I’m beyond speechless! This is pure magic! Luther & Aretha on the same stage, duetting: sheer majestic! I sooooo miss them both! The harmony and vocal dexterity of the two you just cannot make up this kind of singing! It’s brilliant! They were just brilliant. RIP Ree and Luther. ❤️❤️🙏🏼
This was during the lowest vocal point in Aretha's career in the 1980s before she quit smoking but after permanent damage had been done to her voice. She doesn't sound good at all here and her top notes aren't there, but she did recover most of her upper range in the 1990s after she ditched the cigs.
@@direfranchement she sounded phenomenal here in my opinion. I agree, the kools did significant damage to her vocal tone and abilities. However, there’s a rawness of the 80s that I appreciate. She worked the huskiness right and got acrobatically dependent which I honestly enjoy. In other words, she found a way to work with it, lol.
Now I love them both period but did y’all notice he said “he’s never going to be” it slipped lol Aretha brought out something he didn’t even notice this performance was Energy if you know you know but the way she match him and deliver. they both did true musicians rewatch and feel it 5:30
