- Do yourself a favor and watch this video if you are planning on buying a Harley straight from the dealer.
The tips in this vid might be common sense to some of y’all but you’d be surprised how well dealers take advantage of rookie buyers. I’ve heard way too many stories of people going into 1 dealership rather than making multiple dealers compete for their business. Also, some people are unaware of the BS fees thrown in by the dealer. BS fees that inflate the price by 1K or more. Forget that! Don't be the guy that pays 5k over msrp.
Watch this vid, learn the tricks and spread the knowledge. Please stop getting played by dealers.
These steps saved me a few Gs on Harleys and even some offers from car dealerships.
If I missed anything, please mention it in the comments so people can avoid getting ripped off at the dealer.
Great purchasing advice. I recently purchased a bike and was able to play two dealers against each other. I bought the bought the bike at $100 under MSRP. Also, I got them to waive the surcharge, freight, and dealership setup fees. I got a great deal!!!
Great tips! Thank you so much! I absolutely agree with you, I'm used the same technique to buy my 3 cars.
Excellent information for buying any bike, thanks for sharing
Thanks Jim 👍👍
Hey man I am glad I came across your video because I I’m on the market for a Harley Davidson street glide standard.
Absolutely fantastic video!
Thanks for the tips !
Thanks that was a great I wish more people would pop up and talk about this crap.
Thank you 🙏 Brother I feel more confident after this video.. on my way to get 2021 Road Glide 😎😎
Comment here when u get it. Take a vid of a walk around ! Congrats man 🎉👌
Was just about to go to the dealership today but not now , thanks for the video and information very helpful and informative.
Hahaha..good decision. Let the dealer be a last resort. You can also use the dealer price to negotiate with private sellers that like to mark their prices way too high
Why don't l have not to play games when I buy a new Japanese motorcycle? No ripoff fees. HD doesn't make any thing good nowadays. Today's motorcycles are a collection of government regulations on 2 wheels. Buy a good used EVOLUTION garage queens that is begging for a good home 🏠. My Sportster has been a great bike like a rehomed dog who's grateful for a good home 🏠.25 years and counting. Runs great. Reliable and dependable transportation as l don't have a car 🚗. People can't remember ever seeing me driving a car. EVO is the way to go.
I bought my new 2019 Electra Glide Standard in Oct 2019 that was marked down $2000 ($16.999) because they had the 2020 model on the floor. You are right about the dealer prep/document fees, motorcycle dealers are just like car dealers in regards to up sales. I purchased my bike at Central Texas HD in Round Rock with no issues, I was very happy with there staff.
Central TX HD is a solid dealership. An otd price below msrp is always a win imo 👌
Good-Day: Willie; yeah! I CHECK OUT THE FRIEGHT FEE , watch the dealerships receive 11 harley's with the trackertailer in site. IT Looks like the harley trailer can deliver 20 bikes.Harley claims $700.00 per bike. The dealership that received 11 bikes is going to make $7,700.00. Does that really cost that much to ship.
Great video what u think about chain wallets
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. For your content to be 2 years earlier it is very helpful. What do you think about paying the fees(no dealer fees as you mentioned) as the down payment? Thank you for your content and input.
Down payment is tricky because it varies person to person. Obviously put as much down as u can so you pay less in the long run. Interest rates are rough right now.
You are absolutely right, I hate salesmen's line of shit, shop around work dealers against each other bottom-line best price!
Totally agree with your video! Timing is everything. Sales are down in Winter. I shopped one local dealer to another (30 miles away) and decided $27,000 was the number I was going to pay OTD on NYE. In Seattle, 2020 Street Glide Specials are very pricy ($31,698 w/RDS), not including fees, documentation and taxes. Taxes in our area are at 10.1%. I used a credit union for the payments at $362 and zero down knowing I wouldn't go over my offer and zero down. Harley couldn't beat the financing and they took my first offer before the new year. I let them run my credit AFTER I already new they couldn't beat my credit union rate when I signed the offer. Allowing them to think you're going to use their financing is crucial to getting the price YOU want before they run your credit application.
Yup! They make money off the loan. Did they tell you if there is a fee for paying the loan off early?
@@willyafg No fee for early pay-off. This is my 3rd HD. I always pay off the bikes by making double-payments each month. I request 84 mo loans at lowest rate around and double up (or more). Last bike took 3yr instead of 8. Basically, I make equal payments every 15 days with principal only on my extra payments. It chops amortization rate down by A LOT. My Credit Union doesn't mind it at all. I had a real estate business that collapsed and had bankruptcy/foreclosures in the last crash of 2009. I eventually earned trust after obtaining installment loans to rebuild credit. There was a time that I had to pay 18.99% just to get a chance at buying anything, and I re-fi'd in 12 months. Buying bikes helped my credit, and now I have the credit to buy at nothing rates with zero down again. Hard-times eventually paid off. Bikes have become very therapeutic for tough times.
@@206-HoneyBadger that's good you were able to rebuild your credit via motos. I am saving up for a low rider s and will remember to use the loan trick next time around. I showed them my hand when I said I was going to pay cash for my road glide 👎👎 stupid me
Excellent video. All your points are spot on. In California, dealers charge an emissions fee of $200. Harley builds all California bikes to meet the states emissions standard. Not sure if this is mandatory or why they don't just include it in the price of the bike?
Great. Video, tons of info. Are you riding through downtown Austin area, it looks like it. I hate dealing with the dealership in that area, always trying to over charge.
Agreed. Thank you. Yup that is dt Austin. Hot af out here. Looking forward to fall riding 👌
Good-Day: Willie; I question that's why Harley-Davidson change the New Year delivery to the fall months (January), to stop the customer edge. Have a bless day.....
what dealer did you use specifically
Currently going thru this crap now.hd dealers are by far the worst
Dealers are gouging like crazy right now. It is ridiculous
You have to be willing to walk away ! I’ve done that multiple times with vehicles and they always come back to you.
Thank. You. Doin God's work out here...
I enjoyed your video my friend however here in St. Louis they will never, ever email you a price of A new Harley Davidson.
That is unfortunate. I always get dealers to email me prices. Even car dealers do it. Every out of state dealer Ive ever contacted sent prices via email. Not sure why St Louis doesnt do it but that is lame
@@willyafg maybe I will try again, I’ve been riding for 30 years I do believe I have one more Harley in my future, just don’t want them to hit a home run on me.
@@jamestorregrossa3041 try quotes from out of state. Perfect weather for a fly and ride. Or go in and get a salesman's card and ask him to text you a quote. Then text him out of state quotes you got so he can beat their offer. There is also the used market. Buying new is kind of a pain because you have to do a bunch of inspections in the beginning. 1k service, 3k, 5k, breaking in the new engine properly, warranty vs customization issues, etc.
I found a 2019 street glide standard for 19,740 with only 1609 miles on it I wanted to know can these negotiating tactics work when you are buying used as well? And also do you think it would be a good buy? Any feedback will be appreciated.
I would check out cycletrader and craigslist and look for better offers to show the seller. If you are buying from a private seller it is a little easier than a dealer since dealers like to play games. New or used..dealers still tack on the same unnecessary fees that you can ask them to zero out. Hope that helps. I think you can get a better price than 19.7k to be honest since it is used.
Last day of the quarter too
Damn I wish I had this info a fkn few days ago.
I was able to get a lot of free parts and shit.
And stuff off my trade in.
Owned by trade in.
Cash buyer on the difference.
For a 2023 RG standard
A Brother sent me to see a guy who he got several bikes from and didn’t do him dirty.
They tried to sell me ESP
And TW packages. I passed on that.
Any thoughts on this shit ?
Also.. they tried to tell me OEM
Performance mods aren’t covered under the standard warranty.
I have read that if done in less than 6 mont of purchase any SE mods done by a dealer is covered. At least for while warranty is in effect.
I need to do cam and full exhaust and dyno tune but I reallly don’t wanna use crappy SE tuner and shit
I was PV, star racing 30/30 cam .. catless head pipes .. the good stuff .
I’ve never had a new bike before (it was $1300
More OTD for the 2023 vs the 2021 wiru 600 miles on it originally went in to see. Yea maybe they played me a bit on the new bike but for 1300 more
I’ll take brand new
Even if they wont back off fees, you should say ok we got a deal IF you throw in these handlebars including installation and we can wrap this up! Get a free handlebar and install that basically equals what the bogus fees are.
Thanks
This works, in theory. But for this very reason dealers don't give an out the door price over email
Many do. The ones that dont will give one over the phone. The days of going into the dealer in person to get a price are over
I tried calling HD Dealer but my experience is they do not want to entertain phone inquiries and will not return your call.
Email them first. Theyll try to set up phone calls with you from there to talk numbers.
@@willyafg Thanks! I will try that strategy. So far my local HD dealer does not even bother calling me after a visit. So Im liking the idea of flying over so I can ride a looong miles back home after I buy my Harley and enjoy it.
Looks like they took out the dealer prep on the disclaimers. I don’t see it there
It is still there under the disclaimers on the pricing
Hmm let me look again. I must of missed it
With the fly and ride, didn’t know you can ride a bike without having some kind of temporary registration.
The dealer will always have a temporary registration on the bike. No one is buying a vehicle they can't ride home.
@@willyafg yea but isn't that only the case if you're buying from dealer in your home state?
@@docfmf8404 No. I bought my bike from an out of state dealer and it came with temporary registration. I even had them send me ANOTHER temporary registration because I was procrastinating on getting it registered in my home state and the first temporary registration had expired. EVERY BIKE has to come with registration otherwise you'd have to tow it to the inspection center to get it registered, etc. That would be a nightmare.
@@willyafg that's good to know. Thank you.
Doc fees are not always bs. A lot of motorcycle and car dealerships factor doc fees into payroll and commissions.
400 dollars to process some paperwork? That isn't really optimal or accurate especially considering a 5 year old can do the work. Just another example of customers footing a stupid bill. The doc fee is capped at 150$ in Texas, and even THAT is too much imo. Takes maybe an hour max to do the work and should be 30 bucks max.
@Peter Angles that is hilarious. Good for you for not buying. But Harleys are great bikes imo. To each their own. Ride safe brother.
Local dealer is stacked. They'll be starving by spring
If u don’t mind how much u pay for the bike alone
20,500 out the door! I have another vid where I discuss the purchase and pricing. Took a bit of back and forth with dealers
@@willyafg yeah I saw your video but I didn’t understand it’s include taxes
@@project_bmw54 yep I only deal with out the door numbers which contain all the fees, taxes etc. Hope that helps
@@willyafg honestly Dop price I Ben looking haven’t got lucky yet.
I told Harley I didn't want to buy a bike until my car was paid off lol... they cashed me a check for 4gs for buying a new bike no ties.. also got a 10% discount because I work for a company that makes Harley rotors... I also refinanced 6 months later n got a lower apr because in order to get the 4gs for "paying" my car off I had to refinance through them lol!
Never heard of harley writing actual checks wtf lol that is insane. How much did you pay out the door for your low rider s? I want to buy one some day
@@willyafg 20k
@@willyafg ya they sure did bro cashed me a big check lol. They didn't even ask for proof that my car needed paid off which it didn't! So basically I bought a fxlrs for 14k lol
@@spoom937 20k and they gave u a 4k check after. Not bad at all lol
@@willyafg ya but I financed through them with a 16% Interest rate lol I guess they thought I couldn't get a credit union to buy my loan out lol
Most dealers will not give you the OTD price via phone or email!
Out of all dealers Ive spoken to only 1 refuse to give me OTD numbers over email or text but they said I can get on a call with their sales manager. Sales manager gave me the otd over the phone the next day. I told them I didnt want to waste my time by driving all the way to the dealer just to get a bogus offer so I prefer to deal over the phone. If the numbers are right, THEN i go in
Yep. I hate the “call for price”. Then you call. They try to get you in. Nope.
what state is this? whats up with the homeless every where woah!?
Austin TX. Our moron lib mayor legalized public camping. The camping ban was reinstated though so the city is a lot better now
My dealer is charging me a $889 reconditioning fee because it’s a used bike. Is that bogus? It’ll be my first bike.
Depends what the out the door price is and how it compares to comps on that same bike. Ask them what that 889$ is going towards exactly. I just bought a used bike and the dealer claimed to do inspections on it but it already has an oil leak. My guess is that 889$ is definitely an inflated number to make a profit. This is why I always try to buy private first.
@@willyafg MSRP is $4999 OTD is $6610 when I ask how the number jumps so much she doesn’t really explain so I said heck with it I’ll pay cash somewhere else.
@@jojotheweirdone 1600$ in unnecessary BS dealer fees. Good for you for passing on that
Reno hd tried to charge me $1999 prep fee .
Wtf! That is insane. A lot of people don’t know about dealer prep reimbursement so dealers get away with ripping people off.
In my experience the Harley salesman approach is so bad I decided fuck Harley
I actually laughed out loud reading this 🤣 I think dealers will eventually be phased out and customers will end up ordering directly from the factory. Tesla has this model, Ford is moving in that direction as well and I think everyone else is going to follow. It is becoming clear that NO ONE likes salesmen
Don't fly n ride to a tourist area.
I bought a Indian because the hd dealer lied to be about the price on the phone they were advertising a life time warranty on the radio went road my Harley there hour half away they wanted $2400 more than they said .I asked about the life time warranty oh that was last weekend not anymore I said f.u went and test road a chieftain limited road it home better bike better deal 7 year warranty .thanks hd for pissing me off.
That is fd up. I try to make sure to get the price in writing because theyre known to pull slick crap over the phone just to get you in the door. Ride safe brother
How about you buy a non trailer park dweller motorcycle?
🤔🤔
What’s up with all of the homeless??
This was back a few years ago in Austin,TX. Super liberal mayor thought it would be a good idea to not fine folks that camped in public. This turned the city into a homeless sanctuary. Homeless were everywhere...sidewalks, under bridges, in front of businesses, etc.But after a year or so the people voted to ban public camping and the city was clean again.
The issue is people are dumb and lazy. Those fees will be paid by someone else. They know it.
What the Fudge is the tents in the road dividers. Are they Joe Bidumbs democrat friends. Crazy
Lmao that is life in a liberal pos city. Luckily the repubs banned camping statewide so the tents are mostly gone thankfully
