Billy is a musical genius so I live in hope. I’ve found most of what they’ve done since Adore to be underwhelming and average but I still believe he has the potential to create a masterpiece.
Going by the bands output of new material these past 15 years, I won’t hold my breath. Their last great album was Machina & Machina II…Zeitgeist never really grabbed me either.
That’s a ridiculous album title. However, if this is going to be more in the lines of Mellon Collie or Siamese Dream as far as heavier songs and similar production I’m a little intrigued. I’m not getting my hopes up though. They have a few decent songs here and there but I haven’t liked an album since Oceania. They will never reach the peak of Mellon Collie but I would like to hear at least one more good Smashing Pumpkins album.
Might be synth, it ain't crap. Cyr was fantastic. And ATUM has its moments (about 12 solid tracks, kinda little from 33). The problem is not that it's synth, simply it did not resonate. And Pumpkins has been doing synth since Adore. And it was pretty awesome.
Ngl like others said . If it's synth again I may have to just move on... I own all the stuff as a collector but damn it's getting repetitive. Though, They have the right to do what they want.
I have liked all the albums. The problem tho with Atum ( along with the hype of a sequel of 33 songs) was he clearly has it in his mind as a musical and so much of the album is filler that doesn't work well on an album. Hopefully he will get his full idea developed physically one day. But Cyr had some great stuff. He is getting a bit too wordy with his lyrics. I would prefer a more Shiny Oh so Bright sound (or even the old school band sound). Better yet give us some metal (We heard it on Mellon Collie a couple places.) But I am all for something totally new. I like synth music personally. But I agree Chamberlain needs to be drumming more. And SP...please tour with a good band. No more Green Day. Tour with Deftones (Chino admires you), NIN, just somebody decent who is a bit similar in spirit. I mean hopefully you get enough money flowing to complete all your projects (Full Machina re-release please!).
@@NickCinoMusic I mean I was a bit hard on Green Day. I loved them when I was like 14. Yeah Machina 2 is so muddled and not available to stream most places. Heard they are struggling with it because of the Vinyl shortage. I just want it remastered. I don't collect vinyl.
Sorry, didn’t quite catch that, could you say the album title once more? 😉😜 Excited by. Great band, nice to have them going through quite a prolific spell of releases. Makes a change compared to most bands (the five year wait between albums!) I’m one of those fans who like to enjoy the song titles and coversleeve artwork when albums are announced, always interesting and exciting. I quite like the artwork - looks like the moon eclipsed, basic black and white, by darkness Hopefully this album is a modern rock classic, want a good blend of heavy and beautiful sounds, variation of tempo and kick ass guitar riffs FWIW; The Smashing Pumpkins is one of the best band names ever
@@NickCinoMusic With people like you all of their albums would sound exactly the same. Not even MCATIS would exist. You clearly don't understand the nature of art.
@@NickCinoMusic Meanwhile he constantly complains about people only being interested in the old Pumpkins music.. while doing endless interviews about that era, discussing and playing those songs on radio shows and keeping those 'nostalgia fans' coming by playing most of the 90s singles in every concert. I mean, I rate all his music, but he drives me up the wall, lol.
I didn't think Beguiled was that great. It was okay. If they are gonna release synth music and if he's gonna say he's trying to make relevant music (he thinks synth is relevant-tho Beguiled had a hard riff so that's a popular thing too) than why were none of the singles synth? I felt like, on the first part of the record, there were some songs that possibly could've broke them through into success in a different genre. Then again I thought Wyttch should've been a hit. Same with Anno Satana. Spellbinding was too pop 90s sounding. Their choice of singles puzzles me. Ramona? Get real. Releasing that killed the album. I'm sick and am sedated at 4AM so forgive these long posts guys.
@@NickCinoMusic Yeah, they're just a nostalgia act now. The albums seem just like an alibi. Ever since they all settled down with a family, it's just a 9 to 5 job. They lost their edge long ago.
Maybe I'm too generous, but I feel like they just genuinely enjoy making music regardless of the fame or chart success. They have nothing left to prove.
@eddiefenton6309 That is very true, but it seems they're out of sync with what their fan base wants. But bands shouldn't cater to fans either, it's tough being a Pumpkins fan lol
Atum had a few really good songs on it… it’s hard to revisit in its entirety though. I really liked Cyr though. Felt like a more aggressive Adore. I’m cautiously optimistic about this new album.
Not hyped at all. Bill hasnt released a really good album for the last 20 years. And Bill produsing on his own means croaking loud vocals on top of metallic chugga guitars. My hopes are low😢.
