The only thing that will change your life, is continuously learn and keep on working. But remember, there will always be a difference between $4000 units that the world class engineers have and your $150 plugin bundle at home.
As a reason user, that’s why I love having the traditional SSL style channel strips on every track, top down just like real life, starting with the GAIN lol, so no matter what I do with inserts, I can always push the gain “into” it at any time in process, works great ramming it into parallel comp too
Lots of very helpful mixing info and fun production. Thank you! A suggestion: There’s so much constantly going on both sonically and visually in your videos that I feel like I need a sensory break after watching one. For 2-3 minutes I’m good, but by 10-15 it’s overload. I think some dynamic variance in this regard would go a long way to keep people watching, give them mental space to begin to digest the info and also encourage them to click through to more videos. Hope this helpful feedback. Looking forward to more of your content 🙏🏽
I agree. I came to this video through another Plugin alley video, and I had the same complaint. Too much information on the same fast, monotonic pace, with too much visual information. By doing simpler videos you'd save much time in video editing, and lose less of your audience interest. I personally can't go to the end of this video.
The question your video poses is familiar to me. I have the same mixing dilemma, however, one more vote on this. I gave the video a like and agree that the information is all very helpful, but did not continue on beyond the 4th minute. It's far too fatiguing to follow. Ultimately, only you know if you're losing viewers before the end, but it I'd think it would be interesting to A/B test the above advice.
Mate, I think the advice in your videos is solid. I've watched a good bunch of them. I struggle with them though. They're all like cheesy, clickbait-y sales pitches. I would never buy something sold in that style. Frankly, your content and the info you share is good enough to be successful in a different format. I want this to come off as a positive comment, something constructive. I want your channel to do well, I think it stands 100% better chance of doing well if you adjust the format. Stop leaning on internet sales tropes, we all lost our innocence on that shit a long time ago, everyone sees right through that, and it's just going to make people cynical. Wishing you all the best bro.
I use de-esser ALWAYS on my snare tracks and sometimes in my toms, even in overheads sometimes to filter out hi hat and give it it's place on the drum pallet.
Still not the same as an expander, some gates have the "floor", which mean the gate doesn't totally close. Again, still different from expander. Expander and gate are two different "instruments" and should be used differently depending on the scenario at hand, the expander is much more dynamic than a gate with floor or mix function.
@@der_vur True. I was just pointing this out not as an expander type effect, but because 100% gated can sound unnatural when you make it silent, sorta like when you turn the de esser too low, sounds unnatural... So setting your gate, then mixing it below 100% will sound natural and not be so noticeable.
When I first started I used to make duplicate tracks to get things louder because I didn’t know how to use a compressor. I stopped doing that because I thought it wasn’t what the pros did lol!
Love your explanation what an Expander is! Never heard that before. Question: ZERO LATENCY mode on FABFILTERS EQ/PLUGINS? Is that OK? Does "Natural Phase" work for phase issues or does one really have to use linear mode that seems to KILL CPU? Thanks from Cyprus.
Let's blame the guy for actually wanting real advice from professionals in the game to better his music which is exactly why you are here. There are lots of fake engineers on yt trying to give advice but the real ones give useful information.
Very helpful videos, but the pace is a bit too fast. The quick video cuts are a trend of the times on youtube but they end up filling my brian with information and not let it sink in. This is me of course, everyone perceives things different. I'll end up rewatching your videos several times, which is not a bad thing of course. Thank you
Great video, but nauseating experience, because of high speed talking and some funny video clips in the middle. Too much information throughput at thunderbolt speed ! Thanks for understanding.
Yeah bro, i also wanted to hear something from him. I can see he knows what he's talking about, and he gives alot of very good and overlooked advice. But i wanted to hear something from him too ahaha
Goes from talking about "inverse compressor"... to seconds later... an "Expander". I'm wondering if he has a threshold of knowledge for himself before posting about topics of which he barely has cursory knowledge.
I've subbed to a lot of music production channels, but I've never really unsubbed any...until now. Every time I see this guy and his annoying presentation, it's like being pitched by a used car salesman (icky af).

4:30 A gate can let source through when closed. Just turn the mix knob below 100% to let some of the original through.

Dude. 👏 great vid.
Thanks

10:36 you just had to add that resonance sweep haha
thank you for your hard work in making this video! awesome!
i will short it up for those who does not want to waste13 minutes of their lives - the pro mix tip is - it depends on what you want to achieve..
Ive been duplicating tracks for years and thought i was introducing phasing and just didnt want to care😂😂 thats crazyyy
Thanks for sharing all these awesome information !
very good content, but i think you can break this down into 10 episodes so we can digest more of these infos.
De-essers can solve cymbal bleeds? Then why do I need the Silencer by BSA?
Let's blame the guy for actually wanting real advice from professionals in the game to better his music which is exactly why you are here. There are lots of fake engineers on yt trying to give advice but the real ones give useful information.
There is actually some good information in this video, but the delivery is exhausting.

Why duplicate the track if you're gonna leave it as is while you can double or just raise its volume to your liking???
I can't watch this. No offense but his up talk is killing me
Then don’t watch
@@Rgdonaire_07 I didn't. Thanks 😊
I can tell your a rookie or a 10 year vet still on mix 42
@@SiQuemaCuhh you can tell all that from an uptalk comment? Hahaha
@@SiQuemaCuhhBeen doing this for about 30 years and I can’t take it.
tbh, nothing matters really but I generally "just use my ears, bro"
Drum gates typically only need 10db of reduction
Great video, but nauseating experience, because of high speed talking and some funny video clips in the middle. Too much information throughput at thunderbolt speed ! Thanks for understanding.
Who is Hackier? His name is Jacquirre. Starts with a "J"
99% of the time, Compression before EQ.
When shall you play something you have record or mix. You just talk talk and talk and never play something you have done.
Yeah bro, i also wanted to hear something from him. I can see he knows what he's talking about, and he gives alot of very good and overlooked advice. But i wanted to hear something from him too ahaha
Everyone say it with me… “fRRRustrating”
Should have been a lot of SHORT videos, not one long multi-topic. Like trying to shove Nirvana's entire canon into a single song...
...NO BUENO.
I feel like I’m gonna have a seizure. Great advice but deffo too much editing on vid
Are you whining like a baby all the time? What did the, who is not famous nowadays, prodoocer say? ✌️😎
