What's THIS? Unlimited Aegis Amulets In FF8?! Looks Like I'll Have ANOTHER Trick To Utilize In FF8, Along With The Unlimited Luck-J Scrolls With Odin! VERY NICE!! Remember To Also Do That FF7 Video I Mentioned Testing Out That Trick With Guessing The Password On FIRST TRY, And Also Farming Those Carbon Bangles/Hardedges/Loco Weeds Before Even Exploring Those Floors! And here I was feeling guilty for taking a break from this game to re-platinum Arkham Asylum and Arkham City (yes I'm insane), but now I have a new trick to utilize when I come back to the game.
Actually, the UFO has different HP, either around 8k or 12k. Just use normal attacks until you drop its HP to a magic that you can reflect off from your character (use auto reflect) to the UFO (enough to drop its HP to 0). Then escape while it's being reflected. Works everytime.
Btw I use scan magic at the beginning of the battle to know it the UFO has 8k or 12k HP, so I can adjust my attacks accordingly - enough for the reflected magic to kill it.
This youtuber is utterly useless. He is ALWAYS wrong, or has the modt convoluted methods. Your method takes minutes to get a bunch of armlets. His takes minutes to have a 25% CHANCE of getting ... one :/
I figured out that when you kill yourself with Squall make sure you start holding run before you hit yourself and Phoenix wkll be summoned 100% of the time, also you don't have to use Treatment to heal and re-petrify Quistis and Selphie, its just a waste of time
Just so there's no misunderstanding, choose attack, select Squall and immediately after hitting X on Squall hit R2 and L2 (run) 100% effective for summoning Phoenix
For iOS version: 1. Scan the UFO HP figure. 2. Adjust the attack to level down to low HP roughly 500-1000 left 3. Cast Firaga on the person who have Auto Reflect equipped 4. After casting, run from the battle. 5. Check Aegis Amulet received and save.
I don’t know if anyone else found this but if you go into the forest and run away from a fight with a hexadragon immediately after loading. then fight the ufo as above I get the Phoenix rebirth every time. Think the hexadragon is the rare enemy spawn. Hope this helps people.
Could you update this video to show how this works with Auto-Reflect enabled? I tried for an hour to get your method to work, and then based on some of the UA-cam comments tried the auto-reflect method-which is WAY more consistent and MUCH faster. It doesn't work with every magic, but if you have auto-reflect on and then cast a magic like Thundara on yourself, it'll hit the UFO in a way that you can run away before the full blowing up animation takes place. For my set up, I had a character with auto-reflect. (Since I was LVL 100, I had to stop and use Tonberry's level down ability to get the UFO at low enough HP that a single Thundara would destroy the UFO). I cast Thundara on my autoreflect character and immediately run away. The blowing up animation starts but I run away before it finishes and get an Aegis Amulet everytime. It's SO MUCH faster to get Aegis Amulets than the random Phoenix Summon method.
@FuzzfingerGaming theres an easier way just put auto-reflect on a character and lvl down on another and cast lvl down TWICE and then cast Thundega or Fireaga etc. On the person with auto-reflect the soon as they start casting hold flee buttons down. Rinse amd repeat i know this is late but better than never
The video by shelfall (original Japanese poster) is also very helpful for this. Their way is just thunder cast on a character with autoreflect, and press escape before the cast, it will reflect the thunder cast onto the UFO?, and then escape. Rinse and repeat. Just save here and there in case you mess up the escape. It takes seconds each battle. By far the fastest way to lvl SPD.
Also, if using the auto-reflect method, each time counts as a kill (even though you escape) so you'll get the 1000 kills trophy before you're done farming
thanks to your suggestion i was able to farm aegis armlet very easily. i tried the phoenix method, but i couldn't escape before the death animation was completed. with auto reflect it works every time
So I use the auto reflect method as well, but I found that using Firaga is a little bit faster than Thundaga. Any of the 3rd level elemental magics work though. It might just be my imagination, but I think Firaga is the fastest.
You can just leave 2 party members petrified, no need to un- and re-petrify them (can also do it during the UFO? fight itself, no random encounter needed beforehand for setup). Just keep 1 partymember active and have them attack themselves, hope for phoenix, hope for the drop, if succesful, save, then rinse and repeat, otherwise reload and try again. If phoenix doesn't do enough damage on its own, just attack UFO? beforehand.
FYI, you don't need to go through the whole Treatment, re-break, etc setup. Just get phoenix to trigger (and kill the ufo with its damage) and escape during the animation and that's all that's required. Having (any) 2 party members break'd already and then having the third kill themselves makes it quick. (Thanks for all the vids Fuzz, have enjoyed your series a lot!)
Actually, from what I gathered, Squall needs to be the only one that dies and revives when fighting the UFO. If it's any other character, they will take too long getting back up on their feet, and the UFO will blow up, triggering the final sequence of the sidequest. Trust me. After countless failures--even when I got Phoenix to one-shot the UFO--I can deduce that Squall, and only Squall, can exploit this glitch. Now to get the repeat Odin glitch to work out. After dozens of tries, I've yet to pull it off. Maybe it's been patched out via the 1.0.1 update?
Word to the wise, I *_strongly_* recommend critically attacking the UFO once to reduce its HP enough to ensure Phoenix kills it. Finding out Phoenix isn't strong enough after 10 game over screens is a good way to waste time and piss yourself off in the process. Sitting happy with 4 loot drops now.
I hit 1 time with squall to drain 5000, then kill myself, if u hold run immediately after you press X to attack Squall you will summon Phoenix 100% of the time
I don't know if it's a bug or something but Phoenix don't appear by the ufo after the second time but when I go back to the forest and try it at a normal enemy he appears immediately
Update: OK for everyone who is or will try this (selphie and quistis are in break) after i load in I go to the forest and search a normal enemy and run than outside the forest ufo and after squall kills himself (no treatment needed) Phoenix appears every time (at least for me 😉) hope I could help and sorry for my English 😋
Update 2: after the ufo make a safe go back to the forest for a normal enemy run away leave the forest for ufo and Phoenix appears but not every time maybe 70-80% (safe) have fun
I followed everything exactly and it didn’t work and I couldn’t figure out why till I realized that I was level 100 and because the UFO scales with you it wasn’t dying from the GF attack. I’m going to try to use level down and see if that fixes it
I'm not having luck escaping before the ufo dies and blasts off. playing the remaster all lv 10 or less having followed along thus far. is my spd not high enough?
I can’t kill the UFO. My phoenix damage is only 3000 and its still alive. How do I improve the damage. My stats are already set to 255 for str and mag.
So, I don't know if this is the same for all low level characters, but none of my party members are above level 9. (Squall and Quistis both at 9 and Selphie at 8). But when I did all of the steps that you showed, but for me the Phoenix summon came EVERY TIME. I stopped at getting 4 Aegis Amulets. No 3-6 times waiting for Phoenix to show for this low level party!
the rate that phoenix appears on my party is really low. in my 30+ tries phoenix only appears twice, and both times my party cant escape before the ufo's defeat animation. any tips guys?
@@tonghoangphuc2708 Actually, there's a much easy way to do this trick (Water animation is longest in element magic), use Water magic on an Auto-reflect character, so you character can escape while Water auto bounce back to the UFO and kill it. Phoenix is just too random compared to this Auto reflect method.
Is there anywhere you can monteith Behemoths? If so, grabbing 50 barriers (refines into 1 aegis amulet) shouldn’t take too much longer than this, and it certainly seems like it’d be less stressful. Also worth noting you should only farm aegis amulets after you’re done with Angelo Search, since that’s one of the possible rewards.
i dont think its faster even with the fix encounter by ultima weapons place cause you can just mug 2 at a time so still need 100 for one spd up.. i think the method shown here is way faster as fighting 50 behemots
Kevin und so It might be faster, but I doubt it’s much faster, since it’s pretty fiddly (compared to just holding down the accept button with x3 on in a party with two muggers). For my part, I prefer a slightly slower farm with fewer moving parts so I can watch something or just veg. It’s easier to get into a rhythm, which means I’m less likely to mess it up. Besides it’s faster to farm 100 cactus thorns on cactuar island, refine into 1 Hundred Needles, and refine that into 1 Spd Up on Disc 3, or on Disc 4 just to farm-refine the Irvine Card for 1:3 rocket engines (which refine at 5:1 into Spd Ups) if those are what you’re after. Cactuars have high encounter rates, often come in groups, and can be mugged for 3-4 thorns apiece really easily with initiative and Hit-J, and even if you don’t successfully mug them, Rare Item guarantees thorn drops at 2 or better, with a 50% chance of 3 or better. A properly set up left Diamond on Disc 4 lets you farm a rare card like once per minute, which comes out to like 3 Spd Ups every five minutes. For a couple aegis amulets just to have Eva-J for everyone, Behemoth farming works pretty well.
You dont need to repeat the whole process of restoring and freezing your characters again, just leave them frozen and kill your remaning 1 with death and that's it. You can do this with any character, so order doesnt matter. The only thing you need is to pop up Fenix and have it kill the UFO. If you are too high lvl and dont kill it, this method wont work. If so, make sure to equip LVL ⬇ command, though it' ll be a bit more tedious but should work. Edit: It does work on the old steam version for the PC as well.

WOW Aegis amulet is rare, you need 50 bariers for one....
faster is to junction auto reflect, once battle starts, cast thundara on the character with auto reflect whilst escaping...
I haven't tried this yet, will try on original version first
The youtuber is beyond useless. Yours is the correct method.
@Mscape7 yes this thunder works better. Played 45 times never saw phoenix once. Did this 1st time and bam...works
If you're level 100 bring Lvl Down and you're good to go

2 Aegis Amulets -> Forbid Med-RF -> 1 Spd Up

5 years and im still learning new things
26 years and im still learning new things. :D
Ps1 version. Did everything described here. Phoenix cast 2x no aegis armlet.
Kv down, reflect firaga, run
Faster method: cast firaga on yourself with auto-reflect, then run away. Takes 5 seconds each time.
I have to confirm this.
This trick is way faster than the gf summon. And you dun have to save and hard reset.
This is "the" most round about way of doing this. Then again I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

Random Number Generator. It's basically code behind the scenes that helps determine anything going on in the game that could be variable or random.
