least based on the original melodies and were mostly translated pretty much accurate into the German lyrics. For example, "Dogtanian (...)", over here called => "D'Artagnan und die 3 MuskeTiere" (please notice instead of Musketeers - in German "Musketier" - the separate word "Tier", translated => animals😄). I remember a little about this series and the music, but I only watched it very rarely.
I can also hardly remember "Ulysses 31" => "Odysseus 31", but now I do remember that this series was also on our TV, also with German-language lyrics to the original melody.
What I didn't know until now was "The Mysterious Cities of Gold" => "Die geheimnisvollen Städte des Goldes". At the time, this series was only shown in East Germany (GDR). It was only after reunification that it was shown on TV for all Germans, but then it completely passed me by. Here too, the title song was translated into German (I just did a quick search online). But when I now just heard the original title song here, I have to say that I really like it! I definitely have to look for it...😃🎶
The series "Around The World With Willy Fog" => "Um die Welt mit Willy Fog" is really a rare exception to the theme music: The English-language version was actually used here in Germany😯, which was extremely unusual at that time! However, I never really watched this series...
Unfortunately I can't say anything about Thundercats; I've had virtually no contact with this series until today.🙄
I know of course He-Man and She-Ra from my early youth, and certainly the action figures, but both of them were somehow never really my thing, so I didn't have any action figures of them myself (interestingly, no action figures at all, regardless of the character, whether Batman, GI Joe or whoever).
We had other famous comic series with theme songs that were very “important” for us Germans and that I grew up with, some of them from the late 70s - by the way, in principle all from Japanese drawing studios:
On the one hand, "Heidi" with the title song by Gitti und Erika, who normally sang folk hits for adults as a duo.
Just as famous was the animated series “Maya the Bee” => "Biene Maja", with the iconic theme song by Karel Gott, also a very famous folk and pop singer.
And another extremely famous pop singer sang the title song for the German Tom and Jerry series: Udo Jürgens. All of these are still well known today.
The German theme music from “Speedy Gonzalez” and “The Pink Panther” were also extremely catchy and famous tunes; some lines from the "Der Rosarote Panther" theme have even become household words in this country...😅
There of course were other series and their theme music, but you can clearly say that the most iconic one to date is the German theme music (not really a song) by Christian Bruhn for "Captain Future"! You can confidently say that you can hardly find a comparable piece of music in animated films (at least in German-speaking countries) - I just listened to the American title for comparison, it absolutely doesn't come close in the least... Of course, as always, it's a question of personal taste, but still...😏😁😇
So I hope you find my answer a little interesting. Yes, I could probably turn this all into its own blog, "Ralf reacts to Elaine".😂 But my thoughts are better off here, I think...😇😉

This is fantastic Ralph - so much interesting information! I'll need to check out the versions that you've mentioned and I love that you take the time to research and add to the topic. Its great to know what has remained popular in Germany that crosses over, plus I like to hear about programmes that never made it to the UK. It didn't occur to me that there would be so many differences in theme tunes and re-recording them for each country. Thanks for keeping me well informed 😀👍

@@PopMonkeyPodcast I am happy if I can contribute something to “international cultural exchange”.😄
Of course, this is my own personal, purely subjective selection. Except for the topic of "Captain Future", most people probably agree...
Shame on me, I have forgotten a very famous comic series in our country in the 80s, even my mother loved it so much: "Wunderbare Reise des kleinen Nils Holgersson mit den Wildgänsen" (= Nirusu no fushigi na tabi = The Wonderful Adventures of Nils). But even if the German theme song itself had very little meaning (very short and actually just a single line of text), it was still a little special in a way, because these days you'll hardly hear a waltz in cartoon series anymore.😉😀

@@PopMonkeyPodcast Well, a few memories remain secret, some of them are even a little embarrassing.😏🙊🙈 But otherwise I hope that it helps this still new channel. Maybe more people will come along soon and dare to contribute something too.😊
Cheers and take care - Ralf🍀👋🏻
By the way, it's hard to believe, but this very simple first name of mine is linked to two stories from my school days, both of which were amusing, but not particularly pleasant for me. But maybe that another time...🙃
