How to: Knit the 3rd Stitch BEFORE the 1st & 2nd Stitches | Right and Left-Leaning 3-Stitch Twist

  • This knitting tutorial will show you how to knit the 3rd stitch before the 1st and 2nd stitches to create a cable effect. It's an interesting way of making a cable without using a cable needle.
    I will demonstrate the right- and left-leaning versions of this twist, and then an improved version of the more common right-leaning twist.
    Note that I've seen this 3-stitch twist called a few other names in patterns, including the C3 or MC (mock cable) stitch. Even though it's referred to as a mock cable, it's real cabling because stitches are passed over other stitches - even if it's not done in the conventional way :)
