the film has been shot from autumn 2010 to summer 2011th He has been well researched and supported by a ethnomusicologist. how know the area and the people since 7 years. His wife is from there. The theme of the film is in fact the friendship between muslims and christians. If you not come to realize this, you have´nt see good the trailer and have not really seen the description of the film.

Religion is a matter of interpretation. Depends on who’s saying what, when, where, how and the reasons why.
The world is like a pressure cooker with a high religion temperature.
So far in Albania the mixture of the religions had a lower pressure compare to the pressure of the existence.

before the Greeks came from Turkey in (1922 war) almost 65% of the population had Albanian surnames and spoke Albanian as well. After that year the government of Greece forced the people not to speak their language and so little by little the language is a bit forgotten but the songs remained and the surnames remained even today few people understand what their surname means..
I am one of those who still speak the language with my family greetings to everyone from Thessaloniki

@@NoName-yw1ptNo, that's just some albanian nationalist myth. Albanian speakers were only 20% and like only 1 million Greeks came from asia minor. That isn't enough to replace a supposed different population, Greece has 10 million people. This guy is clearly lying.
Of course there were some albanian speakers who helped in the creation of the greek state but that was just some and not all.

what the elderly man in the end said is depressing.....he is right. Tradition in general is dying. Even the knowledge of basic biology and common sense is dying. People who thing they can change their gender. People who like to do drugs and sleep around....no class either. No tradition. No basic knowledge and common sense. No class. I live in America and compare to us these people still seem traditional! If that old man seen how America is like he'd probably fall over from a heart attack.....

  • @HK-pp9ig
    @HK-pp9ig 2 роки тому +3

Great work. This is like time travel for many viewers. Albanians identify by language and traditions, and less by religion. Religion is more personal experience, and Albanians even though torn between Catholic, Orthodox and Muslim religions, respect one-another. Some muslim parents name their kids Christian names in honor of their Christian friend, and Christian parents name their kid a muslim name in honor of their muslim friend... this tradition started with two noble Albanian families; Frasheri (Muslim) named their son Kristo, and Luarasi (Christian) named their son a muslim name Skender. Muslim and Orthodox Albanians marry between them; when such marriage occur, usually the wife adheres to the husband's religion... although most families are irreligious, and people from one religion celebrate with the others and vice-versa. Very few young Muslim people follow their parents while Christianity is more in fashion. Except for a few adherent on either side, the majority of Albania is secular; while under hoxha's communist regime, religion and houses of worship were prohibited by the communist constitution - hoxha declared Albania the first and only atheist state in the world; many people were jailed and some clergy especially Catholic priests in the north were killed by the government due to their resistance to closing the church.
We say Albania is behind European development about 100 years, or as one comedian said, 100 years behind and 50 years sideways; that's the reason why researchers can still find old folk and polyphonic songs... Neighboring countries like Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia had similar traditions, but they moved to the modern era once they gained their independence from ottoman empire, while Albania was the last to split from the ottomans; this probably explains why Albania still has preserved some of the old traditions. In the west Europe, probably you have to go search into archives, but in Albania things of the past are still alive, albeit this is fading with time as it did elsewhere.

You will recall me having said this:
There was an Albanian, in history, being raised up by Turks in Turkic lands as a hostage, but he finally returned to his homeland and fought against his captors after years.
In the Cold War, Albanians were betrayed by her allies and defeated by her enemies and Albania herself be annexed to become a part of NATO. Thousands of houses sent their sons into the West, to Europe, to US, to Canada, as hostages. But lo and behold, soon, a hero will break his chains, defy his masters, come back from his prisons and lead his people fight the NATO again.
Albanians do be defeated, but they do not be defeated silent for more than one generation.

there are no muslim-christian barriers in albania, so stop qualifying what doesn't exist. if europe has a muslim-christian problem, ei germany, france, etc. then keep it to yourselves and stop projecting your problems and perceived solutions on albanians. otherwise if they continue with these projections, they will create a problem that did not exist before, to albanian's expense. we don't want a part to europe's or islam's culture war.

*Ai filloi me injorancë!* "Like Georgians" është komenti injorant, edhe albanofob!

Ju jeni pergjithmonë "anti-racism", "political correct" blla blla.

Can you imagine that Ilirians language was so primitive and dissonant. Their songs and language look more like African tribes singing and speaking. Shqipetaret are descendants of Cro -Magnons the last Homosapiens (babunsapiens) who left Africa and headed to Asia Minor and Caucasus 7000 years ago. Cheers!

That’s a flat out lie, orthodox Albanians still live in greece and still speak Albanian even though Greece government tries to prevent them. Because of jirecek line the southern Albanians became Orthodox Christians while northern Albanians stayed Catholic! It’s a slavic tendency to deny everything that’s not slavic, you people like to assimilate everything that’s not you. Prehistoric caveman bastards!
