But the beat is magic. Notorious is immortal.

You can hear Biggie's falsetto starting at 2:23 of the song. I ain't gon' lie.....brought tears to my eyes to hear Big sing. Even in 2023 this still one of my favorite songs of all time.

He still is an iconic legendary rapper and a spiritual gangster wrapped in Gucci. From humble roots to becoming the one and only Notorious BIG 🐐💯❤️ Well played. BIGGIE. Well played. 😎
My friend used to model for The Source magazine so they’d send him two round trip Greyhound tickets from Cleveland to NYC once a month for a year. I’d go with him and we’d have the time of our lives from East New York to Harlem, we even took the long ride to Coney Island once. But this one time we went every single place we went in the city, whether a bodega, project, car, cab, shop, pizzeria, boom box, apartment, brownstone etc was either playing one of two songs. We LITERALLY went nowhere or spent any time not hearing these two songs unless we were asleep. And those two songs were: “Unbelievable” by BIG and “Take It Easy” by Mad Lion. It was like a law had been passed that you couldn’t play anything else. The city was on fire 🔥 the days were long and the nights were hot. That city loved that man BIG, it was deep to see just how much during that trip. 42nd street was still wild then, Canal St was bustling and Delancey St had the leathers. Downtown Brooklyn, we bought gold fronts from Albee Square Mall, Atlantic Avenue, Nostrand, Fulton and Flatbush. Jamaica Station Queens. We were there.
If no one else is going to say it I will. The Chronic is not only a classic but it’s one of the most important time capsules in history. It elevated GFunk, introduced Dre as an artistic genius without Ruthless, proved Snoop wasn’t just a fluke feature, gave us more DOC, introduced several legends, branded Death Row, chronicled the riots and response….. The strength and power of RBX on HIGH POWERED is unmatched. And that beat coming on after Lyrical Gangbang was the perfect fade transition. Dre said he was gonna give you gangsta Shit and you got it!!!! Wit tha WICKEDNESS!!!!!!!!! The only other affiliated artist that could have rhymed on that was DOC and Cube. Opinions are what they are. But as much respect as I have for dude, I will not let Clark lessen the sonic measuring tape of the 90s. Fuck that. A classic.
It's a classic no question. If just proves that not every DJ has a good opinion about things. His opinion about The Chronic is goofy and he should be embarrassed.
