Yes, it's a great live desk, but it's also a superb studio desk. Sound quality is crazy good. I've recorded "audiophile" quality from this desk. I've never used mine live, but I do use studio one pro 3 as my DAW with this desk which makes the whole package incredibly powerful.
Thanks for the review Nick! Looks like this desk has the workflow and sound quality sorted. Im not so much of a live chap so if it had (better/more) effects and automatable/motorized faders it could be excellent as a tracking desk! I would pay a premium for the workflow & sound quality but it just falls at the last hurdle to be the center of a recording space IMHO...
actually they should have implement flying motorised faders which is fantastic feature for the automation process, in this price range you can actually buy it Behringer X32 fully designed from the beginning based on motorized faders technology. For some reason Studio Live Ai series consoles become unavailable on PreSonus web page, even local stores has pretty limited supplies of this particular product. I have suspicion that Ai series might be replaced with upgraded version of this product.
Great review Nick.. We use a 16.0.2 for running our IEMs on stage.. absolutely love it and you are right about the ease of use and immediacy.. Thinking of getting another one to replace my old Amek
How reliable is the StudioLive mixer? I want to get one to record my gigs and if I get I'm keeping it for a while, and I don't want to have to get rid of it a month after buying it because of crashes freezes, or other bugs.
At my college, we use the older 16:4:2 with no AI in the main studio, one think the we've noticed is that the preamps are already starting to breakdown, so maybe the longevity is something that could be a problem? Could you suggest an analog studio recording desk for the same money that would do the same or a better job.
Hello again....One other question. I am really looking for a console that will be great for multi-track recording. I like a lot of the features on this board, (channel insert jacks, variable Q, Attack & release controls on gates and compressors, etc) but not sure it will be great for studio recording. Do you have any suggestions as what to check out. Thanks....
I believe that this board is great for studio recording! You can record each track individually or all at the same time. Also, all the tracks will be routed back to the board after being recorded if you want to mix on the board to add analog outboard gear and record back into your daw!
Hi, Thanks for doing this... Will all 32 channels accept the 'tape return' from the Presonus software on your Mac over the FireWire? You can have 32 tracks on Studio One and accept them all on individual faders?
I am thinking of getting on of these new but I would like someone to answer this question if possible. I plan on mostly using this in the studio but do I have to Mac / firewire to send the individual channels directly to my DAW which I use Presonus and 2 others. But I am on a windows 10 based computer. Forgive me for my ignorance I am getting back into setting up the studio in a more digital world after having been away for many years...Is this done only through Ethernet or do I need buy some firewire interface for the windows based PC. I looked over the manual and it was unclear. Thanks for any help in advance.
Does the EQ Freq. adjustments change in increments or is it a true continuous variable adjustment (like an analog console)...Excellent review...Wish it had moving faders on this model.
Greetings Nick, kindly assist with the following: I have exactly the same mixing board and now it says "IO CARD UPDATE FAILED, Please power cycle mixer". How do I go around that?
Hello please sir, can I get one of this console to buy presonus studiolive 32.4.2ai? Please I can get in contact with you I will be happy. I hope to hear from you sir.

Is this an analog console or a digital one? I'm still trying to learn the difference.
Completely digital

Uptown Wedding Photography NJ Incremental. The new model has flying faders.
I will check out the new model. Thanks....
Uptown Wedding Photography NJ No problemo! It's called the StudioLive 32 III.

Sorry, we don't have the mixer here any more. Have you tried calling your dealer or local distributor? Or just try Presonus directly
@@sonicstate I've attempted contacting PreSonus directly but no help still. Thank you for your efforts though.
I have a question?... if you see this... I have a audio problem.
Thank you .🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
It is pity Presonus does not have U.S.B input, output
The new ones do
Hello please sir, can I get one of this console to buy presonus studiolive 32.4.2ai? Please I can get in contact with you I will be happy. I hope to hear from you sir.
Love everything except the FireWire
I use the Firewire with Studio One. It works flawlessly. Only issue is it only world with my old laptop. No upgrading this setup.
I like him...
