Yes! Very important to a great master… Mastering wont fix a bad mix, it can actually make it worse in a lot of cases!

A and B sound a little noisy/busy muffly? Maybe more so on the B. My fav is between A and C almost like if the 2 can be blended it would be perfect lol

A & C. , same conclusion as yours, my fav C because it's more balance but A have a beautiful low end...very difficult to pick a fav between them! ;)

What would you do to the Master Plan result here afterwards. In order to lift the slight blanket and open up the 3 dimensions of the vocal? Apply a parametric eq to taste? Lastly with it being so focused on perceived loudness, do you think it could be tamed and tweaked to master Ambient and Downtempo Chill genres? So glad you did these demos. You have a fantastic ear.
I would try and get some harmonics from another mastering grade plugin or hardware unit... For the mids mainly to get that 3D vibe. Definitely can be very subtle, or REALLY loud
Thanks bigtime for your well-considered response. I have a Warm Audio LA2A style compressor, don't know if it would be appropriate on the master bus for this use case. I'm going to try with the Avalon vst by Kazrog, It has a vibe I love. The appeal and versatility of working with Master Plan is soooo tempting.@@RadiumRecordsHollywood
What are your favorite plugins to use for vocals
For vocals, it really depends on the style... My own vocals always get hit with RVox, Fabfilter De-esser, Pro-Q3 for taming anything crazy, and I really love the XLN audio RC-20 for vintage vibes.

C had the best groove. My head started moving. A seemed the loudest. B seemed the closest to the mix. Idk 😂

I find it really baffling where we have arrived, comparing masters that optically already look like maximum sausages and this is the case with the vast majority of masters. Even the engineer with hundreds of thousands worth of gear chose this way. Trully astonishing. Looking at the premaster waveform and then the masters as if someone took a knife and killed dynamics as a first step.
