Okay I would like to know how oh you making the same mat or wrong with a caucus bag or Market bag
My grandmother made these of wool fabric when I was little (about 60 years ago). She would knot the fabric strips which were precut and the ends were cut diagonally. I loved those warm and soft rugs.. hope this helps!
Does the fabric stay in place without knotting when it comes time to vacuuming or washing the rug?
I cant imagine so. I am going to knot for staying strength. I wouldnt wash in general. Perhaps taking outside and using a gentle soap, a large tub and the hose, to wash, then dry in sun
they definitely would not hold up in the washer or dryer. I made one but knotted each strand and still had some come off in the dryer
Lower your musoc volume! My earsssssss!
Wonderful idea, never thought of using a rubber mat!
Uhhh...i feel like you missed a few steps you should have told us lol. This was a bit confusing!
There is a written blog post of the process linked in the description, you can also check that if you are confused.
@@Remodelaholic Would you mind giving us the linked blog post please, I can't see which one it is?
The first link in the description is the blog post.
watching this and couldn't tell,, did you tie your pieces in a knot or just looped thru..I'm making one now and the person showing how has me pulling thru an then tying in knot.
I had the same questions, what did you figure out to do with yours??
Did you ever figure out an answer
I was wondering that too!
I’ve just made one and you just poke both ends through. You can tie them in a knot if you want but it’s not necessary.
I want to make a heart for Valentine's
That would be super cute.
Yes, you skep some steps but it was easy for me to follow. Your rug looks pretty cool and modern. Thanks!! This idea is very useful and I most likely to will do it!! 😀👍
Which steps were missed? I’m trying to make this currently and I’m not exactly crafty lol
OK, I'm trying to figure out if you know them or what you did to keep them from falling out. I can see that you're poking the fabric thru, but would you tell me how to secure the pieces?
I saw techniques where u tie the strips w a tight knot (like an easy "latch hook" )
You poke both ends through and they stay in place. Or you can tie the ends in a knot
Has anyone done this with felt strips? I'd like to try it.
Why does it take so long to get to point.
This looks great but how does the fabric stay in place w/out tying it or gluing it in place? I found that my fabric pieces could pull out easy.
Tie them when you pull through.
Trying them makes bumps under your feet I've found. Im going to either use a perm fabric glue to bottom of rug or put a single stitch in ea piece after pulling through.
Wow this is a great video! Very useful ideas/tips! I love to make diy videos too. Your video is very inspirational! Thank you for sharing your talent and time with us!

Nice and simple to follow
Hi what is the name of this grid that you are using?
The only problems I have is my rug wants to curl under on the edges. How do I keep this from happening??
Just wondering if there was any concern or experience with “tearing” of the rubber backing. I have purchased these rag rugs, but there has always been a heavy duty backing on the rug bottom. The tutorial showed work on the non-skid rubber, but the crossmembers of the rubber looked insignificant. I would hate to go to so much work only to have the rubber begin tearing, and the rug start to come apart. These rugs can provide so much color enhancement to rooms, as well as serving a valued utilitarian purpose.
They sell jars of rubber backing that you paint on if you'd Like added bottom. There are also cloth mats like this that are usually used for latch hooking that I'm sure could be used.
You can get canvas mesh backing versus rubber. It’s much more solid and washable.
I wish she would show how she started it . I cant see anything ..I'm totally NEW TO THIS
Her: Should I do my blah blah blah intro, or should I explain how the knots are tied? hmmm..
What is the backing you use for the rag rugs please
You probably already figured it out but here is an affiliate link to the product. amzn.to/47e8zNA
Is it safe not to tie the fabrics? How do you wash that rug?
I would tie them. And wash by hand with hose.
No se ve como anudas! Poco claro
I m making one similar to yours but I tie each strip to make more secure but it's taking forever also sent to eBay for tool but it's not right one so I m using nail scissors to push through.. Also I m doing every square so don't see myself getting anywhere.. Can you help?
😢🙏xx
Love this thanks for sharing

@Remodelaholic, this video is quite old, so I hope you’re still online and able to respond. I’m very interested in making one of these shag rugs for my campervan. I’m concerned about how well it will hold up, given it is likely to get dirty and I’ll want to wash it from time to time. Is washing one of these rugs even possible? The shags aren’t securely attached and it seems they may come out in the wash. What are your thought and do you think use as I’ve describe is advisable?
Nice diy 😃
(see our first video 😉)
Do you have any suggestions on how much material material to purchase for a specific size rug especially since it will be cut into strips. I'm not speaking of the base but the actual strips that I will be cutting I'm going to be making mine out of t-shirts and don't know how many t-shirts I should purchase.
So you don’t tie ?
Nope. Thanks for commenting!
Amei seu trabalho
Where did u get the back rubber piece carmen
So you're just looping it through the holes but not tying it?
Muito lindo mas quando lavar ele não solta
Eu recomendaria lavar com a mão. Ótimo comentário, obrigado!
Wonderful creation... beautiful❤️I love it...new subscriber here from Denna's Craft.
Thanks Denna!
@@Remodelaholic Welcome❤️
If I was to buy jersey fabric how much yards would I need for a 4 x 6 rug???
Good God, ditch the music
That looks so soft on the feet
Just subbed!
Thanks Torey you’re the best!
Remodelaholic you’re welcome!
What is the rubber matting called
Mesh canvas backing
Is it not suggested to use regular fabric? Does it work better with jersey?
Regular fabric will fray easier it also doesn’t roll or stretch like Jersey, so if you can use jersey
Nice!
Where can get a rubber mat????
Non slip rug pad
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Amazing work🙏🙏🙏
Thank you!
